A Final Blow

Kill Moora and Salia, and bring Shadow Lord Fel'dan's Head to Greta Mosshoof in Felwood.
  •
Moora slain
  •
Salia slain
Shadow Lord Fel'dan's Head

Description

Unfortunately, I see the only way to stop this threat to Felwood is a frontal attack. There are no other ways into Shadow Hold, and I have no means to teleport you inside. The straight path down to the bottom is the only way... and I also know who you should seek out. His name is Fel'dan... Shadow Lord Fel'dan. He is the mortal in power down below... he is the head of the serpent. Kill him and his two succubus servants and return to me. Fel'dan is the one making pacts with the Legion. He must be stopped.

I read every comment on here and they were all useless, so for the first time ive written my own.

Entrance: You enter Shadow Hold at 35,57 (just above the 'N' of jaedenar on the map)

Its fairly simple from there on. you follow the path, killing everything along the way, until u reach him.

Some milestones so u know ur on the right track...

1: Circular room with a hole in the middle and candles round the edge.

2: Pond with ooze's swimming about in it.

3: Succubus room, Rakaih is stood practically at the entrance with 4 mobs around her. (u can pull her without agro'ing the others) The only problem with this room seems to be some agro bug where u get stuck in combat. so bandage/potion to continue fighting. the 'fight' stops after uve killed the 4 channeler mobs.

After that u basically go down a spiral passage to the floor below and u reach a large open room with 2/3 mobs and lord Fel'dan and his 2 lovely assitants.

how u deal with it is up to u and ur class. As warlock i had a void walker tanking the boss banished the lvl 54 add and killed the lvl 52 myself. not hard at lvl 56.

Goodluck

A surprisingly long way down to the bosses and his 2 succubi, past the areas you go through to extinguish the braziers on the previous quest in the chain.
I managed the 3 as a level 57 shaman without any real problems.
After you kill them the passage leads on to a 59 elite undead that doesn't seem to be part of any quest

Just did this with two shamans, level 57 and 53. It was very easy. Clear all the nearby mobs to prevent adds, then pile on Lord Fel'dan. If you have any spell interrupt abilities, use them as he starts to cast. He didn't seem to have much health. The two succubi only used melee attacks the entire fight, so with some quick healing and focusing on one at a time, they went down as fast as their lord.

Another note: they are not at the very back of Shadow Hold. Lord Banehollow, a level 59 elite demon, is at the very back. These three spawn earlier, in front of a two-sided ramp that leads into a larger area. We missed them the first time around because another party doing one leg of the Warlock epic mount quest had swept through earlier and the three mobs had not respawned. We looked around until we found Lord Banehollow, then started backtracking. By the time we came back to the ramp, the three mobs we needed had respawned (along with everything else nearby). Had we known to stay in that room, we could have had an even easier time of it, killing each mob as it spawned, rather than taking all three at once.

A strange glitch happened when I engaged Fel'dan's party with my 56 mage. I polymorphed Fel'dan and took out his two succubi. However, the polymorph broke early, except that Fel'dan stayed a sheep. So out of nowhere I'm having shadowbolts fired at me by this little sheep. It was very odd, and I didn't notice it until I was almost dead.

The dungeon is just a long tunnel, some parts are just widened into rooms, but its a straight line.&nbsp Go in and keep travelling down, past the brasiers, past the river with 4 vile oozes, past the remains of troy lightforge and into a big cavern. you cant miss him.

By Gilgadean on 07/02/2007 (Patch 2.1.2)
Here's how I went about this relatively simple, time consuming but rewarding quest:

Make sure you have this and the quest to gather Trey's remains (You need to free the night elf from the cage from a random key drop. All the braziers can be extinguished during the run to get her gear, plus she can do some mild damage to any mobs giving you trouble. Once you've freed her and put out the fires, you'll get the two quests.)

At level 57, Shadow Hold is a push-over. Almost every mob, except for the larger Demons, are green. If you're a melee class, you'll cut through these guys like butter. Casters might want to take it slow and make sure your mana is full enough, and rogues or druids (cat form) can most likely stealth to the very bottom.

