Weapons of Choice

Bring a Razormane Backstabber, a Charred Razormane Wand and a Razormane War Shield to Tatternack Steelforge at Camp Taurajo in the Barrens.

Description

The Razormane quilboars to the south, beyond the Field of Giants, have no skilled blacksmiths from what I am told, but they've apparently started to develop sturdier weapons. I'd like to get my hands on a few different types to learn their techniques if possible.

If you wish to help bring honor to the Horde, then bring me examples of their weapons. Find me a dagger from their stalkers, a wand from their seers, and a shield from their warfrenzy. That should do nicely!

Found all around 42/82. The german name for the mobs that got the stuff is Razormane-Seher (mages), Razormane-Schleicher (the cloaked guys) and Razormane-Kriegsraserei (dual-sword fighters). All mobs are lvl 21-24.

First drop for dagger, about 12 for wand, close to 20 for shield.

Your results may (and will vary) for this quest. Don't give up. Things could be worse: You could need more than one of each. =P

Can't speak much about Stalkers and Pathfinders, since I barely had to fight them. Go for Pathfinders, since they're weaker and seam to have the same drop rate.

Warfrenzies are the toughest in my opinion. They hit FAST. Casters may have trouble with them, unless you can shut them down.

All the mobs like to run, so if you're by other mobs, try to stop them when they're low on health. The place is generally a big open field, with exception to some people who like to stealth. I find they tend to clump around one area, though. So find where they aren't populated to farm for the items.

A word about drop rates:

They are chances affected by a random roll.

They do not improve because you leave, or because you already have one of the items, or because the moon is full.&nbsp They're chances in a random roll.

If the items do not drop for a long time, it is only because you are unlucky.&nbsp There is only one way to get them to drop, and this is by increasing the number of rolls -- e.g. by killing more.

Don't complain too much.&nbsp The XP for killing these things is immense, they drop decent greens and wool, which is always in high demand.

Killed maybe about 40 warfrenzies....then went in on this page...read all about the hard drop on shields...then went back on...and the first one dropped a damn shield...well aint that just pretty?

My friend about killed me on this quest when we grouped for it. The items are Bind on Pickup and NOT unique so it IS possible to loot more than 1 of each item, thus screwing over your party member(s) should they need the item you just picked up!

There are a lot of cloaked mobs around so if you're solo'in it make sure not to attack something until you're sure there isn't any cloaked people around. Other than that it's a pretty easy quest.

I'm doing this quest with my 19 lock, but I'm having a hard time due to the stalkers' stealth. Before you attack any of the others, make sure they aren't around - if you're a hunter, never do mind, it's a walk in the park.

Perhaps they changed the drop rate, or perhaps I had better luck. I got the sword during my first trip through the area to kill the three quillboar leaders. I did a second trip through the area and got the shield fairly quickly, later on my third attempt (only attacking seers) I got the wand. I probably killed about 5 stalkers, 10-15 warfrenzys, and about 15+ seers to complete the quest. My advice is that if you don't get it after about 10 kills, leave and come back another time.

Got it on the first Warfrenzy drop... I guess I'm lucky in that case. The locs are correct... killed my Frenzy guy at 42,80

The name of this quest is possibly a reference to Fatboy Slim's song "Weapon of Choice". The music video of it was pretty famous, involving Christopher Walken dancing.

Did this as a 25 Lock. Fairly easy. Just take every mob one by one and clear the field. Took about 15 minutes, the Warfrenzy mobs took a while to drop the shield.

People below were right about coming back.&nbsp I grinded for about an hour killing everything and only finding the shield.&nbsp I logged off, coming back about 3 hours later and I got the wand and backstabber within 5 kills.

I found the backstabber on a pathfinder at the camp closest to Gold Road and the wand was on the first Seer to the right.

The Stalker dropped the dagger for me- and they are hard to see- they come up on you suddenly in stealth mode. Sometimes several of the stalkers jump you!

I soloed this with a lvl 22 Hunter- and leveled to 23 doing it too. I had to kill a bunch of them.

I soloed this quest at level 22 with a 22 pet. It is incredibly hard to solo because the stalkers are hidden and I couldn't track them on my radar. I must've died like 6 times before I got all three pieces.

i would reccomend being level 22 before you do this quest. as the previous poster said stick to the western hills. if you follow them inwards towards the camps there will be a little area with a tin vein and where only one mob spawns or wanders by. from what i saw that seemed to be the best area to set up. I had 2 other people in my group and we pulled to there with no problems. Later another person who was wokring the quest came by and we were able to then move throughtout the camps slaughting the mobs. The quest pieces seemed kinda rare. Pretty sure only the warfrnzies drop the shield, the seers drop the wand and stalkers drop the backstabber.

i am working on this quest at level 22 and level 21 pet. i had both wand and backstabber but shield seems to be hard to find. i kiiled almost 20 or 25 warfrenzy but it didnt drop quest item.

And FINALLY got my [Charred Razormane Wand].

Nice quest in a good grinding area for a level 24 mage as myself, got loads of XP trying to get my hands on that rarely dropped shield.
Only problem in this area is the stalkers, but kepp your eyes open, don't run around too much and you will be fine.

Do the quest "Betrayal from within" at the same time and you surely will level up after these.

Soloed this as a 22 warlock(yes, with my succubus, it's still a solo)...the 25 warfrenzys are tricky at that level, but if you do it carefully, they can be pulled singly and kited. DOTs can take care of them no prob. Just be sure you keep your running path cleared of the thunderhawks and hecklefangs. All 3 weapons dropped on about the 4th or 5th kill of that type - Pathfinders = backstabber, Warfrenzy = shield, Seers = wand. All in all, a pretty easy quest...almost died once when a seeker snuck up on me while I was taking on a 25th warfrenzy, but other than that it was pretty much a cakewalk

Damn. I got the wand and the backstabber after about 4-5 kills. But the shield took forever. I think i killed about 40-50 warfrenzys before i got one. A big pain in the ass.

(Well...i was just out of luck. Did this quest with another char, some time ago, and that time it didnt took this long.)
