Chimaerok Tenderloin (20)

Description

Legend has it that the chimaerok of the Isle of Dread in Feralas have the most succulent and tender vittles in existence! Now these chimaerok also have a daddy who, with proper preparation, may or may not look like a 500 pound chicken.

Head to the Isle of Dread and kill Lord Lakmaeran and bring me his fresh carcass. That should satisfy the gnome. To satisfy me, you'll need to get your hands on some chimaerok tenderloin.

Do this and you'll have your 500 pound chicken and a little something extra.

To get to these suckers on the Isle of Dread, go to 35, 88 on your map (ie, the Southeastern corner of the Island) and there's a valley there.&nbsp There's no other way into the center of the island, I've checked.&nbsp Don't be fooled by the cave, it's just full of 45-ish Naga (which shouldn't be a problem... if you've got this quest you're most likely not going to be killed by a level 45 Hatescale Myrmidion).

The entrance to the middle is under the word dread on the map but be warned, what lies inside are lvl 60&61 elite dragons. There is also an entrance to the southeast.

As frost mage with 9.9k hp you can kill every Chimaerok mob except the boss (320k hp). You will be unable to kill the Chimaerok Devour mob *unless* you steal the 2 minutes buff from Lord Lakmaeran. That buff is 18 stacks of 25% chance 496 dmg on hit, which means any mob hitting you will suffer a medium of 1500dmg.

I was unaware of this quest but me and some guildies went out to start farming these tenderloins. Found they had about a 25% droprate and are easily farmed with 2 or more people. The named has a nasty spell though. Non-removable DOT that stacks, you pretty much want to have your melee run in toss a few shots then back off to heal, because it's gonna take all your healers focus to keep an MT alive. We took him down no troubles with 12 guys using this method. Now just to get teh quest and do it again, hehe.

These chimaeroks can be killed fairly easy with just a druid tanking and a paladin healing easily, as long as the paladin keeps his mana up with seal/judgement of wisdom. Just stay away from the Arcane Chimaeroks, unless you have a priest or more than 2 people - 15 sec counterspell equals DEATH!

What is the purpose and reward of this quest?

You can farm these easily with 1 warrior and 1 priest(level 60), you dont need or want 12 people there sharing the loot. The Arcane Chim reflects some of your DOT spells back at you, so you can avoid the stackable DOT's completely by not casting a DOT at them. The priest just wands and heals and the warrior whacks away at it. They have more health than the level 60 elite demons at winterspring but there is actually less intensive healing required on the tank meaning a paladin could probably have coped with the healing. The non arcane ones have no particular special secondary attack that causes problems, although I should stress that I have kept the priest at maximum range to avoid AOE or cleave type attacks.
They are good fun as you dont often get to kill stuff at level 62 elite with 29000 health with just 2 characters.