Start by clearing down to the place where the night elf captive found her gear. There will be five or so ooze creatures seperating the second half of the "dungeon". They are immune to nature damage, so druids and shamans (like I was) take caution.

After the ooze, you'll find more of the same casters and sword/shield mobs you fought earlier. If you can, hug the right wall and attack anything that attacks you. Otherwise, just slice through them until you reach a narrow tunnel.

Inside here you'll find the Succubus you need to kill for the Trey's remains quest. She can be pulled alone, and when she dies, a yellow ? will appear above the naked human on the altar. Pull the 4 casters, kill them and finish that quest.

Continue along down the route and a couple of mobs later you'll end up at Fel'dan and his guards. Clear the mobs nearby, and focus your efforts on Fel'dan. He should fall very easy if he's of yellow quest coloring to you. The two Succubus guards hit slow and not very hard at that. They cast a mind control spell, so be careful. They're levels 52 and 54, posing very little threat. Kill them, loot the head off Fel'dan, and either hearth out or start cutting your way back through. (I tried to just run out. ...didn't work.)

Best of luck!

In case anyone was interested, I could not find it on here. A group came through in front of me and kill all 3 at once, so I was looking for a spawn time on here to see how long I had to wait. The spawn time was between 12 - 15 min. I say that because the spawned at different time, which leads me to believe they are not both his pets. Moora spawned all alone after 12 minutes, I killed her and waited, after another 3 minutes the lord and Salia spawned together.

Can't remeber the co-ords but this place is south of Bloodvenom post. Go thru the archway, past the building, turn right, then keep going til you get to a green pool(same place you would have gotten the corrupted water in another quest). Go right and enter Shadowhold. Once inside its pretty much go thru the place(not many choices as to which way to go). Just be patient. Soloable up until the boss, then it requires some creative thinking at lvl 55, if your not a rogue that is. Make sure every mob that is near is dead, the place has a nasty habit of agging other mobs for some reason.

Take note, at least one of the Succubi can mind control. If you have a lot of DoT's on a target (I'm a 54 Affliction Lock), and one of the Succubi dies while you are mind controlled, you will not get credit for the kill. This happened to me and I had to wait a year and a half on the slow respawn just so i could kill one of them over.

Not going to say "this was sooo easy blah blah", but straight down to my personal experiences with this quest:

- Co-ordinates have been given already, so won't go into that, read above if you need them.

- Well laid out comment someway near the top also explains major landmarks, simply a case of taking on the mobs one at a time, as theyre well-spaced out for the most part and can be pulled individually in 95% of cases.

- First major trouble-spot for me, was the big room with the 4 casters in middle (2 with minions), surrounded by an enforer, a felhunter and a legionnaire, and a succubus. BUT, for some reason, they all seem to be completely independant of each other, even the minions from their owners from my experiences. First one to pull should be the succubus, kill that near the stairs. then you'll want to kill one of the two casters at the front, shouldnt matter, but i started with left one, then right, again pulling them to the stairway and finishing them off there with no risk of aggroing others. Then I killed off the felhunter to the left, and then the legionnaire to the right. Then its a case of clearing one of the warlocks and their minion, and then the other one. Think i mentioned an enforcer, but this might have replaced the felhunter spawn on my way back out, but if it is there, same technique as rest of mobs in this room. Eventually they should all be clear and you can move on. As i said, they all seem to be in a trance, because i found an imp minion firing at me on the way back out, and the warlock wasnt doing anything, even when I killed the imp.

- Final challenge is obviously going to be the main bosses, but if you've got a pet, it should be a routine fight if youre used to dealing with a couple of mobs at once. With a warlock it's much simpler because you can banish one, have a minion fighting one, and then one for yourself. But anyway, there's 3 main bosses, the healer to the left, the standard to the right, and the main boss in the middle, levels 54, 52 and 57 respectively if memory serves me right. But before you kill those, theres a few patrolling mobs that you should take care of first, just to give you some breathing space. As long as youre careful, they shouldnt aggro the main bosses, so just dispatch the one straight ahead of you, and the ones to the right and left. dont worry about the one up the back of the stairs or in the corner, didnt go near them.

