The Scarlet Oracle, Demetria

The Scarlet Crusade is on the move. Somewhere along the road from Tyr's Hand to Stratholme you will find the Oracle, Demetria, and her entourage. Hunt her down and slay her. Return to Nathanos Blightcaller should you succeed.
  •
Demetria slain

Description

Demetria is chief advisor to the Grand Crusader. She is called the Oracle due to her 'otherworldly' senses. She has successfully assisted the Crusade in several of their victories against the Scourge.

While this ruse was successful in exposing her, if she truly does possess psychic powers, she will undoubtedly be expecting some sort of trouble. You are going to provide that 'trouble.'

Track down the Oracle and terminate her. They should be moving out of Tyr's Hand as we speak. Make me proud, worm.

Demetria only spawns AT the time someone accepts this quest. She spawns instantly inside Tyr's Hand as soon as someone accepts it. She paths 1 time from Tyr's Hand to Stratholme, following the road directly. Once she gets to Stratholme she despawns, period. In order to get her again you must have someone abandon the quest and re-accept it or you will be waiting a long time for a mob that's not there.....

Demetria only spawns when the quest is accepted. She starts in Tyr's Hand and walks along the road to Stratholme.

If, like me, you accept the quest but don't do it right away, you'll have to abandon and re-accept the quest.

Demetria herself is a shadow-priest type mob, with around 30,000 hit points.

She is escorted by 8-10 adds, each of which can heal and be resurrected by Demetria -- if in range.

The key to this encounter is to have a Mage bodypull the adds, and another member of the group use an instant spell on Demetria to separate her from the adds (which should be attacking the Mage). The adds have around 1200-1500 HP, so the Mage can easily kill them solo. However, the adds must ONLY be killed when they are out of range from resurrection by Demetria.

Once the adds are dead, return to the group who should already be grinding Demetria's HP down.

Grats on your new Bow/Wand/Shield!

Did this tonight with 5.&nbsp

60 Priest
60 Warrior
60 Shaman
60 Druid
60 Warlock

Not very hard if you just focus on Demetria and put down Tremor Totems (stay within range!).&nbsp She'll Mind Control you, but don't worry.&nbsp Her 8 Pally guards are tough, but you don't even need to touch them.

BTW.&nbsp She spawns in Tyr's Hand, travels along the road to Stratholme, and despawns once she arrives there.&nbsp To respawn her, just do as somebody said above.&nbsp Have 1 person in your group abandon the quest, then get it from Nathanos Blightcaller again.&nbsp Demetria will then spawn in Tyr's Hand and takes approximately 3 minutes to get out of the elite area there on her way towards Stratholme.

Soloed with 60 Warlock. Did it this way:

Get the quest.
Run to Corin's Crossing.
Wait for Demetria to come with her group.
The group will aggro on the mobs in Corin's Crossing, pull Demetria immediately when they aggro on the mobs and keep running somewhere (I ran to the road leading WPL, but may be done on other place)

Throw Curse of Doom, Corruption and Siphon Life and just run all the time.

Repeat last part.

As easy as stomping on Gnomes.

The rotten apple has 5 charges. While disguised as a scarlet crusade member, you cannot attack the mobs -- and they can't attack you. Your healer can use this to provide aggro-free healing, and quick ressurrects if the rest of the party wipes.

After reading some of the comments left above I figured it'd be a good idea to get a large group together and take her down. We quickly found 15 people to do it. We tracked her for a while, aggro'd her a bit early, prepared for the worst, and... nothing. She dropped like a stone. And, much to my disappointment, we got no credit for killing her either.

This is not a raidable quest any more.

Perhaps it was changed in a recent patch.

Take two: a group of 4 clothwearers and a rogue band together from the original 15 (the only ones who really needed the kill) and there's another, smaller group, who were nice enough to stick around to take care of the pally guards while we took down Demetria. All in all, it took maybe 2 minutes.

She has escorts. They respawn 2 for every 1 you kill. Dont kill them. Do this instead....
Ambush her on the road close to the town SW of lights hope. Have the tank pull the escorts into the town. You need a GOOD tank for this. The undead in the town will keep the escorts busy. Kill the oracle. Done.
If you are a caster, the reward is a wand named Stormrager. It does good damage, is fast , and has good atts. Possibly the best nature wand in the game but dont get rid of your banshee finger and torch of austin just yet. Remember that there are things in the game that are immune to nature damage but I know of nothing that is immune to nature AND frost AND fire.
If you carry all 3 you will be able to "assessorize for any occasion"&nbsp LOL !

This quest was around before the AV Battleground was.

