You also get 200 Cenarion Circle and 200 Brood of Nozdormu faction when turning in this quest (non-human of course).

You get the head from the boss in AQ20 (Ossirian the Unscarred, obviously) and is a level 60 required quest.

I have noticed a shout throughout Silithus when this is turned in, however I have not been in Cenarion Hold any time it happened.

Is there a buff given to everyone in Cenarion Hold when this is turned in, like there is with the other heads (Onyxia, Rend, Nef)?

lol - his staff is way better than SoD wich is a 40 man drop, whilst this neck is utter %^&* compared to choker

This one certainly had me thinking for some time. I am playing a shaman and if you have Choker of Enlightenment, Choker of the Fire Lord or Angelistas or equivalent it would be easy to take the one with the opposite effects. However i had nothing and was using jeweled amulet until this.
In the end i went with the Charm based on the fact that it is on par with most +damage amulets available until this point (granted a little worse than some, but not much) and my chances on bidding on something like this in front of damage dealing casters are very small.
Right here and now it would probably have been better with the Amulet, but there are plenty of good healer necks (Angelistas for instance) with good drop chances that nobody will mind me bidding on.
So that was my thoughts on the choice, however if both is an improvement it's a hard decision as a shaman since the healer neck is better for raiding (since we are stuck healing) while the other one keeps the hybrid dream alive :)

This necklace will totally pwn in TBC, imo ill take eye of hakkar for the crit chance too but this is very very nice and much better for a raiding hunter. To each his own but in no way shape or form is this a "crappy hunter item"

Ossirian is harder then raggy... Raggy is a nuke boss and the only hard (?) part is the sons, ossi is crystalfinding, moving fast, avoiding tornados, overaggro, not getting him in supreme etc, while keeping tanks alive...

note: weeks of wiping at ossi, 3 times at raggy, 3 times at razorgore...

I think it speaks for itself, ossi is a %^&*! with crap loot compared to the effort...

We went there for the very first time - and killed him. Yes, not *easily*, but once all had their act together he was dead... Hence the rewards are now only mediocre compared to what you get in the outlands. It all makes sense.
BUT - it was still great fun doing this.

"Well this is pure crap for a damage dealign caster, Choker of the Firelord has more +dmg.

Once again a huge dissapointement"

well... if you didnt know all guilds cant kill Ragnaros for Choker of Fire Lord?
and Ossirian is much easier than raggy > (i dont mean raggy is hard but... harder than ossi)

An equal Caster Neck that drops of Luci (the first boss of MC) is this
(Item #17109) of Enlightment
less + damage but adds Spirit - a little intellect and same stamina

Trying to compare this to Choker of the firelord or any other 40 man instance drop is like trying to compare Zinrokh to Askhandi. They're just on 2 different levels.

Not you but warriors who take the dps neck!
never ever take the dps nec, its worthless, and even if you say you aint a tank &*!@ that, a warriors that never tanks is a worthless warrior, you will allways tank at some point in the game or has your guild 20 warriors and 19 of them are tanks? and guilds should also have tank prio for this and healer, seeming as thoose are the only things worth having

Bah. Utter crap for hunts. Choker of the Shifting Sands is ok at best, but most hunts would be just as well served by the Darkmoon Amulet or the Ony Neck, since both are mostly better. And yes, I know it's comparing a 20 item to a 40, but really, Ony isn't THAT hard and if you can find 20 people good enough to drop Ossy, you can find another 10-15 and drop Ony.

Just my 2 bits.
