Raging Beast's Blood (30)

Description

The dreadsteeds dwell on another world, on the fiery Plains of Xoroth, and to bind one of those famed beasts you must invoke powerful glyphs. I can scribe the glyphs on a parchment for you, but first I will need a special ink.

In distant Winterspring there dwells a race of owl beasts. Once pure creatures, they were turned mad by the demonic emanations of the Darkwhisper Gorge and now roam the snows in a frenzy.

Their blood is what I need to ink your parchment. Bring it to me.

The very best place for this is NE Winterspring. You will find Owlmobs between 56 and 59 (if I remember correctly) and the drop rate was certainly greater than 50% at level 60.

I don't use any map-cheats so I have to explain where they are - if you look on the Winterspring map you very probably have a bit still not filled in, in the very NE of the map head up there - if you do have it filled out - then you'll see theres like a cave - except its not a cave it's a tunnel.

You don't need to go through that tunnel but if you head up there to the entrance you will not help but notice the area is brimming with Owlbears.

I just finished this quest near Hidden Cove in about 1hr 15min.

Here's some hard numbers calculated with the help of Cosmos.

Crazed Owlbeast = 44%(8/18)
Beserk Owlbeast = 31%(11/35)
Moontouch Owlbeast = 23%(11/47)
-----------------------------
Total = approx 33% (30/100)

Lots of feathers, pots, eggs, and $$ also

on a side note to some of the posts above. This isn't the worst quest, or a stupid quest at all. It's incredibly easy and you get $$ from it. Be happy that our epic mount is free, compared to other chars. I just wish this could be obtained at lvl 59 since you are basically grinding for all that time.

There are plenty of these at 65,21 just outside of Hidden Grove & inside as well. Took me about 1hr to complete. It's much more fun if you have 1 other person in your party.

If you're Horde, you might want to do the Wild Guardians quest chain (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4521) from Bloodvenom Post in Felwood at the same time if you haven't already. It wants you to kill the same owlbeasts that drop these items.

The droprate isn't as bad as it looks, at least it wasn't for me. I was getting one blood off of every other owlbeast I killed, I'd estimate the drop rate for me was more like 40-50%.

I just completed this quest and here are some numbers to go by.

Berserk: Killed 33 Blood 16 48%
Moontouched: Killed 25 Blood 8 32%
Crazed: Killed 12 Blood 4 33%
Raging: Killed 10 Blood 2 20%

Seems the best route is to stay at the Hidden Grove area and kill the Owlbeasts there. After killing six Raging Owls on the way up and not getting the drop I tried the Berserk Owlbeasts and they dropped every 3 to 5th kill.

Also a good source of Ironfeathers for leatherworking as well as E'Ko if you completed the quest in Everlook for the Witch Doctor. Occasional green drops to sell and plenty of Giant Eggs for cooking.

It seems like ANY species of owlbeast is sufficient in Winterspring.&nbsp Owl Wing Thicket is just full of them.&nbsp Haven't tested the drop rate, though seems to be at least as good as the Raging Owlbeasts

Oh, sure, it seems to be about a 10-12% drop rate, but just throw on some music, grab some tea, and grind away.

Now, do keep in mind that with every WoW collect quest, the drop rate goes down to 0.005% once you're looking for the last one.

The area by 65,21 is infinitely superior to the location in the south. There are enough owlbeasts here to keep me virtually constantly killing (6 at a time) at level 67.

Also, the drop rate according to mobinfo while I killed them was 22% on both types of critters.

I basically just grinded out the camp at Dun Mandarr (near 60,60).&nbsp There's a continuous spawning cycle of about 8-10 owl-beasts of various sorts, including 2 in the cave.&nbsp Pretty soon you get into a rythm.&nbsp Took at least two hours, maybe more, I prolly killed more then 100 to get my 30 bloods.

Also got:&nbsp 35 GiantEggs, 87 Ironfeathers!, 4 ElegantWritingTools, 3 DelicateFeathers, 5 WickedClaws, 3 MysteriousUnhatchedEggs, 1 StarRuby, and 1 Thorium Lockbox.&nbsp Didn't count coins found.&nbsp Sold everything (except box & ruby) for about 3 gold.

I headed south on the road from Everlook and went to Owl Wing Thicket (65, 61).&nbsp Tons of owl beasts here the drop rate was about 20-25%.&nbsp I got my bloods in almost exactly an hour.

I wasn't the only one there people showed up on and off.&nbsp The owls respawn pretty fast, though - so it wasn't really a problem.