The Bloodseeker has no Stamina, although the Agil and Stre make it very nice for DPS Warriors and Rogues, as well as a fine favourite for Hunters.

The Gorewood was actually quite nice for Tanks to use because of the limited Stre ans Stam it offered. However, Willeys Portable Howitzer got a buff a few patches ago, the 8 AP and 9 Stam make it a very good replacement.

However, this quest is still nice to do if only because of the trickyness of it all and the fun factor. Not to mention the 6g 78s you make from the Quest and the 4g 16s you get from flogging the Wand (Best sellable item)

There is a way you can seperate the adds from the main mob, regardless of them being resurrected. The key is when you kill the adds, as long as they are not within AGGRO range of you OR Demetria, then they will get resurrected and just stand there. I had a warlock use seed of corruption on them, and they all died and were all instantly resurrected. However, since we were not in aggro range of the adds, and since Demetria was not close enough to proximity aggro them, they just stood there and wandered around.

As a note, she has 9 adds with her 'Scarlet Trooper'

With a well setup group of good players this quest is a breeze. Our group consisted of
  • 60 Shaman
  • 60 Warlock
  • 60 Warlock
  • 60 Hunter
  • 56 Priest
Hunter Volley'd the guards and led them into an exploding trap and kited them around with aspect of the cheetah up, meanwhile Shaman pulled out the oracle and started beating the crap out of her with both warlocks. When agro broke on some of the guards, the priest AOE feared, and by that time the oracle was already dead. Killed the stragglers, we left no survivors. Totally feasible with proper setup to do this with less than 5 members.
PS Stop your stupid bickering.

Here's how it went (mind you, we tried 6 times total): The guards were drawn off either by a mob or the shaman in ghost wolf.&nbsp The warlock then DoT'd her and dragged her away from the guards.&nbsp When the mob died, the shaman used Earthbind to slow the guards (in ghost wolf the shaman ran until aggro dropped).&nbsp This gave the warlock enough time to get far enough away from the guards that they ran back to the path even though Demetria was still engaged.&nbsp Curse of Doom, Immolation, and lots of bolts from the Warlock.&nbsp The felhound devoured all magics the oracle attacked with.&nbsp The shaman stood back, dropping tremor and healing close to the warlock, with tranquil air further away.&nbsp Kept the heals on both the pet and the warlock.&nbsp Healthstones came in very handy.&nbsp She died after about a minute.&nbsp No guards were fought during the battle.

Got her down with a warrior, rogue, priest (me), and 2 mages. The mages kept the guards novaed and away from Demetria while the rogue and warrior beat her down. This is important because the adds heal her. They're quite a good team. =\ I had to run back and forth healing the mages and warrior. The disguise worked and I wasn't attacked by them but I couldn't dispel mind control on my party. That's the only thing to look out for.

Did this&nbsp in a 5 man with no problems today.
party was (all 60's)
hunter (me)
mage
priest
warrior
rogue
I laid out a frost trap to slow them down, and had aspect of the cheetah on myself.&nbsp Just before the mobs hit corrins crossing, I pulled the shadowpriest with distracting shot.&nbsp The mage then began AOEing adds as I used the "jump shot" tecnique with serpent sting, cuncussive shot, and arcane shot to kite her towards tyr's hand.&nbsp With Dimetria gone, the adds are easy to AOE since there is noone to sheild or heal them.&nbsp By this time I was a ways off, roughly halfway down the road that runs between tyrs hand and corrin's crossing. The party mounted and caught up with me.&nbsp As soon as they arrived, we killed her with no problems.&nbsp Noone in the party ever got below half health.
One thing to note, that I learned on an failed earlier attempt that was done sans priest...&nbsp you CANNOT kite her then feign her back to the party.&nbsp if you do this any dead gaurds instantly respawn as soon as she is out of combat.

If you need a hand with this on dragonblight, I'll hapily run the kite again.&nbsp My toon's name is Mescal.

I did the quest with 60mage(me), 58mage, 60hunter, 60hunter, and 57rogue.

The easist way to complete this quest is for someone to kite the oracle away from the guards since the guards heal her. Then have a mage AoE down the guards, they're very easy to kill with thier low life. Everyone else focus fires on the oracle who is kept away from the guards. Oracle fears and drains mana/life, but other than that, a piece of cake to kill. And no one died during the fight.

I got her away from the guards by shooting when they attacked a player running down the road or a mob at corin's crossing or plaguewood, however, make sure your group mates know who is kiting her... if they try to put DOTs on her, they get the aggro from the guards once they split off from the oracle.&nbsp Had a very dense warlock in the group that couldn't understand that concept and got us wiped twice.&nbsp It helps to have a group mate trail along side the guards so that you know when they have given up the chase.

