Honoring a Hero

Travel to Uther's Tomb in Western Plaguelands and use Uther's Tribute at his statue, and then return to Wagner Hammerstrike outside Ironforge before the Harvest Festival is over.
Provided Item:
Uther's Tribute

Description

During the Harvest Festival of Azeroth, we give thanks to heroes for the sacrifices - in some cases ultimate sacrifices - they have given on our behalf. The Alliance acknowledges many heroes, but none weave a more tragic tale than that of Uther Lightbringer.

Help us honor Uther by taking this offering to his tomb in the Western Plaguelands. Place it at his statue, and then return to me. I'll only be here through the end of the festival, so waste no time in giving Uther his tribute.

A fellow named Wagner Hammerstrike is the quest giver. You can find him at the Gates of Ironforge (right where everyone duels) during the Harvest Festival. I was a level 58 Hunter when I picked this up. Uther's Tomb is at Western Plaguelands (52, 83). All you have to do is use Uther's Tribute in front of Uther's statue. You will probably notice the roses and steins in front of the statue which is what you leave behind for Uther from using the Tribute. I hearthed to Ironforge after I completed the objective and turned it in. I received an item named For the Light! which is a poem for Uther. Also 200 faction with Darnassus and Gnomeregan Exiles as well as 6600 XP. The quest was marked under the category of Seasonal.

I did this quest at level 30 easily. It is easily doable at lower levels. From Southshore run north through Alterac. You may pass some Ogres, but at 30 you should be able to survive running through their area easily. Go north into the Western Plaguelands, you will not encounter any mobs on the way to the flight path. Grab the flight path and run east. You will come to a town of undead. Usually there are a lot of alliance farming here so hopefully they will keep the undead busy when you run to the tomb. If not use whatever evasion/immunity technique you have to make it to the tomb. If you die the graveyard is fortunately not far. Once you make the tribute hearth out and return to the quest giver for the book and a lot of XP.

I just got a letter in my mailbox with an item attached that allows you to summon harvest food.&nbsp I tried it and it gave me 4 peices of bread that restore 2% health for 25 sec.&nbsp It has a 12 hour cooldown though.&nbsp The letter was from the guy that gives the quest I think.&nbsp So yes, you get something besides the initial quest reward.

It's a very simple quest. After retreiving it, you head for the Western Plaguelands (Either follow the road north of Southshore through the mountains and once you're at Chillwind Camp, take the road right, or fly to Chillwind and go right.) There are a few marginally high level skeletons there, and they could easily wipe people under 30 (And they're quite damaging to a just-forty ((Yay, mounts!)), but otherwise it's simple.

51,81 are the correct coords.

Right click the bag once you're in the tomb, and you'll finish up.

Go back to the questgiver, and voila, you're done!

Okay, Some of you misread my post.
someone gave me what I needed to know AFTER you finnish the first quest, which I said I did so, your giving me answers about "Honoring a Hero".... I'm talking about the Chain after Honoring a hero.
I quote:
Quest Chain
By Foxdog
" The book holds a riddle that you must solve. It leads to the next quest giver. There are 4 quests total and a trainket at the end. "
Unquote.
The riddle says,

His name brought light to Darkest
Azeroth.

His Valor tore the walls of mis'ry
down.

The Silver hand would ne'er do
better more

than give the world the knight who'd
give himself.

now, would anyone know the answer to that?
( Oh I may have to repeat myself if you already 'forgot' <.< , I finnished " Honoring a Hero", I'm trying to finnish the chain)

Thank you ^^

the tomb is shown when you go east of chillwind point, just follow trail, you'll discover an area, press M, and it should show uther's tomb. It has a good few 54's etc. but u can run around them and hope the aggro wears off by the time you hit the tomb.

Im a pally, with a mount, at level 46.
I was in the INN, i ran outside of IF, discovered this quest, looked up on thottbot uther's tomb location, and read this, and then flew to chillwind point, rode mount to tomb, honored uther's statue, then rode back to chillwind, flew back to if, turned in quest, and that took me 15 minutes. I got +200 all alliance rep and 6600 EXP. IMO, killing 2 mobs a min at 200 exp a mob, you only getting 6000 exp, 0 rep, 0 cool books. It's worth the time..

Took longer to fly from IF to Chill wind than to complete the quest.&nbsp Once you get to Chill Wind, just turn right, follow it, you will discover Sorrow Hill, skirt the mountain and there it is.&nbsp I didn't see any skeletal flayers. maybe I just got lucky.&nbsp

"For the Light!" is another trophy trinket. It may not be of any great value, but this should be no surprise.. Is there any seasonal/festival quest item that is really useful?

It seems the food and drink items from the festivals are of more value then the quest rewards, but I believe this is how it should be. It would be very easy to unbalance the game by making the seasonal quest rewards too valuable.

after finishing the quest, you will resive one or two days later a Item called (in german, hadn´t find it here yet) "Erntegabe" in your mail.

With this Item, you can create the same food wich you found outside of Ironforge on the table. It has a 12h cooldown. The food disappers after a 15min logout.

The book itself seems useless, but don´t know, if you have to keep it for the reward

Sems to me this is a quest ment for the RPG servers where it givs a depth to the world and a rekognition that somting is hapening in the world (other than duling) and that the past afects the present. Maby the items are chitty but it dosent realy mater when you are honoring a great general and warrior.

I did this today at lvl 33 and it wasn't hard, except for getting ganked by 2 Horde that were 4-5 levels above me (I'm on a PvP server). Take the Griffon to Hillsbrand at Southshore. Follow the river through Alterac into Western Plaguelands. (Watch for Horde from Taren Mill). When you get to the Western Plaguelands, cut left through the mountains until you get to Uther's tomb. Complete the action and Hearth out and go back to Ironforge. Never saw a single mob that was a threat to me.

15 minutes to complete a Red quest.

I just did this just now with my Lvl45 Hunter (pet dismissed for the occasion). Well...almost did it. Server has just fallen over, but the fact remains that it's really simple to get to it without running into any undead at all.
What I did:

1. Take the path near Aerie Peak in the Hinterlands into the Western Plaguelands.
2. Travel West until you reach the river that runs into Darrowmere Lake.
3. Cross the river into Sorrow Hill and then if you look at the map, it's easy to see Uther's Tomb.

I honestly encountered NO resistance getting there and as soon as the server gets back up I will claim my rewards. :)

Good for any level if you do it that way.

At this time this particular quest will be attainable but uncompletable by both Blood Elf and Draenei. The quest has not yet been updated by Blizzard to include the new races. According to a GM this is a known issue and will hopefully be resolved soon.
