Satyr Horns (16)

Description

Heya! I've been traveling through Ashenvale, heading towards Ratchet, and decided to make a stop here at Splintertree. I'm always looking for an opportunity, and it seems that satyr horns are in high demand in Ratchet these days.

After asking around here, it seems that the satyrs in Night Run, Satyrnaar, and Xavian all have the type of horns I am looking for. I'm no match for those satyrs... but you look like you might be!

Tell you what, you collect the horns for me and I'll make it worth your time.

Solo'd this one and it was fun beating on some demons for once. I managed to get all the horns in one area, Satyrnaar. While collecting horns I looted a ring, some nice boots, and some nice pants. Just follow the road east and when you pass the first bridge you'll see Satyrnaar on yout left. At the gate might one mob but he might be stealthy. Keep your eyes open in this area.

My results:
You gain 2100 experience.
Your reputation with Ratchet has increased.
Received 20 Silver.

This is a great quest to do along side Warsong Supplies, as you have to kill Satyrs to get to the Warsong Oil

I'm a 29 undead warlock and I found this quest pretty easy. Only took about 30 mins. Went to Satyrnaar (82,49 entrance). Couldn't find the oil though.

Bleakheart Satyr 5/7 kills (71%).
Bleakheart trickster 5/13 kills (38%).
Bleakheart Hellcaller 2/6 kills (33%).
Bleakheart Shadowstalker 4/12 kills (33%).

The Shadowstalkers use stealth, so, make sure you look out for them. Also, the respawn is quick. If you're a warlock, you should use your sense demons ability. It helps you avoid stealthed ones and look for the satyrs with the higher droprate.

The satyrs casts a curse called "Curse of the blackheart" wich I think is a pain in the ass, because it's stuns you random times for 3 minutes :(

For those of you who find the satyrs in Satyrnaar too hard, there are much weaker ones at Night Run (67,55) which have pretty much the same drop rate.

Curse of the Bleakheart - Lasts 3 minutes

Causes a debuff "Chest Pains" which last for 5 seconds.

Chest Pains...

-causes 21 damage
-stuns you for 5 seconds
-has no internal cooldown or diminishing returns
-can chain proc back to back causing 10 seconds of stun, sometimes even 15 seconds of stun
-happens at the worst possible times

If you cannot remove curses, be prepared to be stunned right before a heal goes off that will save your life. Be prepared to be stunned while trying to open a chest, failing 5 times because it stuns you before you can finish opening. Be prepared to be ganked by an alliance and be pretty much helpless while the curse stun locks you from fighting back. Be prepared for mobs to run away from you at low health and you're stunned and helpless to stop them from getting friends.

Also to note while stunned, you cannot dodge/miss/parry/block so your health goes down a lot faster especially if you have multiple mobs on you.

It's an evil evil evil curse and blizzard is the devil for adding it to the game and making satyr horns drop 1 per 10 satyr :-/

OK, for this quest, there are 3 Satyr camps you can go to. Satrnaar, Xavian, and Night Run.

If you can dispel curses, like mages, go to Satyrnaar

If you don't use magic, like warriors and rouges, go to Night Run, because the special ability of the enemies there is a 6 second silence

Everyone else, go to Xavian. The enemies there have a full heal they cast at low health, but it is easy to either silence or out DPS their cast or stun them.

There are also Satyrs in Night Run, around 67,50. Not sure if they actually drop the horns or not since I found them after dying many times in Satyrnaar. The ones in Night Run around 25-27 level range, much closer to the level of the quest.

Completed this no probs at Night Run. 67,55 was the right kind of area. Got a little lost finding it, but when I got there it didn't take too long and I levelled up to 30 on the mobs XP. >.<

This quest is tough for solo rogues around level 26-27 because the demons at Night Run are rogues too, and they see through stealth almost every time. They hit you with a Curse of Weakness that lasts 5-minutes, too - even if you kick them to interrupt their cast, they just recast and recast 'til they hit you.

Will try at Satyrnaar and see if it's any better for a rogue.

This has been one of those quests in the game that I have always hated doing. Today I finally found a way to make this quest as well as obtaining Warsong Oil. Today I stumbled upon an area I hadn't known about called Night Run, in Ashenvale. The Satyrs there are level 25/26, seem substantially easier and don't have the curse that stuns you (most annoying thing in the game). I recommend anyone pulling their hair out over this quest to try out Night Run, it made my questing experience stressless.

It took us 2 hours to complete this quest. Well we need to collect 3 sets of 16 but anyway takes forever. How many times you have to kill the same Satyr? Anyway the warsong oil is on the tents. One beside the red columns ruins and there was another one on the tents right in front of the ruins. The good thing about this was I got to level-up thanks to all the killing but the dropping ratio sucks big time.

20% drop rate on level 25-26.

That's on average 80 mob kills to complete.

That's a lot.

Also, 80 mob kills for 175xp each (at level 25) means a total of 14000xp + 2100 from the quest.

That's more than half a level.

There are three locations of mobs you can kill for the quest. Either the stun curse, the full heal or the silence. Up to you to choose. The silence mobs are 25-27 and the easiest ones to kill, even though droprate is 20% instead of 30%.

i don't know what you fellas are talking about but the collecting horns is a great way to lvl up and you can also get the Oil for the "warsong supplies" quest with gives you your choice of a rare blue item.

Oh, and I'm not sure what people are talking about when they said they got no drops, I made 4g and got 3 stacks of silk just by taking 1/2 hr and getting 16 horns...

The droprate of these things is very low and when you do this in a group (you almost have to be at least 2 to pull tihs of at 25-27 since the satyr stand in groups of 2-3) it takes forever to get this thing done. Never again!

Wasn't that bad of a drop rate..MUCH better than those darn Elixir Quests in Tauren Mill...but that Curse 3 minutes and you can get stunned at anytime .. that was a bit too much.. Found a good drop rate in Satyrnaar. Thankfully there was someone also doing the quest we didn't group but he kept removing curse everytime he ran by me.

Ionno if blizzard changed quest with the patch, but the droprate is hiiiigh if u go to nightrun. I think they changed whatever curse of weakness u guys r talkin bout cause now its just a 5-7 sec no spell casting silence they cast on u... easy. Practically every satyr i killed dropped a horn. May just be chagned with patch...

ERRRRRRRRRR! I regret dragging my Undead butt to Ashenvale. It was a big pain in the butt. Nice money reward (sorta), but... never again... never... again... **chants**

The quest is too annoying..I'm going to abandon it..REAL low drop rate. I was level 26 while doing it and i was grouped with three other guys ranging from lvl 22-26, and we never finished the quest...although we did get mad xp.

P.S. The Warsong Oil needed for warsong supplies can be found here

This quest is a real pain on high-populated PvP-realms as lv25-30 Alliance seem to farm honor here. Due to the low drop rate you're gonna be there for a while, and the curse (Curse of Blackheart, weakens your heart) makes you stunned for 3 (or was it 4) seconds on random occasion and can really screw you over in a PvP-situation.