I'm a 60 priest and my friend, 60 hunter, easily killed her.&nbsp I first ran by them on my mount to aggro the guards while he shot and pulled her in the opposite direction.&nbsp After the guards stopped chasing me, I caught up to him and her.&nbsp I hopped off my mount, ate the apple (I still had 4 charges from the previous quest) and started healing him.&nbsp

He did most of the dmg to her while he was kiting her (and consiquently didnt take much damage) but when he ran out of mana, he melee'd her while I laid down the heals.&nbsp

If you run low on mana, shield the person, heal them to full, give them a renew, then stop casting for about 5 seconds and you will be out of combat.&nbsp Drink up, then resume healing.

Easy mode, and I now have a nice new wand.

just duo'ed her, two mages. I'm 0/0/51, partner is 10/0/41 for clearcasting.
Had him keep the oracle busy while I took care of the escorts with imp blizz/permafrost/frostbite talents. both had elementals out to make htings easier. both wailed on her untill he was near dead, then he ice blocked to give me aggro while he bandage and evo, he did for me when i was almost dead, cold snap, reapeat. after he got her off me the second time she was almost dead and killed easily with no problems. we're both in mostly pre-MC gear with just belt of t1, no hwl sets or nothin. easy.

took 2 tries, the first time she mind controlled me when she was at ~236 health before i could get of an instant cast (damn global cooldown). got to walk with her and her respawned escorts till MC wore off and i blinked away ^_^

Just completed this quest with a 60 Shadow Priest, 58 Shadow Priest and 58 Warlock.

The 60 Priest aggroed the paladin guards and led them away while the 58 Priest and Warlock led Demetria in the opposite direction.

The plan had been to lose aggro on the guards so that they would return to the road - as someone mentioned here. That no longer seems to work however, as the guards ran back to Demetria after the priest lost aggro - and this was a *long* way.

The 58's had almost killed Demetria by this point anyway so all of us blasted her down and then killed the guards.

Not easy.. this was our 4th or 5th tactic. This one at least worked on the first attempt though )

Finished this with a group of 5. Mage/warrior/lock/priest/rogue. It may of been possible with less, as Demetria went down rather fast with little HP loss due to the priest ruling but more is always better. Tactics here helped - here's how we did it.

Have warrior rush demetria, get a hit in (for aggro retention) then mage go in and low rank AE the guards to pull - make sure mage tags all guards and sees all aggro on him (an initial priest shield helps here) then blink away from Demetria fight. Frost nova, wait the nova timer out a few then CoC to hurt them a bit then continue to move away. Once at a decent range (almost not within visible sight of the rest of group), AE/blink or Nova again (coldsnap), CoC, blizzard and that should kill the guards - they drop fast. Do not kill the guards too close to Demetria and make sure you have all the guards on you! that's the key. she will rez them.

Make sure warrior is using shield for shield bash and Rogue is kickin' his heart out as interupts on Demetria. Stop Demetria from casting at all costs! Have lock cast curse of tongues and dps away.

The key is making sure the mage has ALL of the guards aggro'd and far away from Demetria. Leaving even one can wreak havoc on those dealing with Demetria. She has about 27k health but will go down fast if she can't cast.

Not that bad at all.

Req: Hunter & healer (priest / druid preferred)

Hunter starts by placing the aoe freezing trap in front of them by Tyr's hand gate. He then strats kiting demetria as usual. Being immune, Demetria runs straight through the trap, but her guardians get stuck badly.

The key here, is to get distance between Demetria and her guards. Demetria runs faster than the guards, so avoid letting her stop to cast anything (use rank 1 arcane in the beginning from 30-41y). With the trap, and simply running, the guards should fall far behind. Once this is achieved the hardest part is over.

Kite her up the road almost to the undead infested village, circle around it through East and get back on the road heading north. You should have clear sailing all the way to the gates near strat ud enterance.

Demetria herself is an easily kited. Only thing she can cast succesfully is sw:p, which the healer can dispel or negate with heals. Healer with instant heals is preferred so that he won't fall behind. Thanks to 1.9, sw:p no longer dazes when using cheetah, so there's nothing to slow the hunter down. And about Demetria healing, nope, doesn't happen. Only the guardians heal her (a lot), but we already got rid of them, didn't we.

I've personally tested this 3 times. At first try, the paladins stayed too close and kept healing, but the others went according to plan.

Easy and effective and can be done with the crappiest gear you can find. (Though I don't recommend trying on peak hours, because the enemy faction will screw things up if you run into them)
