Further Corruption

Eridan Bluewind in Felwood wants you to kill 8 Jadefire Hellcallers, 8 Jadefire Betrayers, 8 Jadefire Tricksters, and Xavaric. Return to Eridan when the task is completed.
  •
Jadefire Hellcaller slain (8)
  •
Jadefire Betrayer slain (8)
  •
Jadefire Trickster slain (8)
  •
Xavaric slain

Description

A second encampment of satyrs threatens the land of Felwood towards the north, led by the cruel Xavaric. The vile betrayers and tricksters feed upon the corruption of the native creatures of Felwood.

Xavathras and his minions were only part of a larger plan -- to cultivate a corrupted moonwell, and then provide the spoils to Xavaric.

Now that Xavathras is out of the way, finish this task, <name>. Head to the north and defeat Xavaric.

Go as direct to killing Xavaric as you can.&nbsp He drops a flute that starts a quest that require you to kill a bunch of tricksters, betrayers, and hellcallers in order to collect 5 "felbind".&nbsp So kill Xavaric as early as possible so you don't have to was a lot of time killing extra.&nbsp Of course, if you just like killing these guys (they drop rune cloth pretty well), knock yourself out.&nbsp There's plenty of them.

Take out Xavaric first. One of his drops starts another quest (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=939) that can be done while killing the satyrs for this one.

Entrance is 43,11 and every mob is their in the area, you can find Xavariac at 39, 22 (it's down the sloop)

Kinda annoying to farm here, always bots here :/

and a bonus here is all the Felcloth you get :D

Head north on path.&nbsp At 90 degree turn, go north. (As stated above.)&nbsp This is Jadefire Run.&nbsp This area runs SW-NE and there are two entrances.&nbsp Xavaric is at the very south end, so take the south entrance and turn left.

Mobs will sometimes draw in groups of 2-3.&nbsp I used the farming to my advantage let them clear, ran into the boss area, and set myself up on a rock to pick off the reloads.&nbsp Without this, you pull at least one Trickster with Xavaric.&nbsp The time isnt bad, maybe 4-5 min. for the boss to reappear.&nbsp The flute quest requires 5 additional drops from the demons, but the drop rate for me was 100%.

When you tackle Xavaric, the mobs around him have a very small aggo radius. I was able to take down the 2 on the path leading to Xavaric one by one, then stealth around to the other side, and take out the 2 up the hill from him without aggro'ing the mobs right next to him. I even managed to kill the mob to his right by itself. That left to Xavaric and one other Hellraiser, which my lvl 56 Rogue managed fine. Grabbed the Flute of Xavaric Quest, and by then the 2 mobs on the path had rezzed, so I killed them and 2 of the required 5 Felbinds right away.

Xavaric will often drop a flute that begins another quest line. If you decide to take the quest that the flute offers, begin it right by Xavaric as you will need to kill more Jadefire demons to complete it.

That's north of where the first step was - and there are two ways to get at them up the hills.&nbsp

The named guy is in a small cul-de-sac and there are a few with him.

If you enter thru the first hill access coming north from Jaedanar - just keep going to your left until you see an opening between 2 small hills.

Of course you'll have to kill any tricksters, hellcallers, betrayers you run into on the way.

Did this quest with my Druid and my Hunter. Fine. But now, since 2.0.8, some of the satyrs (Hellcallers?) cast some kind of spell called "Cause Insanity" or something like that. It stops your attack for 5+ seconds, causes you to run off in some direction (into another mob of course) and you are unable to fight or even stop running sort of like fear. Meanwhile, the mob regains full health and mana but breaks off his attack as well, so you only have to fight the one you were driven into. But then you go back to the original, maybe because you need 8 of them, or maybe because he's in between you and Xavaric. The game starts again. Each time I tried a different tactic. Eventually I was able to kill them (all the Hellcallers have this cute trick) all but only after two or three tries, throwing everything but the kitchen sink at them and burning through mana at about 95% per kill. Gosh, I didn't realize my 'Lock was actually a mage...

