Kayneth Stillwind

Take Shindrell's Note to Kayneth Stillwind in Forest Song.
Shindrell's Note
Provided Item:
Shindrell's Note

Description

The druid Kayneth Stillwind sent word to me. He would like a report of the happenings along our coast and in the forests surrounding Astranaar. He fears there is a corruption moving through Ashenvale... and he may be right.

Here, take my report to him. You will find him in the shrine of Forest Song, in the Nightsong Woods to the east.

Forest Song (where you will find Kayneth) is Northeast of Satyrnaar. Not very far at all. It will tell you you're in Forest Song.

There's horde rogues stealthing by the roads if you try and pass by the horde settlement, there's also a mounted guard patrolling between the settlement and the labor camp. I found another route, through the wilderness that avoids all the 30+ stuff that is in that area.

At the river go north along the west bank. Some spiders and bears here that you can avoid fairly easily. Just south of the lake a little ways cross the river, if you are unlucky you will run into an elemental but odds are you won't. Go east and down into the wedge shaped valley and directly east, a few nasty wolves here but if you are careful you should only have to fight one or two. You will come back out to the road and as long as you keep to the right side should avoid getting the attention of any of the demons in Satyrna. There's also an alliance graveyard on the right if you are unlucky to die around here or need to hide from the patrolling horde rider. Follow the road a little ways and the entrance to Forest Song is by the road on your left.

There is a followup quest to this called "Insane Druids" - not much additional info at this time.

Anyone who doesn't have cosmos can put

/script px,py=GetPlayerMapPosition("player")
/script DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(format("[ %s ] %s , %s",GetZoneText(),(px*100),(py*100)))

in a macro box to make a macro out of it. Drag whatever icon you chose to an action bar, and just hit it whenever you need to know what the coords are where you're standing. It works great and you don't have to go download some huge add-on. =)

Easy Quest...Level 28 Spiders and a few Level 30 Giant Ashenvale Bears...

Stay on the road, HEAD EAST out of Astranaar nearly to the end of your map.

At about 83,50 GO WEST and discover Forest Song.. and find Kayneth Stillwind at 85,44.

I got 600XP for this quest and sent on yet another quest to bring Kayneth a Bottle of Disease
QUEST = FORSAKEN DISEASES

I have done this quest with lots of alts just because it's one of those Ashenvale chains that are on the road to 60. But I just did it again with my 26 Warlock and even though I found the easy way into Forest Song (no elder bears or spiders), 600XP is just 2 kills. It isn't a matter of the danger, it's a matter of the time. If you're not already in Satyrnaar doing the Tower of Althalaxx quest, I don't think it's worth it to go all the way to visit Kayneth for 600XP. The next quest he gives you is mildly amusing but nothing special.

To find the best way in, just head East on the Road to Azshara (One of my favorite places!) until you see the Warsong Lumber camp off on your right (at about 1:00 O'Clock). Before you reach the Camp, you'll come to a streetlight on your right with a small tree and a chunk of marble sitting on the ground. Turn immediately left into Forest Song and look for the gold dot on your map. That's Kayneth.

DrZap is absolutely right after finishing with Kayneth, head towards Azshara and grab the flight path at Talendris Point for future use. In fact, I flew back to Astranaar from there and saved a little time.

Of course this will be pretty scary on a PvP server but that's why you're there, right?

He is at 85,44 on the Ashenvale map.&nbsp Turning in the quest does only give you 600 xp but you can get a couple of other quests from him.

My guess is, you get this quest, go to Kayneth for the first time since he's much further east than the other NPC night elves. Then he gives you "Forsaken Disease" and later, "Insane Druids".

Well, having read the comments above I was sceptical about attempting this with a level 27 Druid on a PVE server. I know the area well with my undead rogue (PVP). Certainly a place for a fair deal of ganking.

But on the PVE server, there is nothing to worry about.

I have feral skills - my cat has 30% speed. Going past Splintertree serves as one of two problems. The Orc that you meet on the path there will chase, but couldn't keep up with the cat.

There is an orc on mount walking the path past splintertree. Avoid him, and you're fine.

A very easy quest!

I just completed this solo as a lvl 24 Druid.&nbsp I stealthed in and didn't aggro any of the critters or Hordies.&nbsp I got just about as much XP form discovering the route as I got from the quest itself, but afterward, I continued East on the road and got the Talredis point FP in Azshara.&nbsp It was a pleasant 20 minutes.&nbsp Muahahaha

I'm a lvl 25 priest and I got there easy. Follow the road east from Astranar and go on the road until you're pratically beside the cord. 85,45 and go to the shrine. There Avoid the horde on the road ( I shielded and ran) and it's easy to avoid the lvl 30 horde patroler. =]

The amount of ganking depends a lot on the server, what time of day it is etc...on my server (Genjuros) you hardly see Horde strolling around in Ashenvale, bar the occasional level 25-30ish ones.

As for the Horde outpost in the east, just keep yourself on the right side of the road and you'll be fine...at least I haven't had any problems running through with my Druid since level 25-26ish. :)

Kayneth Stillwind is in Brough Shadow which is in Ashenvale's northeast corner.

If you're in the level 22 – 27 range, strongly recommend you know exactly where Brough Shadow is located beforehand. That is a bad area to get lost in.

At level 24, I also got the Alliance Talrendis Point flight path, located in Azshara's southwest corner, after getting Stillwind's Forsaken Diseases quest.

If you opt for that, very strongly recommend you know exactly where Talrendis Point is beforehand. It's located almost immediately on the right after crossing the Southfury River bridge from Ashenvale into Azshara.

Azshara is a level 45 – 55 area that's a much worse place to get lost in.
