Dead Man's Plea

Go into Stratholme and rescue Ysida Harmon from Baron Rivendare.

Description

I'll provide you the information you ask for, <name>. But more pressing matters are at hand.

My beloved wife has been taken prisoner by Rivendare's undead scum.

I strongly objected to her joining the Argent Dawn's foolish crusade, yet that's not of importance anymore. You must finish what I attempted to do, you must rescue Ysida from the clutches of the Baron!

Just to let everybody know a few things about this quest:

1. It is completely possible for a group equipped entirely in blues to complete this quest successfully.&nbsp I personally have never done it, but I have started my own timer with the Baron's and we've done it in 56 minutes and that was with a lot of scrweing around, a few "AFK for a min", and even 1 complete wipe (luckily we had a shaman with us and she Reincarnated and we got back going in a couple of minutes).

2. You do not actually have to KILL the Baron within the 45 minute timer.&nbsp All you have to do within the 45 minute timer is have each player in your group who is on this quest "tap" Rivendare.&nbsp After this you can wipe, corpse run, east dinner, smoke a cigarette, have sex with your girlfriend, wash your car, then come back and finish the Baron off and you will still successfully complete the quest.&nbsp Now I know some people are going to call "bull&*!@" on me on that one, but I have a guildie who has successfully completed multiple 45 minute Baron runs and he swears this is the case.

3. A few of the people above posted about how to pull this instance and for the most part they were entirely correct.&nbsp I'll throw my 2 cents in here on that matter.&nbsp First, when you go through the gate right after receiving "The Baron's Ultimatum" there will be an area with a lot of banshees, crypt beasts, and a 3 gargoyle patrols going back and forth.&nbsp My advice is if you can grab one of the gargoyle patrols without waiting for it, do so.&nbsp They seem to have an ungodly aggro range and for some reason you seem to get all 3 if you get 1.&nbsp Pulling with counterspell seems to be the best way to pull these mobs back to you as the banshees, crypt beasts, and gargoyles all have ranged attacks.

4. Avoid as many fights as you safely can.&nbsp The only area I strongly recommend clearing fully is around the Baroness cause she can do some crazy things to your party.&nbsp As a side note to that, if you have any abilities that are on a timer that could potentially mess over your party (read: warrior intimidating shout), use them AS SOON AS you engage the Baroness, otherwise if you get mind controlled you can be sure she'll use them.&nbsp I have had many a Baron run get messed up because I got mind controlled and feared 3 of my party members into 3 different groups of mobs.

5. I think the best way to tackle the mini-bosses is Nerub'enkan, Baroness, then the Pallid guy.&nbsp After this you will have to deal with Barthilas, Rammstein, and finally Baron Rivendare himself.&nbsp I can honestly say Rivendare might be the EASIEST boss in the instance.&nbsp Have your tank pull him to the right side of the room and have somebody ready to AOE the skeletons as soon as they appear.&nbsp If you don't have a warlock or mage in your party make sure you raid the supply crates and everybody in your party (other than the main tank) has a couple of Stratholme Holy Waters and take turns using them to get rid of the skeletons.

6. The last piece of advice I would like to give is this.&nbsp If you wipe at any point before killing the Baroness (assuming you followed my order of boss killing), go back outside and have your party leader reset the instance.&nbsp If you wipe before the Baroness chances are your party got a bad break on an add, a stupid pull, or one of Blizzard's famous 8:00 pm CDT lag spikes that royally screwed you over.&nbsp It only takes a maximum of 25 minutes to get to the Baroness (only 15 of that being on the timer) if you take the side entrance to the instance, so you won't be wasting a ton of time running the same parts of the instance over and over.&nbsp Not to mention the number of scourgestones you'll be racking up killing those pesky undead over and over.

Well, I think that's all the advice I have on this quest.&nbsp As soon as I have all of the pieces of my Valor set that I need I'll be trying it out myself.&nbsp Wish me luck, and I wish you luck, even those of you who unthinkingly decided to roll alliance. =P

ok first of all, what a rush.... must have been the most intensive 45 mins in my WoW experience.

We had me (60 rogue with mostly blue items, but a good pve sword combat build), one rogue roughly same items/build as me, then an uber full epic-geared&nbsp rogue, an uber full epic-geared priest and a warrior with a few epics rest blue items.