After this trick killed my Warlock for the third time, I paid off the Spirit Healer and stoned back to Ratchet, where I discovered I was missing about 8 soul shards, as if somehow fighting the Hellcallers cost a soul shard each time. Has anyone else encountered this? I filed a ticket (on the missing shards) but will probably get the usual form email.

Could this be a Warlock-only scam? I never saw anything like this from the Hellcallers when I did the quest with the Druid and the Hunter. Just something to watch out for. I hope it's a glitch but it looks too deliberate...

EDIT: Went back to finish it because I can't stand to leave these unfinished. Same issues as before and a "not considered broken" email from the GMs. Can't seem to determine how the soul shards disappear but they sure do. Lost 8 of them but it's the Tricksters that pull the "Cause Insanity" trick, not the Hellcallers.

Xavaric is not a big deal if you pull the three guarding him (which I had no trouble doing, one at a time). He dropped the Flute. I got tired of all the tricks and left - went to the next camp of satyrs to the south and sure enough - they dropped the Fel Binds (or whatever they're called). Much easier. 5400 XP for the Flute quest but also only 5400 for the Tricksters. Should be a lot more, IMHO.

just to confirm on the locations the guy is there with two mobs at his side, pulled one separately and fought xavaric and the other simultaneously with no problems as a lvl 55 holy priest. extremely easy quest.
there seems to be a bug on the flute drop helped a draenei shaman to do it and the flute didn't drop for him, confirmed by GM that it is a bug and they r working on it (don't they alwaysP)

This was an easy quest to solo at L51. There are plenty of mobs that can be pulled individually and they're easily defeated. The tricksters will occasionally cast an insanity curse on you, which basically lets them get away but restores most or all of you health and mana, so you can almost immediately target them again and kill them.

The two mobs around Xavaric were pulled individually and easily killed. Xavaric himself was even easier to kill, even though he was L55. Surprisingly easy.

FELCLOTH!

You can forget this if you aren't fast enough to kill them faster than multiple parties of level 60 as well as lots of solo level 60s.. because this and the southern Jadefire are apparently one of the few places to get Felcloth.. so ppl are farming here like crazy... I never once had to worry about dying, only finding something to target.. I gave up after a few hours and decided to hit one or two at a time whenever I come thru the zone... maybe I'll finish the quest by the time I'm 60. :P

Oversight on Blizzard's part I'd say...

Solo'd this as a 53 lock, but died several times trying to get to Xavaric. Frankly, getting to Xavaric is much harder than killing him if you are solo. I enslaved a betrayer satyr, put him on the hellcaller in a group, then concentrated on killing the hellcaller. Then kill the add. By this time, you can kill the betrayer since its health is very low.

The mobs around Xavaric really don't aggro much. I enslaved a hellcaller, targeted Xavaric, and the hellcaller was able to pull Xavaric with a shot of fire without pulling aggro on the 2 guards.

I also did this on a 55 druid. Getting the early kills was easy in cat form, but getting Xavaric was tough to solo. Finally got a 52 lock to help.

My battle against Xavaric wasn't so bad and I was a 55 feral druid. Pulled the first two satyrs as singles then bear form for Xavaric (55 non-elite) and the two adds (52 non-elites). Popped out to heal once and I was just fine.

Other notes:
  • Tricksters and Betrayers wonder around and can be easily pulled as a single. However Hellcallers are in groups which make it a pain to aggro them. Here is my solution:
  • Around 42,15 (back of the camp) there are two hellcallers which can be pulled as a double. It IS kind of difficult but at least you'll be getting two of them at the same time. Good luck!
  • Camp has two entrances: One is at 47.5,16.3 (look at felwood map. top left there is a little house symbol .. next to it are two lakes .. this entrance is above the lake for those of you without coords) and the other is at 43.0, 22.2 (this entrance is below the two lakes).
  • I recommend taking the bottom entrance and once you can take a left at the top of the hill and follow that path to get to Xavaric to pick up Flute of Xavaric
