Slay 15 Crushridge Warmongers, then return to Marshal Redpath in Southshore.
  •
Crushridge Warmonger slain (15)

Description

Now that you've had a taste of the Crushridge ogres, I want you to really bloody their noses...

Go into the Ruins of Alterac and seek out the Crushridge Warmongers. I want you to cut down a good number of them - that's the only way those brutes will learn to keep their distance from Alliance territory.

Wow, this was tough quest!

First, if you are alliance, pick up the Perenolde Tiara quest in the Stormwind Keep.

Next, go through the crack as mentioned above (34,53).&nbsp There are 4 Warmongers in this area: 3 outside the tower and one inside.&nbsp Watch the run patterns, because these guys roam a lot and cross each others paths.&nbsp They also cry out for help, so make sure not to attack them too closely.

You can actually stand on the castle wall and take an extra shot before they get to you.&nbsp This is because they have to run to the ramp and zig-zag to get to you.&nbsp Head towards the right side and look for the two-headed guy you need for the Tiara quest.

Head back and wait for the warmongers to re-spawn.&nbsp You'll have to tackle some enforcers as well.&nbsp I died twice taking the warmongers on early on.&nbsp They can crit up to 200 HP per swing and those boys swing fast!&nbsp Here's what I found that worked for me:

Engage mana shield
Open with fireball (if you have PoM, 2 fireballs)
Nova Freeze (back up)
Fire Blast
5 Cycles of Arcane Missles (you'll lose mana shield around 3rd cycle, that's OK)
Nova Freeze again
Arcane Missles
Fire Blast
Cone of Cold

Mana jade can also help here.&nbsp I have 1100 HP and 4986 mana.&nbsp Your health and mana will be very low after each encounter.

Great advice above.&nbsp I'm a lvl 40 NE Hunter with pet & mount.&nbsp Went in thru crack in wall at 33,52 and spent 3 hours killing the same 4 Warmongers which respawned rather slowly.&nbsp When entering from this direction (must get thru a lot of Yetis first - np at lvl 40 on mount) you can get 1 Warmonger to left of crack and 2 - 3 others to right, at tower, without aggroing others.&nbsp Pet died several times but just once for me (that's what I get for chatting on the phone while battling!).&nbsp I had rested bonus as well, so ended up with 8,820 for first 9 kills and 2,940 for last 6, plus the 4,700 quest reward - a total of 16,460 and the wand, which sold for 86 silver to a vendor (it's BOP).&nbsp Almost to lvl 41 thanks to this quest - not sure how I missed it 1st time in Southshore but glad I waited until now when I could solo it.&nbsp Stock up on health & mana potions before you go, maybe a scroll or two.&nbsp Good luck!

4700 xp at 35, and 100 Stormwind Faction. If you hunt from the stone wall north of the yeti, you can get tons of Warmongers and have a place to retreat you can hide behind the building where the Warmongers are located, its a safe location. Warmongers will spawn along the sides of the building, so you can simply wait, pick them off one by one, and then go back behind the building to recover.

One quest you can do while killing the warmongers is this:

http://classicdb.ch/?quest=543

It does require killing Grel'borg the Miser, though, and he's still elite as of 2.3, so come prepared.

I did this solo today, 43 dwarf hunter. Just stay outside and don't go into the castle all by yourself! Some warmongers do spawn outside, nicely spaced. (You'll never aggro something else if you're careful - but you might have to clean up some enforcers first just to be on the safe side.) The trick was pulling them towards the back wall, nobody around and a very nice kiting path to boot. Took about an hour and a half, including the time it took to actually find them...

I did this quest a looong time ago, but when I did it, the ogres were yellow and orange for me. I solo'd this with my lock pretty easily, and remember only dying once (with SS!). I took one mob at a time, and let my VW tank. I used health funnel a lot + bandages + healthstones. Basically, just let your VW take its time getting some good hate and let your DoTs tick away. I'd use a debuff combination with either CoA or CoW. If they try to run away, use CoR. Make sure to use your VW to draw the ogre far away from the others. When I got aggro, I'd fear and DoT, and use SB. In the worst case scenario, you can sacrifice your VW and run for it, but usually that's when the ogre is almost dead and you can finish him off (non-interruptable spellcasting helps :). I'm an engineer, so bombs and little trinkets helped in those sticky situations, too.