In the beginning i doubted we would make it within the timelimit. Killing the baroness took longer than usual because she first took over our priest, then our epic-geared rogue (using most of his cooldown making him a pain to take down)... however we had a good pace at killing everything else... the priest would either shacklepull or pull with dots while we were fighting. You dont have time to wait for pulls...

When we reached the patch-dudes we had 15 mins left on the clock so we took it abit easy from there.... however... I died on rammstein because i got too impatient not letting the tank build up enough aggro... the plan we had on the mass-skeleton part was that me and the priest had to use our holy waters + the rest using whatever trinkets/dynamite they had... so my death could have been fatal for the mass-undead part... but thanks to a fantastic healing job done by our priest and a great tanking warrior we prevailed... the quest vanished when i died but reappeared when the Baron announced our last chance (5 mins remaining).

We fought the baron with all of us standing close to him, with me and the priest using each our holy waters for the skeleton spawns, needless to say the baron died very quickly with this group setup )

Step by step, here is the route we took AND you have to be constantly moving ofcourse and know exactly where the next "checkpoint" is to get as little downtime as possible:

1) The first arachna boss to the left down the street, avoiding the group to HIS left.

2) Baroness, avoiding the mobs to her left (back in the corner of the street), also after you've cleared that tower try to avoid the mobs standing at your groups right side as you proceed to the narrow alley to the third boss.

3) After finishing off the third boss (perhaps without aggroing the group at the far side of the stairs to that tower), try to cut through this open area taking out as few groups as possible, then hug the wall on the right side when heading towards the flesh-patched dudes.

4) The rest is about how much time you have left... we had roughly 15 mins left when we pulled the first patched horror, and two mins left on the timer when the baron died. We lost some time me dying and the group almost wiping at the mass-skeleton fight, but 30 mins from the start of the timer to the fleshy horror area is very good methinks.

This is the infamous "45-minute Strat" run that many have tried and few have beaten. It's part of the Dungeon Set 2 (Tier 0.5) upgrade quest chain, so it's appropriately difficult.

In order to pull this off successfully, you need to know how to cut the right corners:

1. you do not need (or want) to pull every group of mobs that you would normally pull on a Strat dead run. Walk around every group you possibly can. Battle the fewest number of enemies possible.

2. do not loot anything (except - maybe! - for the minibosses). You do not have the time to roll for random greens, but more importantly, if it takes you 3s to loot a mob and you loot 100 over the course of the run, that's 5 full minutes used. The timer is too tight to justify 5 minutes of looting.

3. start the next pull before the current mob is dead. The DPS players (specifically rogues and hunters) should basically have no downtime throughout the run. The only breaks you should take are for the casters to drink up, and even then you should only drop out of combat long enough for them to start.

4. most importantly and most obviously, remember to concentrate your firepower on a single target before moving onto the next one. That actually applies to every group, but people seem to forget easily.

Unfortunately a good part of this run is luck. With that said, best of luck to you. :)

It is not impossible. It takes practice. Those who are used to doing only 15 and 10 man's are going to have a hard time since you don't ever learn how to play your character effectively in raids. You just have to play smart and communicate a plan with the rest of your group. It would be hard in a PUG but not impossible as long as 2 people knew what they were doing. Level 60 is a must here. Don't even think of bringing a 58 or 59.

I have completed this 2 times now. First time took 7 tries and then we finally got it down. Priest, pally, warrior, rogue x2. Pulled Baron with 3 seconds to go. Too many deaths caused the last second pull. Mostly blues, couple of world epics and two or three end game epics in the whole party.

Second time I completed this, took some other guildies through. Priest, pally (who just sat in melee most of the time), warrior, mage, rogue. Pulled Baron with 3 min to go (even with a pally not healing and one death). Mostly blues and a few world epics. Two people had one zg epic each and 1 tier 1 piece.

With a mage, it is MUCH easier. Silence pulls are key with the banshees and screechers. If you don't have any silencers, use the corners to get out of site and pull them to you. Even though this party wasn't as strong since the pally wasn't healing and pulling and listening very well and we had one accidental pull, we still finished with 3 min to spare.

The key more than anything is CHAIN PULLING. You are never fighting less than 2 - 3 mobs at a time. Two healers take turns drinking while the other is pulling/healing. Mobs down to half health? SHACKLE PULL! Gargoyle incoming? Get him in the fray. Melee should be in battle for almost the full 45 min.

