Dirty Knucklebones (9)

Description

Crushridge ogres have dug an ogre mound up in the Alterac Mountains near the ruined city of Alterac. And my scouts tell me they've taken over those ruins as well.

We can't let them get cozy up there; if they think they're safe where they are, then their next step will be to move down into the foothills, which will put them right at our front door!

Go north to the Alterac Mountains and hunt ogres. Bring me the Dirty Knucklebones they carry and you will earn a nice bounty.

you do NOT need to kill the elite ogres.&nbsp the normal ogres lvl 35 are easy to kill with about a 1/3 drop rate. they are all next to /tloc 50,58.

Dirty knucklebones drop at a decent rate off the non-elite ogres just before the city. The best way to reach the non-elites is to travel up the road towards Taren Mill, and past it into the Alterac Mountains. Careful for the elite Deathguards, their aggression radius is fairly large!

If you're low-level (Under 35), I'd strongly suggest avoiding the elite ogres just inside the gates!!

Not a bad, quest, and when coupled with Preserving Knowledge, it gives a fair amount of experience. For Preserving Knowledge, it would be a very good idea to bring a group with you!

Hang onto that group, and tackle the Crushridge Warmongers followup quest while you're at it!

The normal Ogres do infact drop the quest items, they are much easier to kill than the 35 elites. They just don't drop as often.

you can kill any orge in that area for a drop, but the drop rate is extremely low, try fighting the 36+ orges inside, they drop more often

Kill the ogres north of Tarren Hill.&nbsp They are right off of the road, and as stated before, they come at a very low drop rate.&nbsp Gank passersby of opposite flag to break the boredom.

Kill the ones that are to the northeast of the entrance to the ruins of Alterac (in Crushridge Hold and Slaughter Hallow). Follow the road to Alterac and bypass the Ogres that are along that road (lower drop-rates). Once you get to the end of the road at about 48,48 then go off the road to the north to find the ones with the higher drop-rate.

I found the drop rate to be not as bad as everyone says. Took me about 30 minutes to get the 9 knucklebones I needed but I died once along the way.

Solo today as a 31/32 druid, drops took awhile but the xp was worth it. tried not to take too many of the lev 36 ones, as they were harder for me. combine it with the preserving knowledge quest, they drop the&nbsp tomes u need as well.&nbsp Hardest part was horde players&nbsp attacking u just as ur about to finish off a lev 35/35 with only a quarter of ur health left :) Great XP when u hand quest in as well

I just found out about this quest with my 40th level paladin. However, Marshal Redpath doesn't have anything to tell me. When I asked Blizzard about this, they informed me they couldn't give me any hints, and that's that. I'm not asking for a hint, I'm just asking for it to work like it says here, and everyone else tells me it should work in game. What the heck am I missing? Thanks for any help you may give.

Did this as a lvl 31 mage, killing only ogres at the in the most southerly point where the snow begins. Took about an hour. Not too hard although I did die once - some of the ogres are lvl 35 and 36 which cause probs with resists for a mage that level. Got 3500 xp and a measley 75 silver lol. Like the guy above said though watch out for the Tarren Mill Death Guard they wander along the path and agro from miles!

Took me at level 32 and a paly at 31 about 30-45 mins to collect them all.
Watch out for horde and alliance clashes on PvP. I'm alliance and we tended to ignore the horde and they did to us, I didn't think any of us wanted the hassel of constant PvP when we're trying to level.
