Blackfathom Villainy

Bring the head of Twilight Lord Kelris to Bashana Runetotem in Thunder Bluff.
Head of Kelris

Description

Strength has left me. Your help is needed!

Long ago this site was a great temple of Elune. But misfortune led to ruin when the corruption of an Old God seeped up from beneath the earth and tainted the sacred Moon Well.

Aku'Mai, servant of the Old God, rose from the waters.

The Twilight's Hammer cultists have allied with the naga to occupy these grounds. The cultists, led by Kelris, sacrifice innocents to Aku'Mai for power.

Slay Kelris and bring his head to Bashana in Thunder Bluff, <name>, please.

For Horde, you can not go to the alliance town (Darnassus). You can still get this quest, but you pick it up from the guard himself in Blackfathom Deep. You will find him on the ground next to a campfire in a small room off of the room with the named turtle. The named turtle room has 4 exits:

1. The one you came in from the entrance
2. Clockwise from that is the way to move on to the rest of the instance
3. Clockwise from 2. is the room with the guard and campfire
4. Clockwise from 3. is the room with the named naga boss.

Note also this room has no spawn, so it is a safe place to go afk, logout, etc.

The mob you're looking for is in Blackfathom Deeps. There are actually two ways to start this quest. One is in ThunderBluff. The other is actually "inside" of Blackfathom, off a horde mob near the "giant turtle" room. You loot his dead corpse and the quest starts if you haven't already done it. The turn in NPC is in the horde outpost on the west shores of Ashenvale.

This boss is at the back of the instance, beyond all the cultist mobs. He is...doing something (channelling?) at an altar in the middle of a large room. You can fight around him, just don't get too close or he will 'wake up'. Be sure to clear all the Twilight Hammer mobs from the room before you start.

Kelris is not that hard by himself. His only real trick is to cast Sleep. If you are doing this instance under-manned, that might cause problems.

Rumor has it that if you attempt to fight Kelris without first getting the Blessing of Blackfathom (from the Murloc altar earlier in the instance), he has the ability to mind control your character, thus making them activate the flames around his altar, which in turn summons waves of enemies. I have not yet fought Kelris without the Blessing, however, so I can't confirm.

Once you beat Kelris, you can activate the flames at the four corners of the altar to open the way to the final area. Each flame will summon monsters, so use one flame then clear out the enemies it summons. Use the next flame and so on. Don't use all four flames in quick succession or you'll be swarmed.

I highly recommend casters do this quest as early as they can, especially if you intend to do any wanding. The wand you can get as a reward is as good a level 32-34 green wand.

Did this yesterday with a full group, 26war, 23pala, 24priest(me), 23hunter, 24Mage.

We went through this verry easy, after a while we lost the hunter due to connection problems on his side, so from the murloc boss till end we had it 4manned..

Went really well, although I as priest had to stick to healing only. Sometimes the mobs just pile up like mad and you will have alot of add-ons to worry about.

as a 24 priest I always had atleast 800 mana left out of my 1.5k total. (+78 healing gear though).

A pala is verry usefull for Blessing of Wisdom, combine it with a minor mana oil or something like that and you'll keep your mana good most of time, usefull during fights.

You'll get a blessing from the stone at the murloc boss which will help you against Kel'ris. However, never light all the 4 candles at once. you'll whipe within a minute ^^

Kel'ris room must be cleared completely before you take him. Just let a hunter or warrior with range carefully pull 1 or 2 at a time (or more if your group can handle). Then you should be fine.. Just dispel the sleeped party members and he should be down pretty fast. We killed him verry easy and fast..

Like the above said, the Blessing of Blackfathom or whatever it's called has nothing to do with the Kelris fight. He'll MC, but it's very rare. If it does happen, just dps Kelris down (the MC'd person can only melee). I belive it's also channeled, but I'll have to run BFD again to find out.

Yes, this quest can be obtained at 18 (With a lvl 18 wand weilder doing 30dps with the wand, it ROCKS, especially in WSG)

For Alliance to turn in the quest, go to Darnassus, ask a guard where the Alchemist trainer is, and when you get there, go to the 2nd floor to find the Dawnwatcher

I'm not sure where people are getting only 330XP, I think it was a typo. I (29 warlock) got 3300XP and all the goodies.
I also found Bashana Runetotem (to turn in the completed quest) at Thunder Bluff/Elder Rise at 71,34

You dont have to go to Darnasus or any other alliance territorium. Just go into BFD Instance. And when you are in the middle with all the turtles, there is 4 or 5 way out, at the underwater way just beside the way going on, is the man to talk to. He give you the quests killing Kelris =)

Happy fraggin' - Doopie (Bloodfeather horde)

"Okkkk....This is what i did. I killed all the other turtles in the circle before i killed the boss. After killing them all, i went back to where i came in and went North East in to the waater. There are a few of those lizard things and i had to stay back because only me and a lvl 60 did it. So he killed them all, we swam directly NE of the entrance and went down. Came up to the guys cave and got the quest..... The rest was soooo simple because the lvl 60 just killed everything...

REMEMBER ONLY FOR HORDE!

LOL...ALLIANCE SUCKERS"
[pad]

I'm afraid it's avaiable for alliance to, oh great Sage. In fact there's an optional pre-quest for alliance so they get more XP.

Open mouth. Insert Foot.

50 elites did not swarm into the room after you clicked one flame. First of all, you have to click all of the flames to get all of the mobs. That's ow it works. Second of all, te large wave of makuras are not elite. In reality there are only 8-12 elites released, and they come 2-4 at a time. Each flame releases 1 (one) wave of mobs. You can't trigger all of them with one click.

After you can fight a bit red turtle on an island, the water surrounding the island hides routes off to a bunch of different areas. One way (doesn't lead off into a tunnel) has a dead guy lying there. Speak to him and you should get the quest. Runetotem, who you turn the quest in to, is on the Elder Rise of Thunder Bluff.

Check the posted messages under the Alliance version of this quest for pointers and advice for actually killing Kelris (hint: DON'T LIGHT THE LAMPS).

I saw a 19 with the buckler running wsg so it should be available roughly 17-18. Good luck getting in at that level. Unless you're letting a few guildies run you through the instance. (or buying a run)
