Breaking the Code

Frankal Stonebridge at Bronzebeard's Encampment in Silithus wants you to recover a Hive'Zora Silithid Brain, Hive'Ashi Silithid Brain, and a Hive'Regal Silithid Brain. Return to Frankal when you have completed this task.
Hive'Ashi Silithid Brain
Hive'Zora Silithid Brain
Hive'Regal Silithid Brain

Description

I think I can formulate an elixir that will allow us to more readily decipher the glyphs and language of the silithid and Qiraji! What do I need? Glad you asked! I need brains! More specifically, a brain from each silithid type that inhabit the hives. Bring me brains and Rutgar's work might not be for naught.

Here is a complete walkthrough I just created for my guild detailing the entire quest chain with pictures. Enjoy...

The quest line starts at Cenarion Hold in Silithus:

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling_map1.jpg

Talk to Commander Mar'alith and he will give you a quest called Dearest Natalia.

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling1.jpg

Then head south to the Bronzebeard Encampment:

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling_map2.jpg

Speak with the 2 dwarves there- Frankal Stonebridge and Rutgar Glyphshaper (also make sure you pet the monkey):

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling2.jpg

They will tell you a big story about how this lady went crazy, which completes the Dearest Natalia quest and unlocks 2 other mini-quests which you must also complete.

The names of these quests are Breaking the Code which will be given to you by Frankal and Glyph Chasing which will be given to you by Rutgar. *Note: Rutgar also hands you a Geologist's Transcription Kit which is needed to complete his quest, so if you accidentally delete it just abandon the quest and talk to him again to get a new one.

Now before you start these quests, return to Commander Mar'alith in Cenarion Hold and turn in the Dearest Natalia quest. He will give you a new quest called Into the Maw of Madness, which you will complete while doing the other 2.

Basically these quests are going to take you into the 3 hives of Silithus (Hive'Ashi, Hive'Zora and Hive'Regal):

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling_map3.jpg

It doesnt matter which ones you do first, however I recommend a party of 5 to move through it quickly (although you can still do it fairly easy with 2-3 skilled people).

SUMMARY OF "GLYPH CHASING": In the middle of each hive that is a cave that you need to enter and explore until you find the final room. In this room there will be a small white crystal that you use the Geologist's Transcription Kit on to obtain the rubbing. This quest is completed once you obtain a rubbing from each Hive.

SUMMARY OF "BREAKING THE CODE":&nbsp Make sure you check the bodies of each bug you kill on the way to (and from) the final room of each hive. You are looking for a white quest item named xxx Silithid Brain (xxx being the name of the hive). It is a random drop so if you havent gotten it by the time you finished coming out of the cave then make sure you continue killing bugs until it drops. This quest is completed once you obtain a Silithid Brain from each Hive.

SUMMARY OF "INTO THE MAW OF MADNESS": Inside the final room Hive'Regal you will find a Night Elf priest named Natalia Mar'alithnamed. This quest is completed once you kill her and loot the item from her body.&nbsp (Dont forget to obtain the rubbing from the crystal in that room).

Once you complete all 3 quests return to Commander Mar'alith in Cenarion Hold and turn in Into the Maw of Madness. Then return to the dwarves in Bronzebeard Encampment and turn in Breaking the Code to Frankal and Glyph Chasing to Rutgar.

At this point Rutgar will give you another quest named Unraveling the Mystery. This quest is simple, just take the Glyphed Crystal Prism that he gives you to Geologist Larksbane in Cenarion Hold:

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling3.jpg

She will then give you the final quest named The Calling!

At this point you will need a group of 25-40 people to kill the Emissary Romankhan. If your guild is already raiding AQ-40 then it's prolly easiest to just wait until the next raid night and kill him prior to heading inside. Otherwise have fun spamming the LFG channel.

He is summoned at the Bones of Grakkarond:

http://www.unifiedguild.com/downloads/pics/thecalling_map4.jpg

Once he is dead check his body for loot and then return to Geologist Larksbane in Cenarion Hold. Once you turn in The Calling she will give you another quest that you instantly turn in to claim your reward and receive your +25 NR legs!