PATH TO TAKE:
-------------

**Enter second gate, timer starts (btw, if you die u lose the debuff but it will come back at 10 min and 5 min), open next gate and clear all pats and groups in the open area.

**Now head to Nerub'enkan (left). Pull only mobs in your way. Kill boss, clear the ziggarat.

**Head to baroness. Clear ONLY what you have to. Pull Baroness and hide behind a corner to pull her to the room you cleared initially. MAKE SURE WARRIOR DOES NOT HAVE AGRO for baroness fight. If your warrior gets mind controled, it will take too long to widdle him/her down to get them un MC'ed. You should clear the second ziggarat with 30 min still on timer.

**Head up the alley to Maleki. Again pull only what is needed.

**Head to abominations. You should be pulling your first abominations at 15 min. No less.

**After Ramstein and the masses of undead, you have a 30 - 45 second wait until the doors open and the 5 elite skelly guards come out. Take this time to rebuff, change armor, get pots ready, etc.

**Defeat skellies, run in Barons room, drink quick and move in!

By the way, this is by far the hardest part of the quest chain other than the final boss (from what I've heard anyway). I wish they would've put in a few more challenges like this. We are now at the last two quests before we complete our set. Most of the rest of the quests are grind farming and mat collecting. A few summoning of bosses which give out some KILLER LOOTZ tho! Got myself a ring with 7 def, 7 str, and 13 stam off of Kormok in Scholo!

Good luck to all and gratz to Blizz for an EXCELLENT quest that taught me to be an even better player!

This is how i have been able to do this run few times. Here are some things i suggest
  • Need 1-2 tankers can be pally, druid , warr any combo.
  • Need a priest
  • Highly suggest mage for ziggs
  • potions (mana, health, and perhaps def and agi)
Now this is the way MY GROUP did it and is in no way THE way to do it.

Normally i would say... just dont loot anything. save the time. But if you are going as a guild or with people you trust i say let the enchanter ML or FFA all the bosses.

At the start someone opens gate and starts the timer. I suggest if the mage has a key he blinks forward (every second counts) and opens second gate and starts the pulls. A simple fireblast and Counterspell will do wonders.

THE PULLS:
As for the pulls if you have Vent ot Teamspeak this goes smoothly you want to be engaged with 2-3 mobs at a time .. for most of the run. You want to pull and have Main Tank tank one .. and the Off tank tank one and kill whatever off tank is killin. When the mob is at 25-20% or so .. grab another and work on the MT's mob. and use this cycle. If a third mob comes .. shackle is sweet.

It is important to me to have a mage for one thing. COUNTERSPELL. It will do wonders here. You can easily pull with a spell and silence a caster .. bringing it to you .. which is what you want in this place.

Now as for resting. If you use the chain method of pulls i said earlier you can rest up while the tanks are generating aggro and get to 50% mana or so. (this is a common theme here)

This is the order i have done this in and have had the more frequent success.

#1 Spider boss. First you clear the entire area near the entrance gate. They need to be cleared sometime .. why not now =P. Next you hug the left side and pull your way down to the spider. You kill him first and when its done .. drink up and have a priest shield mage .. and let the mage solo zigg (if he can) while the rest of group clears towards banshee boss.

#2 Banshee boss. Pull her back to where you enetered this zone. (second gate after timer starts). It should be clear now since you started here. She will Mind control one of your guys .. just dps him/her WITHOUT KILLING HIM/HER and it will break. dps her down and do the same mage in the zigg strategy as before .. while the goup starts clearing the alleyway towards Maleki the Pallid.

Take the route from banshee to Maleki and avoid trap.

Chain pull here .. and make sure the mage counterspells the gargoyles to pull them closer. When you run into humanoids .. sheep pull .. counterspell any that start casting to pull .. and go to town. When you get down to the sheep left to kill .. start to pull the next group.
Try to clear the right wall on your way to Maleki since this is where you will fight him.

#3 Maleki. Pull him using line of sight to the corner where the casters were. Just beat him down and follow the mage zigg strategy again.

Now fom here to the event with the ogre things you want to clear the right wall all the way down. You can avoid the magistrate and the ghouls on the left. Once you at this point get ready for the event.

