Doomsday Candle

Bring 35 Black Dragonscales to Gorzeeki Wildeyes in the Burning Steppes.

Description

A Doomsday Candle stores fire and directs it at those who would disrupt your ritual. When creating your Circle of Greater Summoning, if your candle is lit then any wayward demons will be burned by its flames!

Containing that fire is not easy, and requires the essence within the scales of a black dragon. Acquire those scales from a skinner and bring them to Gorzeeki Wildeyes.

Be sure to bring 3 Arcanite Bars with you or you will be flying back to UC to pick up 3 on the AH and flying back.

The Dragonspawn camp right before the road that leads to the npc that gives you this quest, is by far the best place i found to skin.If you have cords, its 20,44. Yes, it may have taken me about 5hrs to get 35 of the skins i needed, but i put the rest of the skins i got from them in the ah and made good coin. and a chest pops every so often too. goodluck.

If you happen to be a skinner, check out the following coordinates:

35,72 Draco'dar

Being a level 60 warlock, you should not have a problem soloing these. Then again, it depends on your skill/spec/gear.. whatever.

However, HOPEFULLY you shouldn't have a problem soloing the Flamescale Dragonspawn and Flamescale Wyrmkin. The drop rate is somewhat rare, however its consistent enough to make it worth your time.

If you aren't a skinner, get ready for some Auction House/Trade Channel camping. Or, you could get a friend to help you. Say they are 5-8g each on AH (according to my server), offer a skinner 1-3g for each one you find and you shouldn't have any problem finding someone to help. If you are desperate, tell them they can keep any other leather they find.

You must complete this part of the quest in order to finish it. There is some stuff at the End you DO NOT HAVE TO BUY as long as you have another friendly warlock with the items. The ITEMS you DO NOT have to buy at the VERY END are the Jar, the Glyphs, and the Lodestone.

i farmed the scales off of the Flamescale wyrmkin&nbsp and Flamescale dragonspawn&nbsp at 30.61&nbsp and the surrounding area

I just did this quest on 23 May, 2007 and I only had to give 3 Black Dragonscales, not 35...was it a change in the patch? Or did I have a weird glitch?

Confirm the previous post. As of The Black Temple Patch 2.10 the number is now 3!

p.s. I laughed at my friend cause a day before the patch he finished all 35 and a day after the patch I only had to AH 3! He wasted like 80G over 2 days difference.

Black rock spires instances is the best play to get the black dragon scales from what Ive seen the drop rating is slightly higher then running around and looking in Burning Steps

It does take a long time to do this quest, you can just buy them if you want, but considering for the other quests in the epic mount quest you need a lot of money and other things, its better to just farm them and save yourself some money. For one of the potions, you have to pay 150g and thats just one part of the huge chain of quests. ALSO for those of you who dont know, you get the scales from SKINNING the dragons, not killing them. If your not a skinner, your guna have ta ask a buddy ta farm em for ya. Lucky us skinneres huh )

ok for anyone who is like me and got horribly confused during this q-

everyone has to get the bell, the wheel, and the candle(if you buy all the mats it costs around 400g on rexxar).&nbsp however, after this you DO NOT have to spend the extra 250g on the jar, the lodestone, and the glyphs if you find a lock who already has them.&nbsp

The average amount of g spent on this q is 566g(if you have a friend)-150 on stardust, 6 on the potion to get the stardust, and 400 on the mats for the bell,candle, and wheel,and about 10 on the arcanite rod

or 806g if you buy everything yourself.

if you are on rexxar you can pst me, i will keep the lodestone,jar, and glyphs

Best bet is just to buy them at the auction house. I'm not exagerating when i say that i must have killed about 100 flamescale wyverns and not one single drop from them even though thottbot claims they are a 23% drop from them in the exact spot on the map that i was.

Too much of a pain in the ass to walk around killin stuff for these. Just buy em..

Black Dragonscale are very useful to dragonscale leatherworkers more than any other type, because the dragonscale set with the most pieces in it is the Black Dragonscale set.

You can skin these off various elite dragon type creatures, but the drop rate is terrible (usually < 5%). I picked up about 5 doing a run in UBRS, but that requires sharing with other skinners.

In the end, I just payed around 1g per skin to spare the trouble.