Regarding the Silithid Hive Brains that drop for this quest They will not drop straight away most of the time. It will take 5-15 kills approximately, such is the nature of the dreaded random drop. So its better to do this in a sturdy group of 2 or 3, Idealy while doing Glyph Chasing and Into The Maw of Madness. The Brains being a white (Standard Quality) Quest Item everyone in your group will get to loot it.

The Silithid Mobs are tough, but like mentioned above they are not quite as strong as normal 58-60 elites thus apparantly making them soloable for some people although I have not tried this myself as a 60 Orc Warrior.

Thnx for reading my comment and i hope it helped.

Get a "brain" from each of the three hives by killing any of the elite mobs at each one. Drop rate is very high; I didn't have to kill more than 10 mobs at each place before the brain dropped.

Recommend having one other person with you, but the mobs are soloable, though difficult.

Recommend doing Glyph Chasing and Into the Maw of Madness in conjunction with this quest.

Once this quest and Glyph Chasing are completed, leads to Unraveling the Mystery.

Any of the elite mobs in the three hives will drop brains.&nbsp The non elite wasps in Hive'zora will drop these too, but at a rate about 1/2 to 1/3 of the elites.&nbsp Easily soloable by a rogue, just ambush, gouge, backstab, pop evasion, and then gouge, backstab, and evicerate your way to victory.&nbsp The easiest mobs to go after are the Hive'ashi Stingers, Hive'zora Waywatchers, and the Hive'Regal Slavemakers or Spitfires.&nbsp They have a few long spells they try to cast so be sure to kick or gouge them before they can get them off.&nbsp Use dual instant poison and be prepared to blind them.

These creatures must be quite stupid, cause they don't have any brains. See! The quest's idea is to kill the only one monster who has brains so that they&nbsp
can't make any resistance.

im gonna look for sililar things with the other 2 but think ashi is the only one that spawns non-elites

The drop rate is bad. Kiting to the city doesnt help because the guards just watch you die. They must have fixed that in a patch. :(
I miss MMO's where you could have fun and be productive just soloing.

Soloed this as a 60 rogue usually with a Blind and Bandage each fight. I stuck to the 58 elites as the 59's and 60's required preparation and I aint waiting 10 mins per fight. You can stealth all the way in to the caves to find thr 58's. Dont touch the non elites as the are linked.

Solo'd as a Shadow Priest.&nbsp Brain dropped off a Hive'Ashi bug right on the road at Cenarian Hold.&nbsp The Zora brain took about 5 kills, those were a little tougher, just keep Vampiric Embrace on, drop out of shadow and heal if you need, but there's really nothing dangerous there.

Hive'Regal was a snap.. go after the Spitfire bugs, all they do is reduce your armor.. you'll take maybe 200 damage the whole fight if you keep your shield up and Vampiric Embrace. Easiest elites ever.

...for a L60 Rogue.

I concentrated on the L58/59 Elites around the perimiter of each hive. I had to buff up my rogue with "Well Fed" and Scrolls, plus be prepared to use a healing potion if things got really bad.

I'd go after the solitary bugs, stealthing from behind and hitting with Cheap Shot, then Back Stab, then using Evasion once they turned around. Even with Scroll enhanced Agility, Stamina, Strength, and Armor, and both daggers loaded up with poison, these were tough fights for me against L59 Elites, but normally I could defeat them with 10% hit points left...sometimes a bit less. I tried a couple of L60 Elites but had to back off as they were too strong.

I eventually got all three brains without having to venture into any of the Hive basins...only by attacking solitary bugs around the perimeter. Took two trips to Silithus, probably about 2 hours total. I received 7g 96s for completing the quest!

After I fairly easily solo'd Deathclasp with my 60 mage I started wondering what these elite bugs I had been running away from were like. There were nothing like I expected, and solo'd every one I tried without any deaths. Even did a 61 elite, which was a close fight, but still took it down.
