Seal of Ascension

Find the three gemstones of command: The Gemstone of Smolderthorn, Gemstone of Spirestone, and Gemstone of Bloodaxe. Return them, along with the Unadorned Seal of Ascension, to Vaelan.

The Generals, as told to you by Vaelan, are: War Master Voone of the Smolderthorn; Highlord Omokk of the Spirestone; and Overlord Wyrmthalak of the Bloodaxe.
Gemstone of Spirestone
Gemstone of Smolderthorn
Gemstone of Bloodaxe
Unadorned Seal of Ascension

Description

As you can see, the unadorned seal has three empty sockets. Each of those sockets must be filled with a gemstone representing the leadership's command. Finally, Overlord Wyrmthalak, master of the lower citadel, must forge the seal in the flames of the Black Dragonflight.

Understand this, mortal: the chance that one of the three generals of the lower citadel would carry a gemstone at any given time is rare. You must be vigilant in your quest. Remain determined!

Ok, so youve entered the instance portal. You go right into LBRS and drop off into the room with the 3 humains and a person with 2 pets.

once youve passed this room you will come to another with 2 sets of mobs opposite you where you can drop right onto the ledge (on your right is ogres) or go straight ahead down the ramp.

Then, if you stick to the left wall you will walk past a dark opening to the left which is like a ramp, if you walk up this to the top, then hope on the ledge, then you can walk along the ramp to a first hostile enemy. He will then mind control you and turn friendly.

Without the seal, you can talk to him about it. To get the quest for the seal of ascension, you MUST have the unadorned seal. I hope this has helped.

You may have trouble turning in all the items. Vaelan didn't show the yellow question mark and at first I couldn't even talk to him. I tried talking to him several times and he finally responded, but without the quest turn-in option.

As I stood in front of him chatting with someone in my guild, perhaps 2 or 3 minutes, he suddenly had the question mark over his head and allowed me to turn it in and accept the second part.

It's an odd glitch but I figured this might help someone who might otherwise say it's bugged and leave the instance.

I was just about to turn in this quest when i noticed he wouldnt talk to me...
So I started reading here and found out about the [Unadorned Seal of Ascension] "bug".

I wrote a ticket, told them I couldnt turn in the quest without an extra [Unadorned Seal of Ascension] and 5 minutes later a GM told me he sent one to me by ingame-mail.

Someone opened the door for you whether or not you saw it or not.&nbsp
You do not need a key to enter the "blackrock spire" instance.&nbsp The part that you do without the key is called Lower Blackrock Spire and has a quest to get you the key.
If you have the key, you can open the door to UPPER black rock spire&nbsp (to the left upon entering) which is where rend and drakk reside.
Just because YOU didn't open it, doesn't mean it wasn't opened for you. So don't misinform people if you don't know.

Ok.. Ive done this runs alot of times now.
We are a stealth group of 3 rogues and 2 druids (sometimes the other way around) killing all the bosses in LBRS leaving everything else.
All the bosses are doable in this way, and its realy easy. The hard part is to get consentrated after doing the stealthrun like 10 times.
The rogues always want the shadowcraft gloves, the druids want the shoulders and the boots, and the 3 other bosses dropps gems, so its kinda a full run every time.

My advice is to go like this if you are doing a stealth run.
1.) run past to Omokk (the ogre) for one of the gems.
2.) Go down get the troll that drops the shadowcraft gloves (if someone needs em)
3.) Go down another floor and kill the boss alone there for another one of the gems.
4.) Go around and up to the spiders and kill the mother spider from the corner to get the wildheart boots.
5.) Go up and kill the wolfs for the wildheart shoulders.
6.) Go and kill the last dragonkin boss for the last gem.
7.) get out, reset the instance and go again.

Reward is Seal of Ascension.

This opens the door to UBRS, provides some protection from Gyth's breath, and allows you to summon Vael while fighting Rend.

I thought I would write this note because the directions to find Vaelen say he is near the first wooden bridge on the left.&nbsp I thought that meant really close and on the left side as I looked at the bridge, not so.&nbsp If you are looking at the bridge, the ramp that you want is behind you in the far back left corner - you just ran past it on the way down to the bridge.&nbsp Go up the stone "ramp" to the very corner, hop on the ledge and walk to the left, Vaelen is right in front of you now.

