Nek'rosh's Gambit

Destroy the Dragonmaw catapults.
Dwarven Tinder
Provided Item:
Dwarven Tinder

Description

While you were fighting the Dragonmaws, we discovered more of their plans.

Nek'rosh has built catapults and aims to lay siege to Menethil! And with the fighting in Dun Algaz, we're effectively blocked from reinforcements!

You need to take out those catapults. They're in the Dragonmaw encampment.

Here, take this tinder. Fight your way to the catapults and light them with the tinder.

And after you've done that, find and kill Nek'rosh. We need to cut this Dragonmaw beast down...at its neck.

The catapults are at 47,47 in Wetlands. Just click on the one catapult and you will go through a quest dialog that leads to the next quest.

This is a difficult quest to solo.&nbsp The catapult (from the road head into the camp bear left and it is halfway up the hill on the right)is surrounded by a large number of mobs and pulling them singly is difficult to say the least.&nbsp Once you have achieved this simply move in and you will see the active cog (assuming you still have the dwarven timber).&nbsp Clicking on this will start the fire.&nbsp At this point you get the next quest to kill Nekrosh himself.&nbsp For this I am certainly going to need some assistance.

Yes, this is a very easy quest.
You've gotta be able to take 2 or 3 lvl 27 and 28 mobs at a time.

These mobs do run when they get low on health so be sure to clear around a bit.

I say that becasue there are alot around the Catapults.

Also: The above coords are verified and are correct.

The two catapaults are found in the center of the encampment, between sets of the tents.

You don't actually have to fight your way through everything ... you can kind of sneak up behind the catapaults, kill a couple guards there, then single pull the guards around the catapaults till the area is clear. Then just run up and right click on the catapaults to set them on fire.

Be aware that doing this automatically triggers the start of the kill Nek quest, so you need to sit there through having that write up and accepting it.

Make a macro that says:
/script AcceptQuest ()

and then as soon as you right click the catapult, click your macro. It basically skips the scroll down bit and just lets you accept the quest.

I have problem with this quests. I have the quest, and without doing anything it shows it is complete (the first part, burning catapult). Maybe some glitch? So I go and kill Nekrosh - nothing happened. The quest is still tagged as "complete", but is on the list.

I tried to abandon it, ask Captain Stoutmantle for the quest again, and it all repeated (see above).

Help appreciated.

I did it single at lvl 28, what you have to do is go to the platform behind the 2 catapults and use fireblast on the 3 that covers that end of the catapults.. When you have done that you can easily run down and blink away or just take the 2 bonewarders one at the time..

PS if you stun with fireblast, you are screwed.

Found a way to sneak round the back and over the rocks Nek rosh had just been killed by party member but managed to loot his head - so did other groups.&nbsp If you are killed just come back over the rocks to res and heal - you dont have to run all through the camp then - also catapults can be done this way too.

I soloed the catapult part and it was pretty easy, but Nek'rosh is an ELITE, so beware and don't get confused by its level indicator. I haven't even try to attack him alone, though. I suppose, I must get some company first. At least a healer... I'm level 30 rogue. Apart from that, you can try alone because the graveyard is very close to the location.

solo'ed as 33 warlock. sneak up the hill behind the graveyard, kill a few raiders here and there. then you'll be able to pull the bonewarder+minion+raider over and if using succubus - can seduce the extras. then sneak up to the catapult and fire away.

Very easy to solo as a level 30 druid (probably even lower).

Stealth to catapults in kitty-mode.

Use faerie fire to draw away raiders one at a time to the edge of the cliff.&nbsp Then you can use whatever means you choose (feral, etc) to dispose of them.&nbsp Entangling roots is handy to stop them from running away.&nbsp Never had more than one drawn towards me.

Lit the catapults on fire without the rest of them paying any mind to me.&nbsp (Only needed to clear about 4-6 in the front to get to the catapults).&nbsp Didn't worry about the ones in back.&nbsp

Turned back into kitty and stealthed my way out.

getting there is&nbsp probably the hardest part, then all you have 2 do is pull the 3 guys that are around the first 1 and kill them, you dont have 2 kill the 4 guys in the back...&nbsp they dont notice if you go in and light the catapults on fire, btw coords r 47,47

Since patch 2.3, quest objectives like the catapults will appear on your minimap as little golden question marks so coords aren't all that necessary. The mobs were very, very tightly packed behind the quest objective catapult, so even though they were level 23-ish, there were at least six together. I was a little worried. However, I managed to inch close enough to the catapult to finish and pick up the next quest without aggroing any of them.

Edit: I went back later and the mobs were more spread out around the catapult (like they should be), so I don't know why they were huddled together in one spot the first time I went. At least they're pullable when spread out a bit.

as a level 27 hunter, there were way too many dragonmaws around the catapault

i sent my pet in to pick up most of the aggro, then went on a suicide run to light the catapault

completed quest, but got killed when they netted me

When you first get this quest, it shows up as "Complete", even though it isn't.

The opening to the gap is at 42,42. The catapult itself is at 47,46. You'll know the catapult from everything else because you get the "gear" cursor. All you need to do is have the tinder with you and right click on the catapult. This is also how you "turn it in." Completing the quest will automatically turn it in. It then offers you Defeat Nek'rosh quest.

Guarded by lvl 25-27 Dragonmaw.

This comment is kind of misleading, makes it seem like it is up the slope on your right where there are other orcs, leading towards the escavation site, which it isnt, its in the main camp
