Gray Bear Tongue (10)
Creeper Ichor

Description

Ah, another wretched day in Tarren Mill. All of this clean air puts me in such a foul mood, <name>.

The sooner we can plague the humans here, the better. I've been conducting intense studies on possible killing agents to use in my concoctions but I haven't the time to collect them all.

If you want to make yourself of use, procure the following items for me: 10 Gray Bear Tongues and the very rare and hard to find, Creeper Ichor. You'll find both bears and creepers just outside of Tarren Mill.

Yep, 63,33 it dropped after an hour or so. I tried to farm the lvl 25 spiders, but I went back to the bridge area (slightly north ofg the bridge, on the west side of the river)and killed the lvl 22's again, and got it right away.

I'm suprised nobody mentioned the Bear Tounges being a tough drop.&nbsp Agian the lvl 22 bears do the trick.

Peace ~D

This quest is usually quite frustrating. The Creeper Ichor has about a 2% chance to drop so you could get it on your first spider or your 500th.

The Grey Bear Tongues aren't that common either, about 20% chance to drop. North of Hillsbrad Fields is a good spot for both spiders and bears.

You will have the grey bear tongues long before you will have the Ichor, unless you are really lucky. This quest is notorious for taking hours to complete just because of the ichor.

After messing with the creepers for a bit, I found a Creepthess which was a little S of the road by the Hillsbrad fields 39,53. He dropped the echor two times i found him. Its easy to spot because its Grey not Green.

The Ichor can be a very rare drop. Just give it time though. At least if grouped you all can share it.

If you plan on doing this quest, be mentally prepared to spend a long time on it. The spider ichor can take many many kills for it to drop. I do not suggest doing this quest at any level less than 26 because of the large amount of experience you will potentially gain from killing spiders.

For every level there are probably at least a dozen or more quests that are in green. They will turn grey when you go up a level, and that many more yellow ones will turn green. If you do this quest at less than level 26, you could potentially gain more than a half of an entire level, thus ruining your opportunity to do more quests at your level and every level above it. This, in turn, has a ripple effect for each successive level, decraesing the amount of reputation and experience you gain from completing quests.

If your idea of play is to kill monsters for experience rather than completing quests, then go right ahead, this quest is meant for you. If your idea of play is to complete quests for experience and reputation, then hold off on this one until you are at least 26.

After completing this one, my level 26 troll priest became honored with Undercity.

On a side note, I had to laugh at the reward of 1 silver 50 copper. The spider parts I gathered while doing this sold to the vendor for over 60 silver, not to mention the 3 pieces of spider's silk that is worth well over 1 gold.

well reading the other comments it seems to me that Ichor is impossibly hard to get and bear tongues easy. however. i killed 1 spider and got the ichor just west of the pond and have spent around 1 hour killling bears and got 2 tongues.

Edit: It does seem like some others said that lv22 bears have a higher drop rate

i set out east from tarren mill and crossed the river. the bears and spiders there are a bit higher level. they range from 24-26. The exp seems somewhat slow but i guess if you are there long enough it will add up. Maybe i got lucky but i got the ichor in about 45 minutes. I have heard of it taking upwards of 2 hours for some folks.

My tip would be, to cross the eastern river ( the one with the Snapjaws in it ) and kill the mobs level 24 - 26. The first creeper i saw and killed there dropped the ichor. The bear tongues also dropped more frequently.

I would suggest this for any quest of this nature - where the task is to kill one type of creature (wolves, bears, spiders etc) - to move on and find a higher levelled creature of that type. The drop rate is usually higher.

This worked for me, anyway. Hope it helps

What you want are the Giant Moss Creepers, that hang out south of Tarren Mills, but north of the Bridge, on both sides of the river.&nbsp The Lesser Moss Creepers just west and southwest of town NEVER seem to drop it.

After slaughtering bears, spiders, and lions for nearly three hours, I got only 1 lion blood.

I tried killing grey bears (level 21-22) and elder(?) greys (24-26) without a single tongue dropping. For spiders, I killed creepers ranging from level 20-27 without a drop. For lions (not this quest but the same guy, I got one blood to drop from a starving (level 23) lion. The ferals (26-27) did not drop any in about 15 kills.

I am tempted to give up this quest series ...

This is an extremely annoying, and time consuming quest. I was grinding for the items for so long I leveled up twice while grinding. I had started as a level 22 and finished the quest as a level 24. Extremely ridiculus.

This one by itself sucks, the XP is in the 60 or more MOB's you have to kill to get it all. But on a bright note, the next quest in the line requires a whole turning around and talking to a frog for 1750

pretty much in line with what everyone else said, I got the drops from the bears relatively fast, about 1 out of 3 had the item. Then i spent forever trying to find the ichor. Still looking....... Although, not a waste of time because the loot is nice and still getting exp for the kills

I've been killing bears and spiders for 2 days now (seriously, hours!)... and it's a problem because I'm getting ganked about 3 times an hour. I hope this quest is worth it. I've already gotten the bear tongues, it's the ichor I'm still waiting for.I'm definitely going to level doing it! :P

While doing this quest I was attacked by a couple of worthless humans 3 lvls above me. I guess they should have noticed the big glowing axe in my green hands because I handed them their ___ on a platter. I love this zone.....

Grinding quests are the best dont stress out do something else for a while then come back to it.

Jeez, I just looked over this thread. I'm a johnny-come-lately to WoW as of March 2006. And this ichor stuff has been a pain in the posterior in the past as well? I just spent two hours killing bears, starving mountain lions, and creepers, and I'm STILL looking for ONE LOUSY ICHOR DROP! The bear tongues weren't too bad, probably 1 drop out of every 3 kills or so the lions were worse, about 1 in 5 or worse but good gawd, I was beginning to think I was in the wrong place for the ichor. The lady warned the stuff was very rare, but this is getting friggin' ridiculous. My target is the creepers just south of the village, right?

This quest is making me crazy…
Although I did loot Gargoyle's Bite
from one of the bears neat Tarren Mill… But, my quest is showing complete in the quest log… When I go to turn it in he has the question mark above his head, but he will not let me complete the quest.. I look at my inventory and I only have 9 gray bear tongues but the quest log shows 10.. I deleted all the quest items and abandoned the quest and then did it all over again.. No good… When I abandon the quest and then accept the quest right off the bat it says I have 1 of 10 tongues… Anyone else get his issue?
