Description

These here Argent Dawn people commissioned ol' Smokey to do a little demolition work for 'em. Smokey's mammy ain't raised no dummy. When gold coin is slapped on the table, Smokey's services are available. That's my motto!

Now I'd be willing to split the commission with you if you're willing to do a little legwork. Here's the deal: I'm going to head over to Plaguewood and mark the buildings we need destroyed. You gather the components for the bombs. Meet back here when you've got everything. Deal?

Before you correct someone's math make sure you know all the facts first.

3 Mithril = Mithril Casing
2 Solid Stone = Solid Blasting Powder

1 Mageweave, 1 Solid Blasting Powder, 1 Mithril = Unstable Trigger

2 Mithril Casing, 1 Unstable Trigger, 2 Solid Blasting Powder = 4x HI-Explosive Bombs.

So in total we need
2 HI-Explosive Bomb Combines =
4 Mithril casings(12 Mithril)
2 Unstable Triggers(2 Mithril, 2 Mageweave, 2&nbsp Solid Blasting Powder(4 Solid Stone))
4 Solid Blasting Powder(8 Solid Stone)

8 Unstable triggers(8 Mithril, 8 Mageweave 8 Solid Blasting Powder(16 Solid Stone)

1 Gold Bar
2 Coarse Grinding Stone = 4 Coarse Stones
2 Thorium Bars

When we add of of them up we have
22 Mithril
10 Mageweave
28 Solid Stone
1 Gold Bar
2 Thorium Bar
4 Coarse Grinding Stone

Osacron has this slightly wrong. Hi-Explosive Bombs are created in batches of four so only two batches need to be crafted, reducing the materials required considerably.

Those of you who havent noticed this is a relatively easy way to get a fire res cape, crucial for any serious raiders.

For those of you that are engineers, you'll need about 22 mithril bars total to make the dynamite and the unstable triggers.

Still collecting the ore.. :P

In some realms this will be the best way to get the Fire Resistance of the quest reward in others, buying an equivalent item will be cheaper than acquiring the goods to complete the quest. The idea is to find out which applies to you before deciding whether or not to do this quest.

Actually, the Towelettes are pretty damned useful. As a Hunter, it's a useful trick for your epic quest. Not to mention, this is a free source of AD rep, (at Revered, it's one of the few sources you have), so I'm planning on hiring an engineering friend, buying the mats, finishing the quest, pick up some junk, vendor the item rewards and bank the Towelettes until my epic quest.

The part of the epic quest in question happens to be the Winterspring demon who is a right pain in the buttocks -- but the Towelettes are a way to remove his nasty curse from you if you accidentally slip into the 30 yard zone.

This quest is not worth doing at all...

It costs quite a bit, and takes quite a bit of time. And if that's not a kick in the ass, you get NO ARGENT DAWN REP!

At least I didn't get any rep at revered.

So if your doing this for the AD rep grind...don't.

after consulting web links and in-game trade windows, this is the final tally as was posted way back in april 2005-

for the triggers and bombs:
22 x mithril bar
10 x mageweave cloth
28 x solid stone

and for the gold rod:
1 x gold bar
4 x coarse stone

that is all

First off, thank you *very* much, Gandie, for laying it all out for Bomb/Trigger mats. You helped me immensely.

Second off, it costs about 15g to buy all the mats for the items. I spent the most money on buying a stack of 20 mithril bars, which was about 10g, while the rest of the mats cost less than 1g for however many needed. It was, all in all, a pretty easy quest, with a 6200 xp reward.

Yes, it costs money, but it does lead to a pretty fun quest, where you get to blow up buildings with the bombs you just made. I find amusement in blowing up buildings...*shifty eyes*

First I'm an engineer with the quest open and my engineering craft window open.
Second I will try to not make a mistake and be complete in my information.
Thrid I will start with the final desired product and break it down into the componets it takes to make, then break those down. Often a piece (mithril casing) can be bought for less on AH then the raw materials to make it.

Smokey LaRue wants
2 thorium bars,
1 golden rod,
8 Hi-Explosive bombs,
8 Unstable triggers.

8 Hi-Explosive bombs takes 2 makes of,
4 Hi-Explosive bombs per make takes
2 Mithril Casing,
1 Unstable trigger
2 Solid blasting powder.

4 Mithril Casing @ 3 Mithril bar per = 12 Mithril bars (for the casings)

10 Unstable triggers (yes ten) @ 1 mithril bar, 1 mageweave cloth, 1 solid blasting powder per = 10 Mitril bar, 10 mageweave cloth, 10 solid blasting powder.

14 Solid blasting powder @ 2 solid stone per = 28 solid stone.
(edit) yes 14, 10 for the 10 unstable triggers and 4 for the 2 makes of 4 Hi-Explosive bombs.

So if walk up to an Engineer and hand him,
28 solid stone,
22 Mithril bars,
10 Mageweave Cloth,
and ask politly and possibly include some coin he can hand you back
8 Hi-Explosive bombs and
8 Unstable triggers.

You can also hand him,
14 solid blasting powder
2 Mithril casings
10 mithril bars
10 mageweave cloth
and he can hand you back the same
8 Hi-Explosive bombs
8 Unstable triggers.

The reason I break it down like this is often Mithril casings or solid blasting powder will sell for less then the ingrediants to make them. This is do to people skilling up on these items then dumping them on AH.
