Unsigned Field Duty Papers

Description

Greetings, <name>. Before I assign you to more involved tasks in the war, you'll need to do your share of field duty.

You will find Captain Skullsplit's Orgrimmar Legion outside Hive'Regal.

Report to him and come back to me with proof of your field service. I shall have a more advanced assignment ready for you.

Oh, please do your best to stay away from the Ironforge Brigade. Tensions are high among our Alliance and Horde volunteers.

Combat
Typically requires you to kill 30 elite Silithids, you might want to bring a friend or two for these.

Tactics
Some requires you to kill an Abyssal Templar others requires you to seek out Scouts at various locations.
Might require a small party.

Logistics
Involves the collection of various items, probably the easiest to complete solo.

Couple of Hints:
1. Get as many combat quests and and the scout report for a hive before going in.&nbsp Take a group to speed it up.
2. Before summoning the templars make sure you have all the Tactical Quests I-IV so you get an extra 50 rep and a badge for each summons.
3. If you don't like the quest given to you, run back and do it again.&nbsp It's worth the extra time repeating the field duty paper quest to get a quest you like.

If you want more information about Cenarion Circle rep a guildie sent me here.&nbsp It's a bit depressing, so be forewarned you're signing your life away.

http://wowwiki.com/Cenarion_Circle_Reputation_Guide

SINCE THE PATCH SOME OF THIS INFORMATION IS OLD.&nbsp FOR EXAMPLE, THE UNSIGNED PAPERS MUST BE RIGHT CLICKED.&nbsp COMBAT QUESTS GIVE YOU A CLUSTER OF 4 FOR THAT HIVE.&nbsp TACTICAL V WAS ADDED (KILL THE FOUR DUKES) WITH A NEW REWARD MARK OF CENARIUS.&nbsp NOT SURE WHAT ELSE HAS BEEN ADDED.

The sequence is:
  • Get unsigned papers from questgiver.
  • Talk to Krug Skullsplit (by Hive'Royal). This spawns a big bug (Hunter-Killer)
  • Kill big bug.
  • Right-click the papers to "prepare" them.
  • Talk to Krug again. He will sign the papers.
  • Return to Cenarion Hold for random assignment that produces a badge when completed.
As of 1.11, Krug can die during the fight, then respawn after the bug dies, at which point he gets the blue question mark and will sign papers. Previously, he would not sign papers after a respawn.

You only need to do this three times (for tactical, combat, and logistics assignments). Once you get a badge, you get a random follow-up assignment of the same type for free. However, it may be to your advantage to have multiple combat assignment quests active at once, as you'll be killing different kinds of bugs anyway.

The bug is 5-man boss-level difficulty, but does not have typical boss-style immunities. All normal abilities should work on it. It uses AoE fear, cleave, and an AoE snare. It will also charge a random player character periodically. Drain its mana and do not wander into nearby mobs if you need to run away.

You need to right click the papers to prepare them. It looks like some people aren't doing this. Then let all the NPC's battle the mob. After the battle, talk to him again.

this is impossible to do on the horde side if youre not a healing class.&nbsp He dies when the bug is still > 60% health and theres nothing you can do about it.&nbsp If you talk to him after the NPC's kill the bug, all he does is start the quest over.

Soloed as a L60 Affliction Spec. Forsaken Warlock.

Nothing too special in how I did it (being L60 helps), but I did find it fun to summon an Infernal (what else are they good for?).&nbsp Had to re-bind it twice, but b/w that and the fear/draining life to top myself off, it was fun to watch.&nbsp Didn't heal that numbskull once.

Most enjoyable episode so far (second being the bombing runs in the outlands which are fun, but far less visceral).

Good luck all.

The Alliance guy (dwarf general) soloes his bug easily while the horde guy (orc) gets raped by the bug time after time. The bug even called him noob once and did "chicken"!

Impossible to solo as warrior on horde side.

This was just too funny, I had to write a comment. As a 60 druid, I was walking around Silithus doing misc quests. I found Krug, talked to him, and didn't think anything of it. I often click through things without reading. So I'm off killing mobs for another quest and I notice there's this GIANT bug guy attacking all these NPCS. So I think, snap, I bet that's that quest I was looking to do. Head over and Krug is at 4% health (bug is at like 30%). I throw a couple big heals on him, the first one only took when he was at 1% !, the bug dies, and I complete the quest. I couldn't believe it.

