Rescue OOX-09/HL!

Escort OOX-09/HL to the shoreline beyond Overlook Cliff, then report to Oglethorpe Obnoticus in Booty Bay.
  •
Escort OOX-09/HL to the shoreline beyond Overlook Cliff

Description

The gnome's voice crackles once again from the robot:

"I need to move OOX-09/HL to an open, safe place so it can begin a lengthy take-off procedure. It has built-in cloaking, but I need time on my end to make it operational again. Escort the robot from its current location to, let's say, the shoreline beyond Overlook Cliff! That should be a perfect place, and long enough, to get things online!"

"Escort it safely to the shore, and then come talk to me in Booty Bay! Oglethorpe Obnoticus - out!"

Followup of this quest is An OOX of Your Own, but available only after completing all 3 separate quests of finding distress beacons in corresponding zones:
  1. Find OOX-17/TN! (Tanaris)
  2. Find OOX-09/HL! (The Hinterlands, this quest chain)
  3. Find OOX-22/FE! (Feralas)

Just soloed this quest as a lvl 45 mage. It took me 3 tries. First two i got another add while fighting the amubushers and the chicken got killed be4 i could finish 2 of them.

On the third try i figured out a easier method:
Just jump on your mount and whenever the chicken stops and says smth about danger, go ahead of her and get the aggro from the 3 ambushers.
Then take them away from chicken and start doing circles. When u see the chicken get past the point where the mobs spawned, just run and break aggro.

Repeat for second ambush.

Relatively easy quest, especially for an escort quest. There are two groups of mobs that are spawned. The first is three Wildkin and the second is three trolls.

The most difficult part about this quest is that there are quite a few horde in the area where the quest ends so it's very easy to get ganked right before you are finished.

Soloed as a lvl 50 UD Mage. The robot is on the biggest island on the lake. In the first wave I heard the robot saying "danger!" or something and I started to move forward. Then I saw 3 owlbeasts and tried to trick them off the road. It worked, I fled and they stopped chasing me. Then I went back and found the robot walking on the road. Same thing on the second wave. It was kinda easy but I dont think that it should be able to do like that. :P

46 Warrior here.&nbsp Soloed it with some difficulties, though, I did make it through without dying. First group of three owls hit me, i killed one, feared the other two, bandaged, killed the other two (cutting it quite close as well).&nbsp Dazing the mobs then running to bandage helps a little bit, even if the chicken draws the aggro.&nbsp The last three trolls I fought were no problem.&nbsp Just pop retaliation and the rest is history. Don't forget about your pots, or maybe some food =P

This quest is pretty easy, just follow the chicken and defend it. The only problem is the horde that think it's funny to wait until you are right at the end of the quest to kill you =\, which happened to me 3 times.

It's awkward this - there seem to be 2 main encounters en route with the boird.&nbsp You can tell this because the chicken seems to pause, come out with a "threat detected" comment and then the mobs appear.

I found it helped to try to clear the route first (on my second, third, etc attempts).&nbsp The stealthed wolves just make it really difficult right at the end, and look out for that massive turtle as well...

There are two ways you may be able to progress this quest - 1) go back to where you found the bird in the first place, on his little island.&nbsp He may be back there and ready to roll again.&nbsp If that's not the case, abandon the quest in your quest log, then the big ! will return and you can re-start the escort quest.

Good luck, I struggled to solo it at lvl 53 as hunter with pet and engineering toys...

Did the quest, it said I completed it and everything, chicken vanished, so I thought I was done.&nbsp I went to Booty Bay like the quest says to talk to Oglethorpe and he has no question mark above his head or anything...&nbsp Anyone have this provlem too?

This Quest is very easy for priests.

The Robot is going to run along the road and then down to the shoreline
at 78.68, just follow him as a usual escort quest and take out any random mobs
who attacks him, then when the first encounter comes and he says
"anomaly detected.." just run ahead of him and you will see 3 Wildkin
walking towards you along the road. Just Psychic Scream them before they aggro
the robot and keep running, they will give up chase after awhile.
Rinse and repeat with the 3 trolls at the second encounter.

