Wild Guardians

Trull Failbane in Felwood wants you to kill 15 Raging Owlbeasts and 15 Ragged Owlbeasts.
  •
Raging Owlbeast slain (15)
  •
Ragged Owlbeast slain (15)

Description

Winterspring lies just beyond Timbermaw, northeast of Felwood. Have you been there?

I have heard that the area is laden with creatures called wildkin. These beasts have been known to guard secrets; secrets of the Night elves.

We must figure out what may be hidden in Winterspring.

I have heard the ragged owlbeasts can be found just south of the road, and that there are others called raging owlbeasts that may be found in the center of Winterspring. Clear them out, and gain access to the land.

Since there are so many posts for this, let's just sum it up without using locs because there's hardly an locs to spot these guys.

Ragged Owlbeasts:&nbsp So you've entered Winterspring from the Timbermaw Hold.&nbsp Directly East of the entrance, should take you to Frostfire Hot Springs, you'll find the Ragged Owlbeasts scattered about all the way until Everlook.&nbsp If you hit Starfall Village you've gone too far and probably want to turn around to get the rest of these guys.

Side Note:&nbsp These guys give you a 30Minute Disease that lowers all attributes by 22 or 32.

Raging Owlbeasts:&nbsp These guys are on the East side of the road of Starfall Village to Moon Horror Den.

Side note:&nbsp If you hit Starfall Village and don't have all of the Ragged Owlbeasts then just head over and kill the Raging Owlbeasts.&nbsp You can come back and get the Ragged Owlbeasts, the ones you have remaining, on your way out of Winterspring to turn in the quest.

Ragged Owlbeasts can be found near the path between Everlook and Timbermaw Hold.

Raging Owbeasts can be found northwest of Everlook near Moon Horror Den.

This quest can be done with Are We There Yeti? because theirs Yetis right near the Den.

Finding the ragged isn't half as bad as the previous comments made it out to be. The Ragged Owlbeast are random (yard trash) spawns. Meaning that they are roaming random spawns that can be found anywhere north or south along the road that runs from approx 47,39 - 33,42 (for those who dont have map coords installed this is the road that is north of Lake Kel' Theril and runs towards Frostfire Hot Springs. PS - now go get map coords installed!) Note: the loc isnt exact, just roam around that area and you'll see them blended in with the fledging chillwind, Ice thistle Yeti and Shardtooth (Coca-Cola) Bears. The spawn rate was never an issue for me, if you roam around you will find plenty of them spread around and wont have to wait on spawns.

Good luck!

this is by far the easiest way to do this quest.

1st. find point 32.39 and point 60.30 on your map.

2nd, draw and invisible line between those 2 points, and run that line. if you dont have coords, then run an invisible line between the WEST side of frostfire hotsprings pond and moon horror den

run over the hills and threw the woods. to grandma owl slaying house we go.

if you dont feel like doing that, then create 2 macro's.

/target ragged owlbeast
/target raging owlbeast

spam away, when you get one, go find it.

also, they like to roam ON TOP of hills

if your a stickler for numbers, here you go.

32.39 (2)

39.39 (3)

42 37 (1)

45.38 (2)

51.33 (1)

53.38 (1-2)

56.30 (1-2)

57.33 (2)

58.32 (2)

60.30 (6-8)

one of the worst quest ever:
The ragged owlbeast are rare.
The quest npc is on an other region.
The owlbeasts aren't skinnable and don't drop runecloths.
The ragged owlbeast put you a 30 minutes disease which reduces all the attributes by 22.
The xp reward is very low compared to the time lost.

I think a piece of wise advice for this quest is not to focus on doing this quest, but whilst doing other quests, if you see a owlbeast along the way, kill it and soon enough you'll find that you'll have it completed.

This quest is hard because they are scattered all over the place rather than in one fixed location.

I found most of the Raging Owlbeasts at 58,34 and the Ragged Oulbeasts further west at 37,35.

Download MobMap addon which allows you to search for certain mobs and then display an "overlay" on your map of where they can be found.

Travel to the area and make a macro "/tar ragged owlbeast" or "/tar raging owlbeast". You might even want to do "/tar ra" which if I recall correctly will target either a raging OR ragged owlbeast as long as they are in range. Spam this macro while traveling around the area and hopefully this will speed up the process of tracking these down.

raging are outside of everlook- close by the flight master

ragged are by loc 40,37 and 42,37 area...

do this quest with are we there, yeti- u can get the 2 quests done at the same time-- kill those rogue yeti and it's a very good drop rate for the furs..

if you're doing this quest, then you can run from the cave between Felwood and Winterspring and run forward to Everlook in Winterspring. on the way there you'll find loads of Ragging Owlbeasts, and if you go to 60.29 (north west for Everlook if you don't got coords) you can find a whole cave filled with Raging Owlbeast. Easy quest, but make sure to do it with "Are we there, Yeti?" because the Yetis walk around there too.

i had no problems finding the raging, and had problems with the ragged (at first). Basically for raging they're pretty common slightly NW of Everlook (50-100 yards area). Approximate loc for area of the raging is 57,33-ish. For Ragged i would have to jump between two camps to get 15 because i couldnt find them anywhere else...basically around the hot spring (37,37)about 2-3 ragged spawn there. After you kill those head to 32, 39 area and you can find 1-2 there. Usually by the time you kill the 2nd camp and you get back to the first, u'll find 1 or 2 up again. This was the best I was able to get..kinda sucked, but hey..finished the quest.

Suggest doing this with a Yeti quest and/or Chillwind quest, sicne they are all close together.

Owlbeats are spread out all over and scarce as in The Hinterlands.

Here are a few I have found:

Raging:
59.34
59.31
60.30
59.28
56.28

Ragged:
44.38
44.37
42.38
39.38
37.39

Suggest doing in more than 1 sweep allowing for respawns.

am i the only one who thinks owlbeasts are the stupidest looking mobs in all of WoW? anything else come close? i mean, seriously.

since these guys are in Winterspring, is at least neutral standing with Timbermaw necessary to get into the zone?

The raging owlbeasts are just North and a bit west of Everlook. Loc 58 35 is a good place to start. They are mixed with the Ice Yeti's and the bears. There is a elite 56 bear in the area so watch for him.

Not only is this a bad tip, with 2 ob's in it - but you manage not even tell us what type - with 'ragging' being a combination of raging and ragged.

No one here has posted ANY coords for the tough part, which are all the raggeds.

Two thumbs down.

Didn't have a problem finding these. Ragged owlbeasts were around 32,39 and Raging owlbeasts around 58,33.
There was still plenty running round after I'd killed 15 of each.

It's worth picking up the quest for 'Are we there Yeti?' from Umi Rumplesnicker in
Everlook when you go over there as the Yetis you need to kill are in the same place as the owlbeasts.