Anyway, a useful comment would be that this is dead easy for any healing classes. Just stand back and heal Krug. And remember to prepare the papers (right click on them) before you start.

The field duty quest can also be soloed easily by a Warlock. All you have to do is keep the bug feared. In fact, if you fear the bug far enough, the guards will stop following and the main guy, Krug I believe, will reset to full life. When the bug attacks you, deathcoil him and you should have enough life to proceed fearing without any worries. If deathcoil is on cooldown, just drain life a couple of times and proceed fearing. If you happen to run out of mana, just drain mana. Moreover, by draining the bug's mana to the fullest, you'll disable it from being able to fear you or the guards. If Krug happens to reset to full life and the bug is below 20% life, you can just run away out of the bug's attack range and watch it die without worrying about losing life:D As far as being a mage, you can frost nova the bug, but that won't help much in saving Krug because he is always right by the bug. Before I found out about being able to solo the bug by fearing, I grouped with a 60 Mage decked out in Netherwind and a 60 Warlock, but the first time we failed. After that, just chain feared the bug and it worked. Hope this helps. Good luck.

This happened to me on two occasions while soloing the quest. Early on in the battle, I got stomped on by the bug, and Krug got killed but before I released, the rest of the Horde NPCs managed to drop the bug. When I released and ran back, Krug had respawned and allowed me to turn in the papers: no additional bug battle required.

With mount enchants and fast running you can get the papers signed twice from 1 kill. You will have around 5-10 seconds to spare though so if you are using a slow comp, wasting few seconds on loading chars at Cenarion Hold might cost you this opportunity. Just remember to prepare the papers before you start the event since it has a cooldown.

So, a friend told me to get the unsigned paper and go to the boss who will kill the giant bug. I healed and he didnt die but after all that he asked for prepared duty papers and didnt sign them.

When u move the mouse on the unsigned papers says: prepare for field duty (0 charges)... so I guess that I have to prepare those papers somehow. Anyone knows something?

Did it yesterday befor 1.11 and just had to activate the quest, sit back and watch the bug die, then talk to the leader and receive my signed papers.
However, today with 1.11 live I tried do do the same, but never the less I attack, or sit back, the leader wont sign my papers anymore after the bug is dead.
And I had my papers prepared. Seems to be bugged or what?

I've found that at the Horde camp, at least, if you can position yourself such that the guy is within LoS, but the one hut is between you and the bug, the bug doesn't seem to charge you, and yet you can still heal the guy.&nbsp I've done this about two or three times now without getting charged once (and many times where it wasn't possible and I was charged repeatedly).&nbsp Of course, it's largely dependent on whether everybody wants to stand in the perfect spot for you to hide behind the hut and still heal.

For a horde healing class, this is a rather easy boss if you know the trick..

Dont go into combat before Krug is at about 50%

Heal him once, you get charged, heal yourself, then waste all of your mana on healing Krug..

Run out of combat (i ran out the opposite exit of the camp)

Drink a nice drink (Thats in character, mana regen drink P (not a potion))

Run back, and repeat the process.. very simple..

2. Krug lived through the fight.

Before 1.10 you could sit back and have some popcorn while the NPCs killed the bug. It did not matter if Krug died.

In 1.10 this was changed. Now you must bring a healer to keep Krug alive. If he dies during the fight he will not sign your papers when he respawns.

This "quest nerf" was not mentioned in the 1.10 patch notes.

I tried this little trick today..

1. Set your HS to Cenarion Hold
2. Take off with your healer and kill the Bug
3. HS to Cenarion Hold and turn in the quest
4. Take the quest again and return to krug on your mount (I had Epic mount so I dunno if it works for regular mount)
5. Have him sign them again
6. Return to CH and deliver the quest for your 2nd assignment...

this way you only need to kill the bug once for 2 quests :P

Note: you can't just run back to CH as the offer to have the papers signed will not be available then.