Be prepared for some resists, some short fears, some adds from a fear gone wrong, and long downtime. I would wait for my health/mana to be full + my VW's mana to regen so he has all he needs to keep aggro. If you can't find a group for this quest and you're a warlock, you can solo this.

Oh, and the place I did it was that broken wall part near the back... I don't remember the coords, but you probably know what I'm talking about. Yetis are outside and you can climb around the wall. It's not through the main entrance.

edit: actually, it looks like Bator beat me to it. :P

I solo every group quest I possibly can, so even while other people might complain about you guys posting your solo stories, I, for one, appreciate them.&nbsp Even if the person with the story isn't the same class or doesn't have the same technique as me, just reading that other people were able to do it makes me confident enough to go try.

So thanks, guys, going to try to solo now as a 39 hunter with cat.

Patch 2.3 has changed this quest. The Crushridge Warmongers and Crushridge Mages are no longer 37-39 elite so this quest is much easier to do at a lower level.

I did however have a requirement to kill 10 not 15. I picked this quest up prior to 2.3

I'm at 38, 62 right now and you can just walk up a small hill and right past the wall... sure, I had to run through some yetis (yay for humanoid tracking), but I'm confused about this crack concept. Regardless, here's another back entrance to the Warmongers!

Had no problem whatsoever with these guys as a 37 hunter (BM). 38 now right before I head out to do this quest, but given I was dropping them (with a fight--but still dropping them!) at 37, it should be no trouble.

I got the quest a while ago, but there never seemed to be a group doing it so whenerver I would make the circuit around Alterac looking for ore, I would pop into the ruins through the breaks in the walls. I would usually be able to find one or two relatively isolated warmongers (accidentally pulled an occasional Enforcer, waste of my time). Pull them one at a time as far back up a hill as possible and then do the usual Judgement of the Crusader and Seal of Righteousness (Judging with it whenever it cooled down) with Bleesing of Might on. Usually have to Holy Light 2 or 3 times during fight. Sometimes need to drink a mana potion but it was never really a question of would I win or not (battles of attrition favor paladins dontcha know?).

Last night, I was tired of this quest stinking up my quest log so I resolved to keep running around until it was full up (collected a lot of ore in the meantime too). Eventually, while fighting a warmonger near the castle in the Ruins, I hear a lot of fighting through the walls. I headed in and found a trail of dead warmongers all the way upstairs. I see a troll caster and an undead something (didn't see his class) leaving the room. They soon left the castle and I continued upstairs where there were still some living warmongers. I got 4 more warmongers in the course of walking through that castle (which was enough). Eventually, the ogres respawned behind me and I just hearthstoned out and flew back to Southshore to turn in the quest. Took the shield obviously (which was better than the Crest of Darkshire I was still using).

The trick to this quest is finding a good camping spot where you won't aggro any stray ogres and send someone carefully hunting. I did it last night (as a 35 Warlock) with a 44 Mage and a 35 Warrior and it was easy as long as you didn't try to take on more than one at a time. Two wasn't very difficult because the Mage could always "sheep" one of them. Don't even THINK about using a spell like FEAR in a place like this, though. You are better off making a run for it. They spawn pretty slowly so either kill the other ogres while you wait or just hang out and sing songs in the snow.

As Manshima said below there are plenty of warmongers beyond the wall north of the yetis (if I'm not mistaken at the south end of the Alterac townsite where the ruined tower is). They are interspersed with enforcers. You can climb over the wall by climbing the hill on the left (coming from the yeti side).

It seems that the enforcers and warmongers always spawn in the same spots rather than being random. You can get to 15 just by killing the warmongers around the ruined tower (also don't miss the one inside of it).

