The Real Threat

Slay Or'Kalar and bring his Head to Korin Fel in the Hammerfall outpost.
Or'Kalar's Head

Description

You serve my husband well, <class>, but he does not know why Hammerfall is under attack.

Or'Kalar, Mug'thol's pawn in Stromgarde, has an intense hatred for my husband, and wishes nothing more than my husband's death for defeating him years ago.

My auguries tell me that Or'Kalar has laid a trap for my husband, so I have hidden signs of the ogre's presence from him.

My husband will rush off foolishly if he learns of the ogre's whereabouts and I would ask for your help in slaying the creature.

He is not in the tower, we fought to the top thinking he was.

He is N/E of the tower on the second floor of a roofless building.

When you come down the&nbsp "ramp" into the oger area&nbsp and start down the main street you will see a road&nbsp going up a hill to the north.&nbsp I belive it's the only road going up a hill that direction. Go up it and he will be to the west of the top of that street real close with 3 other ogers.

Don't fight your way through Stromgarde, follow the outside of the castle wall to the right (as you face the front gate).&nbsp about 3/4 of the way around there is a hole in the wall that leads directly into the ogre part. go through the opening (hug the wall).&nbsp Follow the inside of the wall to the left.&nbsp when you pass the tower hop down in the corner.&nbsp The boss and three level 38 elites will be right in front of you in a roofless building.&nbsp Stay back against the wall and move to the building on your left.&nbsp Take out the mob in there first.&nbsp In the same building with the boss there is a blueish looking ogre.&nbsp You may want to take him out also (he is easily pullable).&nbsp Go back to the spot against the wall in between where you jumped down and the building where you killed the first mob.&nbsp Attack the boss (probably will not be able to pull any of the four singley).&nbsp Concentrate all firepower on the boss (in case you die before killing his thugs).&nbsp With a little bit of healing and some luck you have finished the quest!&nbsp Hearthstone out and drink to your glory!&nbsp My friend and I (39 Hunter and 41 hunter) did this the other day, lost one of the pets but otherwise came away fine.&nbsp A word of caution for hunters: Don't call your pet until after you have hopped down off the wall!&nbsp Learned this the hard way when our pets ran all the way down the ramp and back around to where we were (and brought plenty of mobs in tow)&nbsp =(

Me (a rogue), a paladin, and two mages (all around level 35) managed to complete this quest. What we did was sap and sheep the three adds, then go for the boss. The problem with this is that it requires good timing so that it don't get too nasty.

The boss will also generally pull up another add that isn't nearby.

A healer is VERY much advised. Will be very difficult to do without it.

If you go for the boss, it's alright if you kill him then die cos you can get the loot after you kill him then run like hell. =D

Or'Kalar confirmed as non-elite mob in patch 2.3, as well as all other elites in this area.

Quest is easy now. I found him next to one linked mob in the "house" immediately East of the Tower of Arathor in the Ogre area of Stromgarde.

I did need to feign death though, after a few adds spawned right at the end of the fight. I don't know if they were linked or a result of a couple allied guys who ran behind me just before the fight. Be prepared.

Just so you know Ok'kalar has 3 lvl 38 elite shaman ogres standing 2 feet away from him, so dont plan to solo him =/

the mob himself is really easy. The tricky part is pulling him. When you go into the ogre area of stormgarde he will be on your left behind this ruined statue thing. The problem is he has four ogre buddies with him, meaning if you run in there you will be dealing with 5 elite mobs at once.

I did this quest with a 39 priest, 44 mage and me a 40 warrior. There are two mobs in the clump there that can be pulled out with out getting the rest. the one fartherest to the left and the one farthest to the right, if you are looking at him head on. Just wait for them to path the farthest away from or'kalar and pull. IF you time it right then you can only have to fight 3 mobs at once.

He's got four shamans right to his skin, and yes they do heal him - that is, if you're lucky. If you're unlucky, he spawns in a spot further in Stormgarde, with the four shamans AND two Boulderfist Lords. I guess they're trying to give the message this is really NOT meant to be soloed. Also found out the hard way if you die, the corpses will evaporae before you can run back, so can't count on doing it by corpse run either. The respawn time is sufficiently long that you can get a few vanish's in if you're a rogue I guess.

He does no longer have any elite guards and is quite easily spankable ;) Just look out for patrols and multipulls and everything should be fine. He's situated near the big tower in the ogre part of Stromgarde keep. In Stromgarde there are several other quests, Call to Arms and Sigil of Strom for example, be sure to pick them up as well.

Also, watch out for rare elites, they hit hard and don't even have guaranteed green drops =S

Good luck and fast leveling.

If you're high enough to finish this quest then you might as well do Into the Scarlet Monastery and just get https://classicdb.ch/item=4139 the Sword of Omen, it has more stats and a ton more DPS.

I did this quest with 2 others (lvl 41 and 48) and its a blast. Grab other elite stormguarde quests and do them also. We were going to try to pull, but figured it would be more fun to just mob it. There are many ogres and humans around, you get hit constantly, so be wary and have plenty of heals. He is in the ogre corner of the keep. Go through the main entrance and then head to the ogre side. It got pretty frantic in there, but not difficult to do if you don't lose track. Great XP's overall, if you not looking to just rush in and out.

I completed this solo with a lvl 40 Holy Paladin. I pulled the Lord next to him away and killed him. Then I attacked Or'Kalar, silencing him as I went. No problems at all, did not get attacked by his mob.

Soloed as a lvl 36 holy priest. Approach Stromgard from the main entrance but don't enter. Follow the wall around to the right until you reach the broken wall that puts you right above the Shamans, & Lords. Enter the opening and turn left. Pull t & kill the single ogres as you move along the top of the wall. You shouldn't aggro any but the one you attack. Eventually you will get to the area with Or'kalar. All Non-elites. You will need to pass him, jump off the wall and kill each one individually. Start with the one in the corner and work your way back to Or'Kalar. Pull the closest one of his associates first, kill, then pull him. Once he is dead continue to work your way allong the wall toward the structure, killing as you go. I was able to jump back up to the top of the wall by jumping up in the corners. Got back out the same way I came in.
Good luck

Sword of Hammerfall is a fine green sword if you don't want to spend lots of money on blue weapons at AH. Warriors/hunters/rogues can use it for a few lvls. Or'kalar got 1 add the trick is to kill the add first. Or'kalar got around 5.500 hp and easy to kill as a group of 3. The sword looks pretty cool as well )

In order to get this quest you first need to complete the "The Hammer May Fall" quest from Tarren Mill, and then the two parts of "Call to Arms" that follow.

soloed as a L33 hunter, coming in the back way (the hole around 21,70). he only had 1 shaman add; i sent my pet to attack the add, and kited Or'kalar by jumping up and down from the corner directly east of Or'kalar's position. the corner is between the outhouse (on the lower level) and the cooking pot (on the upper level). by going back and forth between the upper and lower levels, and using mend pet a few times, i was able to survive long enough to DPS Or'kalar down.

at that point, i suicided, then ran out around through the hole in the back of the ogre area, rezzing on the very top ledge. from there, it was a simple matter to run back out the way i'd come in.
