Metzen the Reindeer

Find Metzen the Reindeer. Use the notes provided to you for clues as to where he is being held.

When you find Metzen, have the Pouch of Reindeer Dust in your possession so you can sprinkle some of the dust on him; this should free Metzen from his bonds of captivity.

Return the Pouch of Reindeer Dust to Wulmort Jinglepocket in Ironforge once Metzen is freed.

DISASTER has struck! Metzen the Reindeer has been kidnapped!

Metzen is one of Great-father Winter's eight reindeer - and property of Smokywood Pastures. We've received not one but TWO ransom letters from groups claiming to have Metzen. With the holiday season well under way, we're strapped to the coin box here! Please - find Metzen and return him to us!

Check out the ransom letters for clues, and sprinkle this reindeer dust on him - it will free him from any of his bonds!

First, i did it this morning (lvl 47 warlock), had help from a mage lvl 44.

Location: Kalimdor, Tanaris, entrance cove is 68,41. the cape on the east
[pad]

you will find Metzen in the middle of the village, in a stable.

There are 4 mobs infront and several around.
Mobs is about lvl 44-45.
If you are not much higher or even lvl 60, bring friends for help,cause they all attack at the same time.

We did it the way, that one aggros, ran away and other finished quest.

In Searing Gorge, the target is near 70, 34.
This is the road intersection to the SW of the tunnel entrance.

He is surrounded by multiple 45-47 mobs which will come at you in a group of about 5 or 6.

Easily soloed with a 60 Mage (of course), but with a little help you should be able to do it as low as 45.

He is both at 67,34 in Searing Gorge, and at 73,47 in Tanaris. both "guards" are around lvl 45.

the unknown reward is 5 pieces of a treat that makes your mount look like a reindeer (use the item when mounted).

the reward is limited to five though, and dispells when unmounted. however, they can probably be used when you want (even after winter is over).

you can get more of this kind by /kiss to someone below a mistel (do it on another player and they'll get a nice spirit buff) and you will recieve a gift. this random gift can also have 5 of what this quest reward is, but then it has a "most be usable within 7 days" limit. so save your quest reward! :)

Metzen is located in Searing Gorge near the tunnel to Loch Modan, he's guarded by a group of dark iron dwarves. I suggest bringing a party unless you can take them all.

Great reward if you want to show off you mount.

I'm a bit curious what all this flaming has to do with the quest. I came here to read helpful advise on the quest. I didn't come here to read a bunch of comments from players with e-peens bigger than their brains. Please stick to the subject and leave the flaming to the barrens.

Keep in mind that, while the Fresh Holly you receive from the Revelers is soulbound, this quest reward is not soulbound. Preserved Holly may be given to other players (or auctioned in the Auction House).

I found Metzen in the Searing Gorge along the crossroads/T-junction on the road from Stonewrought Pass (from Loch Modan) into the Dustfire Valley. This is in the North-East of the area.

Hopefully that's of assistance.

Found him in Searing Gorge today at 68,34.&nbsp 5 mobs spawned on top of me while I was getting mana.&nbsp Dotted and killed them all and clicked to "talk" to the reindeer.&nbsp Chose the option to sprinkle dust on him, quest complete.

Avoid aggro at the camp as the mobs are spread out, then just chat with the Reindeer and you're done

Ok - the silly reindeer is under a thatched roof thing directly opposite the gate and then the campfire as you come into the pirate area.

You may have to kill a couple pirates or dock workers but easy to find him.

2007 - This year I went to Searing Gorge (screenshot submitted) - he's not hard to find if you go west from Thorium Point (the FP place).&nbsp Avoid the golems, spiders, dark iron guys - and be aware there is a group that patrols.

metzen is also in searing gorge and hes surrounded by atleast 3 NPCs and they r lvl 46-50&nbsp &nbsp just sprinkle the dust on him and go bak to IF

You must click on the reindeer, and then on the quest area that talks about the dust.&nbsp Clicking the dust itself will not work.

Tanaris: Pirate camp along coast S of port. In the stables S of the main bonfire. As a rogue, sneak behind stables, "talk" to Metzen, complete quest, vanish. no combat required.

Yeah, I went to tanaris, and got a "you don't have permission to loot that corpse" when I tried to open the nice little baggie i got from the smokey goblin, and *pling* it was gone from my inv.! Guess who bit his tounge pretty hard, and grinded his teeth all the way back to IF... Yup... T'was me... >:( Guess that teaches me to loot EVERYTHING from a bag/chest/whatever at once!

Its pretty easy for druids or toon who can sneak in.&nbsp I stealthed as a cat into the pirated area and found metzen at 73,48.&nbsp He is definitely surrounded by mobs of pirates.&nbsp The place is usually camped but when I went there was no one but me.&nbsp First I targeted Metzen.&nbsp From stealthed cat, I immediately changed to regular form and as fast as i could, I right clicked the bag of powder and clicked Metzen, the pirates charged and I just stayed there taking a beating until I died.&nbsp Upon death i noticed I had completed the quest.&nbsp I took rez sickness and moved on lol.

I am a lvl 47 Druid

The reward is preserved holly. This, unlike the festive mistletoe fresh holly you get, does NOT have a 7 day duration on it. Wait until june and put it on the AH :D

Hmm I'm alliance and went to tanaris with my alt cause i donät have the other flightpath with that char... But I can't find Metzen on those coordinates. I ran around in all the houses and stuff in the compund and no reindear :(

I got the holly from a present under the Christmas tree in Iron Forge on Christmas day. I did two other seasonal quests (Stolen Winter veil treats and Treats for Greatfather Winter)earlier in the month and on Christmas day, there were 4 presents under the tree for me.

Okay, someone asked waaay back if you can keep the stuff that turns your mount into a reindeer. Yes you can, unless it specifies that you have to use it in x-amount of days. I have 3 holly (hollies?) i've kept from last year. I like turning my mount into a reindeer in march.

I just soloed this as a level 40 rogue. I died in the process, but here's how.

Using Distract, making sure all the guards around are affected, sneak up and talk to Metzen. The Distract should give you enough time to do all necessary clicking. Now, talking to Metzen brings you out of stealth, but if you're quick, you can start the process before you get killed.
