The Hunter's Charm

Speak to Ogtinc in Azshara.

Description

Ogtinc of Azshara has sent out a call for seasoned hunters such as yourself. He is a furbolg hunter who has left his tribe to aid the Cenarion Circle. His teachings are meant to enrich the wisdom of others who share his craft, and guide them toward maintaining a balance. You would do well to speak with him.

Ogtinc resides atop the cliffs of Azshara, northeast from the Ruins of Eldarath.

Ogtinc is located due south of Ursolan on a peak overlooking the shore at 42.43.

first part:
Courser Antlers -
2 perfect courserantlers
found off Mosshoof coursers (Elk) East and a little south of Lake Mennar was a bunch. They're all over the place tho. Seemed to be about 15% drop rate.

second part:
Wavethrashing -
6 wavethrasher scales
These guys are 2 headed dragons spread kinda thin throughout the far northwest corner. I'd say 15% drop rate on these guys too.

third part:
The green drake -
kill Morphaz in Sunken Temple. He's one of the 2 dragons that fly around just before Eranikus. Once you're in the instance, go left up the stairs and find your way to the other side of the arena. You'll be up against sets of 2 51 elite dragonkin 2 50 elite dragonkin and 6 50 non-elites all at once, bring a mage for the aoe. Druids have a 50% chance of hybernating them. You've gotta be a hunter so use that Wyvern on the 51's and icetrap another, it's awesome. My cat and his 4800 armor (with druid buff) tanks one of them while wyvern gives another nice dreams, then by the time they come out of it my cat is offtanking him.
Good luck

I found him at 42,43. To get to him, you need to stay on the higher mountains around the ruins. Don't go into the ruins because he's on the outer edge, in an elevated spot.

Ok so the Ognict guy is found at the co-ordinates 42,42 on top of a cliff thing.
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/_tangerine_/wheretheguyis.jpg

To get the antlers you need to kill those courser deer things which i found along here...
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/_tangerine_/1stpartwhere.jpg

The drop rate wasn't too bad for me, it only took me about 15-20mins to get 2 of 'em.

Once you've returned to Ognict, he tells you to collect 6 Wavethrasher scales. The wavethrashers look like this..
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/_tangerine_/wavethrasher.jpg

And i found them in the water and along the coast here...
http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b1/_tangerine_/lastpartwheretofind.jpg

You mostly get a scale per Wavethrasher, the only problem for me was the lack of Wavethrashers. Also, watch out for the 54 elite giants called Son of something-or-other that are wandering around in the water.

Hope this helps ^^

If you've killed that many and haven't gotten a drop, I'd just double check and make sure you're killing the right deer.&nbsp Only the Coursers will drop the antlers (exact smae name as in the quest details).&nbsp All the other deer in the area are worthles for getting the antlers you need.&nbsp I didn't kill more than 4-5 to get mine.

If you sit on the beach and wait for them to spawn, you're gonna be there a long time.&nbsp Get wet and go swimming after them off shore.&nbsp The drop rate still sucks, I'm hiting about 10%.&nbsp

Swimming from the Tower of Eldara toward the Temple you can keep running across them, and it's shallow enough you can shoot them from the surface with out worrying about running out of breath.

I found this quest very irritating, if I did not have so much fun being a hunter, (which is my personal fav. class, and I have played them all) then I would have abandoned it after my 50th kill. The Wavethrashers I found to be a bit less irritating however the drop rate was not as bad as the previous quest it still sucked. Further, and what I found to be the most irritating is the fact that you need toa group to finish it. I dont know about anyone else but Im tired of all the chain quests that end with a dungeon or instance.

As others have said, Ogtinc is standing on a point of land overlooking the ruined city. Just before the road into the city forks, go left towards the mountains ringing the zone. The city itself is ringed on the north by impassable cliff walls, so you don't want to go down into the city.

Easiest way (short of using a mod that shows map coords) to find him is to pull up your overhead map and look for a trench that you find as you're going northeast. It's isolated from the rest of the cliff face, so it rates an appearance on your map. His camp is at the southern tip of that long ditch, and he is standing on a hill just south of the camp, overlooking the city to his south.

The mossback coursers are elk-like non-aggro creatures, and you can find them by riding further east. Took me about 15 minutes of hunting to get two perfect antlers.

Octim ... the npc you have to find, since he has to give you the quest which this is all about - is not standing atop a cliff-formation, but on a large hill.
Neither is he overlooking the ruined city instead he's overlooking a small corner of it, with view over about one ruin.

To get to him isn't an easy thing to describe. But you certainly don't find him by turning off the road before the point where it forks.

However, he is on the far left at the ruined city of Eldorath.
I myself found him by going almost to the beach, and up through a slope which is hidden between two sides of the many bare steep sliff-walls.

Here is what probably will help a lot of people more than anything -

The coordinates: 42.42

This is the exact point on the map, where the furbolg Octim is standing ... actually with his back to the city, which is hidden from view by the hill-top itself.

There has been a lot of writing about how easy it was to solo the quest, and what lvls you were when you did it.
But worse is it that the only attempt at describing where to find the NP?C is misleading, and I can attest to the fact that a lot of people has got more trouble than necessary from this fact while they did the quest.

I'm not out to put anyone down. But I would like to advice a little more care when you write guides, folks! The writings on this page (apart from the braggings) shows perfectly what mess can come of misleading guides.

At last I will say about my own guide, that the description is to the best of my ability correct. I will not even claim that there's no doubt that it describes everything perfectly and in detail. I know it doesn't.
But I do hope it is somewhat closer to the actual facts than what I had to go by.

Good luck to you all.

Chayzr.

I found the cords to be right, and also found the directions of following the mounbtain ridge after finding the ruins was also correct, you'll see him on a hill, over looking one building by itself that is in ruins. Though the quest did mislead me a little, after I re-read them after reading here, I realized they werent to far off either, just misleading....:)

i found him a t 42,42 aswell on the cliff top, heading north/north east from the fork in the path, (stay of the beach)... the antlers dropped quick for me.... the scales where hard to come by if i swam up and down the coast.Head N/E along the cliff tops from Ogtinic and as the land goes to a point (NE) and the land slopes down to the beach a lot of mobs are there (app' 5 mins respawn). By the time you've ran around killing them... the one you killed 1st has respawned.... voila :)

I'm not sure about the rewards either... I kind of like my shrink ray and Insignia Trinket.

Not done the last bit yet though :(

Follow the road north to the Ruins of Eldarath where it branches into a loop. then go north offroad along the cliffs through the white hippogyrphs bearing to the right when you are past the ruins. Stay on the right hand cliffs and you should see his marker on your map around 40 , 41. He is at 42,42 and you cannot get to him from below.

Ogtinc resides on the cliffs above The Ruins of Eldarath in the Northeast point. On the most northeastern mountain top or cliff's edge however you choose to view it. It is a small area. I must have ran passed it about three times before I noticed Ogtinc was there.

Also, I found it easier to get Perfect Courser Antler drop. If you help your Pet melee the Courser vs using a Projectile: Gun, Bow, etc.

he's at 42,42 if you mod coords work. Okay I will try to tell you where he is... when you look at the map you will see the roads out of the ruins in the north the road on the left side has a jut out above it, and pair of jut outs to the right of it. He is on the second jut out on the right... but remember HE IS ABOVE THE RUINS. if you are in thr ruins below you can't get up to him.

Good luck, I got the quest, but haven't finished it, I agro everything in sight up there, died a couple times, will do it later.... good hint getting the coursers to the se cause they are few ne, or just every hunter and priest was there yesterday maybe ... hunt safe ...

and all the other quest self explanitory but drop rate sux