I guess this can be done by all classes in different ways as long as the robot don't get aggro, he is lvl42 and quite weak.

Everything went fine at first. Killed couple of oozes on the way, evaded 3 owlbeast, but then while fighting a wolf, 3 trolls appeared and stupid chicken decided to fight them as well. Almost died, ran away. Healed myself, went out looking for chicken - not anywhere :o\ Checked quest log - didn't fail. Where the heck could it go?

Finish it with a warrior and a druid w/o any pain. All of us got quest credit once the chicken reach it's ending point.

I tried to solo it from lvl 48 - 50 pally. Died too many times coz 2 encounter is not easy at all, and there are many ooze and wolf adds. Clear it before starting the quest doesn't work for me coz they respawned.

Even you can handle mobs, there are usually horde on your route so be very careful. Ganked by lvl 60 horde few times.

Ehh.. this was really no problem for me finish it off with a 47 shaman, the owlbeast attack went fine, and i was lucky since i didnt meet any of the stalkers.. but when the trolls came, i died:D but the chicken went on, and when i respawned, he was attacking a wolf, so i killed the wolf and finished the quest, not really a big problem

I had the same problem as several of the above posts.... I died doing the quest and was told the quest failed. The chicken wasn't on the rock after rezing.&nbsp I waited around and after about 10 minutes, the chicken respawned on the rock.&nbsp So give it some time to respawn after failing the quest.

I'm a 46 warrior and I easily soloed this without dieing once. All I did was use demorilizing shout and then just hacked away. On the group of lvl 48's that attack just use retalliation. Very easy quest.

This was the easiest damned escort EVER!

I had seen the homing robot a few times so knew where to await its re-pop. Waited and grabbed him the second it spawned from the previous questor.

There was one ooze that followed immediately, but the robot ignored and kept running so i didn't attack it either.

A savage owlbeast saw us on the road just north of jinthal'alor but same story, it followed for a while but neither robot nor i attacked so it buggered off after a short chase.

The robot only twice said "CLUCK! Sensors detect spatial anomaly -- danger iminent! CLUCK!" but both times no mobs spawned to give me a hard time.

I can only assume that I had such an easy time of it because someone had only just run the route and had cleared the way, and the two mobs that should have popped on our way through were not ready to. I did the whole trip stealthed, but suspect this would have had no bearing on the situation.

My suggestion: Wait for someone else to do it. Once the bot re-pops, take the quest on straight away and you should be home free...

Solo'd as a 51 warrior with no pots with me.
Got to admit I was down to 10% at one time as that damn chicken pulled a lot of mobs this run. But completely doable for a 51 warrior - but a pot would had been nice :)

Does the chicken have taunt or something? I was killing the owlbeasties when the chicken kept running, met a wolf, it took me a while to kill the beasties and i was rather oom afterwards, then i go to chicken, wolf is still like 90% hp, i deathcoil it, then shadowbolt (totally oom now) for about 50% of wolf HPs, it STILL keeps attacking the chicken, i wand the wolf almost to death before it kills the chicken..

Epic tank aggro plz i want to level that chicked to 70 and use as raidtank..

there are 2 add sets of 3. watch out for aggro. i had to do it 4 times as a 49 shaman because if the robot gets attacked too much you fail. once you fail you can go back to where you find the robot to restart. this would be better to do either at a higher level or with a group.

I know it was probably a little easier since I was 52, but all I did, when the group of mobs appeared, was to have the void agro them (target and attack each mob), cover them in dots and pick away at them. After the mob was over, ran ahead to sit for a drink and a bite to eat, healed void and I was good. At one point, had the 3 trolls and two stealthed wolfs on me. Still, no problem.

The other two Homing Robot quests are for Both Horde and Alliance, so I'm not sure why this one be only for Alliance.

I'm trying to find the beacon, so I'll find out soon enough.