Also, one of the posts says the dragon in the next quest is a 58 Elite, it is a 61 Elite - so bring friends.&nbsp What I did was join a UBRS group, they didnt have the key so the helped me complete the second quest so that we could all go in.

dont even bother getting the quest until you have all three gems.&nbsp There is also no point in picking up the seal, since it drops 3 or 4 times on an unlucky run, and usually a lot more (I typically stop counting around 8 or so, but 10 or 15 isnt unreasonable).&nbsp Its not worth carrying around unless you plan on grinding steadily for the key.&nbsp

Once you have all 4 items then go grab the quest and continue on, but since you can grab them all first you may as well keep your quest log clear for more useful quests in the meantime.

the reason this quest seems buged is because it's a scripted interaction.

first you must have the seal on you. as you walk up he asks you to give him a moment.. then talk to him. he then has a conversation point you click on; when u click on him again he then gives you the quest.

You need the seal of assension to start the quest but u can still get the gems even if u don't have it. I recommend getting friends or a guild to help you get the gem as your looking at 20+ raids by your self (could even be much much more). one thing i have noticed is it seems a gem always drops per run, just random who drops it. The amount of hours it takes to get the whole key is absurd.

Ok here is my understanding of the string of events that lead up to getting your key for ubrs.&nbsp Please correct me if I'm wrong.

1.&nbsp Visit Vaelan to begin the quest.&nbsp Now you must find the Unadorned Seal of Ascension which is random drop.&nbsp
2.&nbsp Once found, Unadorned Seal of Ascension begins the task of collecting 3 gemstones.
3.&nbsp Once all the gemstones have been collected, turn the quest in to Vaelan and he gives you the Key to UBRS.

Found Vaelen last night. In LRBS fight your way past the 1st 4-5 ggroups of mobs. Just before the 1st wooden bridge there is a dark area to the left that slopes up. This is the ramp. Follow it up and Vaelen is there by himself.

For people who think it's bugged. You should have an unadorned seal on you when you talk to him, then he gives you the quest. The quest is also shareable. Not sure when they implemented it but was tested that all the gems now have a 100% drop rate, but still do not duplicate, meaning only one party member can take it at a time.

If you still think it is bugged you should try to carry two seals if you can, they are pretty easy to get in LBRS and to a Blue Glad/S1 70 most of the mobs will have as much HP as a normal 70 mob, barring the ogres who have twice that.

seal of ascension is a random drop throughout the dungeon.
and tonight i was on a 7 person raid and ALL the gems dropped. I only needed 2, so my guildie got the third giving him 2 gems, so now we are have 1 key for the guild and are 1 gem away from a second key. good times!

so it is possible that all gems drop in 1 run.
the unlucky group who went in 2 min after us, however found no gems.

the kicker here is that you need to finish this quest to get the key to let you into Ubrs to do the 2nd part of the onyxia chain. so pick someone trustworthy to hold the key for your guild, because without it, you are majorly stuck.

The unadorned seal is white, so it will drop into whoevers inventory like a peice of silk.&nbsp It would probably be a good idea to agree on how to distribute it rather than give it to whoever grabbed it first.

I ran it last night and it fell off some trash mob, someone picked it up and my guildy asked to roll for it, and he won the roll but the guy that took it refused to roll and said it was his.&nbsp We get to some boss and stuff drops he wants then he capitulates.&nbsp Gotta love extortion.

Woot Woot
Solo'd Wyrm tonight lvl 70 Druid

its not easy but hey i got my UBRS key
i stealthed the whole place to wyrm killing a few bosses on the way not killing any mobs what so ever. i stealther in and shifted back into elf form in the right hand corner placed a HOT on me and hit bear form, usual hits DPSn as much as possible i crit for bout 1,500 in bear regulary so he went down easy and with IMP Leader of the Pack i gained most of my health back throughout the fight

Had 2 mobs atack at about 20% switched target to them, they went down quite quickly, then stunned wyrm hit elf form drank a health pot and cast another HOT and went back to bear took him down with about 7% health left. Picked up my gem and a few DE trash items and went on my merry way.

Next solo UBRS :-D

Gemstone of Smolderthorn = War Master Voone
Gemstone of Bloodaxe = Overlord Wyrmthalak
Unadorned Seal of Ascension = random drop from any mob in instance (or buy it off AH)

Yes this is the beginning of the quest for the UBRS key, and yes everything drops in raid groups. I found the seal the most difficult to find because it drops randomly off mobs instead of off specific bosses. Once you find it get a good group that won't ninja loot the gems and hit all of the bosses. Might take two tries to get the gems to drop, but it is worth the effort to get you well on your way to the UBRS key.