Without exageration this took me just short of 2 hrs and a gazillion bazillion fricken owlbeasts before completing. The drop rate sucked, but the&nbsp blood bottles drop from any of the variety of owlbeasts. The best coordinates I found were 65.19 through 67.22...keep moving through the area and you will find tons of them just roaming around. There is a cave called Hidden Grove... going through the cave was safe, but a waste of time. There were only 4 on the other side of the very short cave and they didn't drop anything worth while. So, if you really want to complete this quest make sure you do it when you're in a good frame of mind...I kid you not when I say it isn't a difficult task, just extremely lengthy. WOW needs to look at some of the unproductive quests like this one...the only challenge here was having patience.

Heres my advice, just kill all the owlbeasts you see. The beserks have a higher droprate, but not much higher. Why spend all your time looking for berserks, when you could just kill them all and get finished faster? I tried the 65,21 coords, they are the best I've found. : )

Grinded for almost 2 hours at owl thicket, you can get the raging blood from any of the owl beasts. I had to have killed at least 150 of them. And it took 2 hours, then on the last one, i had to kill 37 of them to get the last one. so again just plan on putting in the time grinding. there is no ez way to do it except go where there is a good spawn like owl thicket, if ur alone, and grind.&nbsp Hopes this helps, and the coords are 64,59 for owl thicket.

Tip: Do this quest in the hours farmers aren't around, if you can.&nbsp I had to share the owlbeasts with three hunters, it wasn't fun but instant afflict pulls FTW.

The owls I found were in the NorthEast near The Hidden Grove, but a lot of farmers go there for IronFeather, or something.

Probably goldseller bots as they never respond.&nbsp Report to GM FTW (if they actually answer them ever).

Quest should take maybe one hour to 2 hours, depends which spec you are.&nbsp I am destructo and it took me about an hour ten minutes.

obviously you have not done much farming if this is one of the worst drop rates you have encountered.

What the hell is wrong with you people, quit whining about the drop rate, if you have any skill whatsoever, it should not take much more than an hour, and you get good rested xp, as well as make a fair bit of gold, oh yeah, and a mount that is a heck of a lot cheaper than anyone elses. So shut up already.

65,60, go there, there are a ton of owl beasts and you can farms them in no time, they drop off of all kinds, not any particular one, so you do not have to be picky about your targets at all.

3 wicked claw
2 roasted quail
6 elegant writing tool
5 delicate feather
1 twill cover
1 smooth leather gloves

The drop rate is indeed pretty bad, maybe 20-30% at best. There is also a high concentration of them at Owl Wing Thicket, south of Everlook almost to Frostwhisper Gorge. Only problem there is that there is an Alliance escort quest that runs through the area, thus others might be trying to kill the mobs as well.

Also, try to complete https://classicdb.ch/?quest=969 beforehand, so that you can collect https://classicdb.ch/?item=12433 and turn it into https://classicdb.ch/?item=12458. You don't actually have to kill the elite giants for the quest. There are shards on the ground that you can pick up, once you fear the giant guarding them, then run like hell. Only resulted in a few beatings. :P

well they drop the thing about one at 3 kills, at that I mean if u kill 2 crazed ones and 1 moontouched u won't get any, 3 crazed = 1, three moon = 1, 3 raging = 1, 3 bersker = 1 and so on...

Went to NE corner of Winterspring as others before said. Took me between 1 and 1 1/2 hours to kill the 73 owlbeast needed to get the 30 drops. There were several others farming the area and none wanted to talk to me about working together so it took a little longer and some extra heavy runecloth bandages to complete, but very easy at 60. Never close to death even when aggroing more than 1 at a time...never used healthstone.
Other drops...
84 Ironfeathers
27 Giant Eggs
6 Mysterious unhatched eggs
3 Wicked Claws
7 Elegant Writing Tool
3 Delicate Feather
2 Roasted Quail
2 Morning Glory Dew
1 Scroll Intellect IV
1 Scroll Spirit IV
and about 5g in coin

As others have said, this would have been nice to do at 58/59th lvl.

This is the ultimate farming quest.
First of all, there are several "flavors" of owlbeasts in Winterspring: Crazed, Moontouched, Raging, etc. All of them drop the quest item with more or less the same rate. Which is around 25%. You need 30 bottles. Do the math.

It's a pity you can't do this quest until you're 60. If you could, you'd get some impressive xp just from farming 100+ of poor owlbeasts.
