Elune's Blessing

Summon Omen, defeat him and gain Elune's Blessing. Return to Valadar Starsong in Nighthaven
  •
Receive Elune's Blessing.

Description

The beast Omen was once a hero of this world. A wolf of great strength and fortune, Omen fought beside the heroes of the War of the Ancients until he succumbed to demonic magics. Turning against his allies, he raged across Azeroth and carried death and terror in his wake.

Finally defeated here, in Moonglade, Omen now sleeps among the silt of Lake Elune'ara. But each new year, during the festival, he stirs...

Gather cohorts, <name>, and summon and defeat the beast Omen. Earn the blessing of Elune!

You don't have to participate in the raid that kills Omen in order to receive Elune's Blessing all you have to do is stand on his corpse once he is dead, and you will receive the blessing. This works even if you are the opposite faction of the people who killed him.

Here's how you summon him.

1) Go to Moonglade (by using lunar festival invitation).

2) Bought 20 Green rocket cluster.

3) Go to "stormrage barrow dens" in Moonglade (about 65, 65).

4) Fired 5 Green rocket cluster in the two launchers.
(then I summoned Omen Minions, and killed about 10 of them)

5) I now fired the last 15 rockets and used my gun "Elune's candle" on a minion and there he was.
(you get the candle if you deliver 5 Coins of ancestry).

Two days ago, we have a nice 40 man raid started and were ready to summon Omen's minions with the 'special fireworks launchers' near the Barrow Dens (SW coast of Lake Elune'ara - the section missing from the thottbot map).

We shot off at least fourty with no sign of the minions.&nbsp Eventually - ALL 40 left as no body could figure it out.&nbsp Several of us did get large lag spikes while setting off the fireworks clusters.&nbsp We went from <250ms latency to >1000ms latency (things froze for at least two minutes at the time of the spike).

No minions, no Omen, no fun.

So last night I decide to go back to Moonglade (via the invitation through startlight).&nbsp I noticed there were minions all around.&nbsp These demon dogs were regular L60s and not all that tough for a vetran L60 toon.&nbsp These minions appear to respawn at a fast rate as I could solo two at a time, but would see that others would quickly re pop.

So being a very quiet night in Moonglade, I did not want to waste any time recruiting for a 30+ man raid.&nbsp So I started shooting off fireworks clusters and not less than 7 tries later, the big do (two headed wolf) appeared.&nbsp The minions went away so I started recruiting to see if anybody was up for it.

Thankfully they were.&nbsp Eventually we had a nice group of 30 ready to go.&nbsp Mostly we were Level 60+ (being new L60s dont have much in the way of gear- a vetran 60 will have all L50+ blues and an 'elite' L60 will have mostly EPIC 60 gear).

We had an MT and OT with def (tanking skills) at or over 400.&nbsp The main key is to hold aggro (and let the MT build aggro) on Omen.&nbsp While this is going on the healers heal the crap out of the MT (main tank).

Once aggro is aquired, the other damage classes, ranged casters, etc.. open up.&nbsp Healers still need to heal - because if aggro is lost and the ranged DPS are still casting (aggro'ing) the BOSS dog will cut them down quickly (and wipe the group).&nbsp I must say the group I was in did a very good job of healing.&nbsp We only had a few deaths and none of the tanks went down (some Level 40's died quick).

All casters were low on mana.&nbsp Also note the rev location is close to the Omen battlesite - so there is no point is druids (or ressers) wasting mana on ressing (or rezzing) - unless manybe its the Main Tank.&nbsp The fight took at least 10+ minutes to bring Omen down.&nbsp SRA2 was a big part of this (though I am not a member).&nbsp

Omen is probably tougher than a core hound, but only does some AoE fire damage.&nbsp He does hit very hard toes to toe and has a nasty cleave that gets all who are close.&nbsp As I was not fully def spec'd because I was not tanking, I still had over a 350def and took plenty of damage throughout the fight.&nbsp Our MT never lost aggro and the healers kept him standing (along with the rest of the tanks) so we did very well.

I do not think Omen is tougher than a top world boss - such as Azuregos (Boss Frost Dragon in Azshara) as a good group of 30 L60s should be able to take him down easy.&nbsp I would guess a very good group of 60s could take him down 25 or maybe 20 players, though it may take some time.