- The bosses themselves, I basically banished the healer (mana bar on them), had my minion (felguard in this instance, but voidwalker should do the trick) on the main boss, and I killed the standard succubus (level 52 non-healer). By the time I killed her, the other succubus was coming out of banish, so I finished her off (if your creature is low on health, you can always banish her again) and by then, my felguard had pretty much killed the main boss. The usual DoTs if possible should be applied, just to speed the process up.

Thats my personal experiences anyway, the succubus' didnt put any mind control spells on me, but each experience is different, you might be unlucky in that instance.

Hope this helps anyway, as I said, im not going to say it was easy, even if it wasnt as much of a challenge as I was expecting from an orange quest, but as long as you don't go in with a big head, or expecting a walkthrough, you should be fine

Just my experiences anyway, hope to be of help to someone.

Might need a hand from a friend if you do not have the benefit of a 2nd helper in the form of a pet or summoned minion.

Also stealthy rogues seem to do this quest (and many quests)quite well.

Notice that there aren't a lot of other comments from other classes (other than a warrior) that said this was essentially "easy" --

Thank you for posting location - - sometimes people&nbsp get caught up sharing how easy or bragging how they did it, and miss the point that some of us just want to know "where" and "how" it's done.

So thank you for those that shared the finer details of how it's done as well.

The co-ordinates were very very helpful - - thank you again.

Well, I'm a lvl 56 Hunter and I thought this would be much harder than it actually turned out to be?

The mobs along the corridors were easy to pick off one by one, occassionaly the one I targeted would aggro one close by but not often

When you get to the first large room you can pull the mobs individually into the corridor you just cleared. Don't bother with the four mobs around the altar until last as they won't aggro unless you start the fight!

In the last room with Fel'dan I set my pet on Sallia (sp?) and Fel'dan joined in her defense. I first killed Morra (sp?) and then concentrated on Fel'dan while the cat dealt with Sallia. This was a very effective tactic as I didn't get any of the mind control that other have described, granted I did remain at the corridor entrance the entire time

Hope this offers a different perspective to that already posted

A warlock can banish one add, seduce the main guy, and fear the 2nd demon while dotting and killing her. Switch fear to the next target you want to kill, and so on.

You could in theory kill all 3 mobs without taking a single hit (barring unlucky fear or seduce breaks).

This quest is quite easy... I managed it as a level 53 demonology speced warlock. Was doing the extinguish flame quest, went through the dungeon, cleared the succubus before and these 3, then realised that this is part of the quest after the one i was clearing. So... I had to clear it again ._.

Overall if you're a warlock, get felguard and it should be a piece of cake. Banish the level 54 succubus, focus fire on the shadow lord, then kill the level 54 succubus after shes got out of her banish then clear the level 52 succubus. Make sure u clear the surroundings to prevent adds, and fear helps abit. Be careful though, the succubus can charm you to make u attack ur pet for about 5 seconds.

Opened up with banish on Salia, had my succubus charm the Shadow Lord, then made quick work of Moora while she was feared. After that I kept Salia banished while I killed Shadow Lord. Salia was easy to clean up. All their HPs are in the 2500-3000 range so they die pretty easily.

Clear both sides of the steps before killing them tho if you plan on fearing.

Some time later, after many careful pulls, a fair few (luckily) successful feign deaths and pet revives I eventually got to the end.

I cleared the outside of the chamber first and took on the 3some by taking out Moora (followed by feign death - pet dies) then Salia (again feign death - pet dies) then took down Fel'dan last of all. Thought he would cream me since he was red, but after getting so far I had to have a go. After a great punch up I just managed to kill him.

I waited about 10 min for repop, keeping area clear. The 3 repopped separately, and so it was very easy to kill them separately.