Soloed this as a 46 rogue without any real problems. I cleared the enforcers as well as the warmongers to prevent adds and for extra xp. If you're not a healer bring bandages and food as I had to heal after every fight, but one at a time they aren't too tough. Got 3750 xp and +80 rep with Stormwind.

This quest was sitting in my log for a while and I tried it last night (lvl 38 warrior). Got whacked the first try but killed a few mobs. Met up with a group doing some other quest in the same area and had fun killing. They left and I hung around until I met up with a lvl 39 NE R. We went on a killing spree! Got killed a few times but what the heck. When we finally finished my armor was about a useful as a bikini. Got all the Warmongers though. YAY! The trouble with this one is that when you group the mobs 'fear' and send you off into the general area of other mobs. Anyway with the Rouges invaluable help and her ability to stealth we got into a rythem and finished the quest. Hard to do solo but fun with others. Now that I have three two-handed weapons the shield (quest reward) seems rather useless. LOL I guess it can pay for my continuing education in warriorism!

Attempted to solo as a level 38 Night Elf Rogue (I'm mainly assassination with some combat). It was hard even taking down an Enforcer let alone a Warmonger - I do not recommend trying it as a Rogue until higher levels.

Then again, this is my first character, try your luck if you think you can handle it.

This was a great quest - you can hide behind the building where the Warmongers are located, its a safe location. Warmongers will spawn along the sides of the building, so you can simply wait, pick them off one by one, and then go back behind the building to recover. I'm a hunter so it was easy to pull them.

Still needed this quest, was having terrible trouble with hard locking. Went past the entrance to Alterac Ruins, chanced across a L39 Paladin who asked if I was doing the quest. We formed a party (I was a L42 NE R), went through the main gate...and kicked butt. We even survived 3 L38+s vs both of us, without either one of us getting killed. The Pally would pull, I'd stealth behind, Garotte, then Backstab like he*l, using poison coated weapons in both hands. After we killed 15 Warmongers...we just walked around killing for fun.

There was one spell that some of the Elites would cast on me which had me do a 180 from the fight and run towards another mob! I was able to avoid attracting additional mobs except for one time...and that was really hectic. I had to return to help the Pally, and the mob was hitting me in the back the entire time. I teamed up to target the Elite the Pally was fighting, then we both turned on the Elite I pulled after we killed the first one. If there had been one more mob pulled during that battle...it would have been tough.

4700 XP at L42.

I solo'd this as a 41 warrior, I ran with my mount all the way to the ruin, waited for the aggro to get off, went inside and killed as many as I could 1 by 1 then died INSIDE the ruins.

I released my body, went to the ruins, went all the way to the top and resurrected on the roof.

I then proceeded to take them on one by one, took me a while but I got it done (no one would help me!)

Hope this helps

soloed this quest as a 37 night elf feral druid.. killed them one at a time, using DoT's (rake/rip/pounce) as opposed to claw/ravage/ferocious bite, worked out better that way in the end because the damage added up to being more consistent... i couldnt fight any more then one at a time and popped out and healed, and went back into cat form as nessescary. if one was at low health and i pulled a 2nd add i would bear form it down, root the 2nd one and run away in travel form

800 xp each x15 = 12000xp + 5350xp = 17350xp (plus any adds like mages/enforcers that i had to kill) = ~20k xp..

estimated time? ~45 min

not exactly sure on coordinates but the ruins are not hard to find, from southshore (or tarren mill) head north untill you see "gallows corner" keep following the road north past a few level 34-36 ogres and you'll eventually hit the elite ones, to find the warmongers, they are further back (north western side) are mixed amongst the enforcers, there are also alot in the castle, just be mindful that Grel'bog the Miser pats in and out of the castle so i would avoid staying away from the castle if your soloing because its easy to pull adds in there

The cord's were right on, these guys range from 36-40 or abouts there, jumping over the wall was a great piece of advice, you get some good exp killing these because you sometimes have to kill the enforcers to get to warmongers. They generally drop between 1 and 2 silver per kill.