I would recommend only L45 and up and L55+ to be effective in the battle.&nbsp Its also key to have a good MT who knows how to aggro.

kinda a long post, but I hope that answers all the questions.

It would appear&nbsp that Blizz has auto spawned the minions, to fix their bugs.

The quest worked fine for me last night (2-16-2006) so it's not bugged on my server anyways. I just joined a PuG raid, one of them shared the quest with me and we went at him with about 12 60-70's. A lot of deaths, but the fight is right at the entrance to one of the graveyards. Never died myself, but I used 3-4 healing pots during 12-15 mins of fighting. Drained my full mana bar on Omen 4 times before he dropped, so his HP must be 250k+. Like others have said, just go up to his corpse like you're going to loot him and stand in the glow. You should get a message - "Received Elune's Blessing 1/1"

This guy is easy to summon. Here is what I did one-man to test him.

1) Go to moonglade (by using lunar festival invitation).

2) Bought 20 Green rocket cluster.

3) Went to "stormrage barrow dens" in moonglade (about 65,65).

4) Fired 5 Green rocket cluster in the two launchers.

5) I now fired the last 15 rockets and used my gun "Elune's candle" on a minion and there he was.
(you get the candle if you deliver 5 Coins of ancestry).

Omen = Boss (level ?), so you better get a raid.

He does a lot of damage with his AoE, but he is kinda slow, so I ran away.

Btw, he is using arcane damage and is a demon.

Satezz, 60 Hunter, Magtheridon...

Just downed him with a 9 player pug, mostly level 67+. He has an AOE called Starfall (arcane damage) which you just need to avoid periodically. Tanked him near the summon spot (you can rez at the graveyard next to it). Took about 15 minutes to get him down, good to have a holy priest / resto druid. Omen's health doesn't reset if you have to start again, which is nice. You can also kite him into town and have the guards get him, but he can get bugged on the environment. Not a hard fight if you have the heals and DPS.

It should be noted as of this post the elite guards around the festival grounds in Moonglade will NOT aid in killing Omen. He will also reset back to the Burrow area if he loses aggro on any player.

Did this with my guild. We had some level 70:s and the lowest one was me (level 63). We were 8 people and got him down after 15 to 20 minutes of battle. We only had one healer (level 68 priest) but we managed anyways. We died a lot but the graveyard is right next to the place so that was no problem. The rewards aren't that über but that lantern is pretty cool. Kill this guy if you can because having a raid with your guild is fun.

Today we were about 30 people,we killd him ,i got the Elune's Blessing but couldn't complete the quest.
After reporting to a GM he told me that you can't die and you have to be participating since the invocation till he dies to be able to complete the quest.
Seems it's a bad excuse cuz the quest asks you to kill him and get the blessing i got this but couldn't complete. U.U

When you kill him if you don't get the credit right away, have 1 person keep the quest and everyone else abbandon it ((make sure they click off the buff))

Then have that person share the quest with the others again, and go in to get the buff and the complete
Worked that way for us not 10 min ago

7 man team level 51-70 mostly (6 members 63+) 3x Druids, 1x lvl67 prot tank, 2 mages and a hunter

had 5 pallies healing between lvl 39 and 54, 1 lvl 70 hunter, a lvl 61 warrior, and 5 random lvls between 50 and 56 took us about 45 mins. good luck with it.

Just downed him on Talnivarr, we where about 8 ppl (2x lvl 70, rest under 68) taking him, 2 priests, 1 druid, 2 warlocks, 1 mage and 2 paladins

paladin tanked while i spamhealed as a paladin, the quest didn't get bugged for all of us, well, i got the item, aswell as another warlock, bugged for the others.

I think you cant complete the quest if you dont get the quest by yourself, me and the other guy that got the lantern shared it for the rest of the raid.. well, we'll take him again tomorrow

you need to buy the fireworks in any major city, they are grouped up together, just look for the beams of light.&nbsp Also, Omen is very rough, this IS a raid quest, there is no avoiding it, he's tough.&nbsp His Starfall AoE also does near 900 dmg/sec, so be wary.&nbsp Hope this helps