Most times i have completed this we had no les than 15 minutes left at this point .. if you have more time than this you are in great shape .. if you have 15 .. you are in good shape .. if you have less ... you need to pick up the pace.

#4 Event - Once the first pull starts steady DPS. Mages ned be aware of a few things here. #1 - you need to solo the bile slimes so that the group can continue to pull and not worry about slimes. #2 and this is HUGE .. you can counterspell the spit from the belchers. When you se the mouth get that shadowy glow .. use counterspell and stop the spit .. this saves priests mana on heals and cleanses and whatnot. Chain pull .. shackle when necessary and this will go smoothly.&nbsp

The key to these fights is a basic one that many forget. This goes easier .. if YOU LET THE TANK GET AGGRO. The battle actually goes longer if a mage or priest has to kite the boss because you are careless and think DPS = time. If the tank has aggro you can go balls to the walls and not die which is better.

#5 Rammstein - Once tank has aggro (during which time wands do wonders) open up and kill him. Straight forward fight .. i have lost many a 45 min baron run when someon thinks we are soo close to baron and gets a DPS itch he has to scratch and gets aggro and we all die or something.

For the AOE part.&nbsp Make sure a rezzer lives. Thats about it . AOE and if a mage has to die or a warlock so be it. but keep pally / priest up to rez before skellies.

#6 Skeletons. This depends on your group ..typically its shackle one.. pally one .. warr grabs rest. Dps same target until they are all down. If everyone is on the same target .. they go down fast.

#7 Baron - engage when ready. A few keys for this fight .. priest and mage stay back .. hunter also if you have one. Let the tank and pally / rouge tank him on the far corner .. by the girls cage. If they do this .. Barons Aura wont affect the casters and they can get clear casts and save mana on heals. Melee dps him .. priest heal. Mage protect priest with Arcane explosion when needed .. im a frost mage and 1-2 should clear em all. Frost/fire ball when you get a chance and this should go smoothly.

Grats on your 45 min run.
I apologize if this was hard to read but this is my first ever thottbot post. Sorry if i made any grammar mistakes as well.&nbsp

Attempted this with a Protection warrior (me), MC/BWL-geared mage and warlock, a priest and a not-so-great paladin. There should be no breaks - constant pulling and fighting is required. We got through the gauntlet with about 10 minutes left, and it took about 15 minutes to clear the abominations, Rammstein, the skeleton spawns, and Baron. So aim to start pulling the abominations with 15 minutes left and if you keep the pace up pulling them you should be good.

Team make-up:
Hunter: Giantstalkers
Rogue: PVP gear, bits of ZG gear.
Priest: Devout + blues
Mage: Magister's + blues
Paladin: highest blue armor with stam I could find, shield, and the Argent Dawn's reward sword.

3 of us had the upgraded Argent Dawn trinkets.

I got to tank. Kinda.

What we did was the hunter did most of the pulling, else I did it. When the creeps we were killing were at <20% health, he went and pulled another. This worked really well for us, except at the Abominations. I made the mistake of leaving the priest with an Abomination so I could go pull, and the oozies ate him. Just a warning for that section.

Also very key is that you need to fight the urge to play defensively. We're all used to pulling, and then moving back to the group so the creeps move back. Here, I had to move forward (cautiously) so we could move faster. Use your discretion, of course. As usual, you can pull some casters by moving out of sight, or you can run up if they refuse to come.

Best things ever: shackles (for accidental pulls), silence, holy waters, bombs, and your corporal trinket.

We had to reset twice after the rogue and I were feared into mobs. Either equip your trinket, or save your Divine Shield (if you're a pally). Your other options are stunlocks and silences.

I pulled the spider boss to us, hugging the left, but ran up the ramps to the Baroness and Malecki. We cleared the mobs on the right side of Malecki so I could run up. Baroness, we ran to the crate and popped it. Then I ran straight up the stairs to her. Good thing about me tanking was that I didn't have to worry about fearing us into mobs if MCed.

I always judged Wisdom, and used Seal of Wisdom. I did run out of mana several times, but as long as the priest had 2K mana, we kept going. Potions are your friends.

Clearing towers was started by me, since I'm right at the boss, with Retribution aura, consecration, Rammstein's Lightening Bolts and/or a bomb. Everyone else would catch up and finish off the rest.

We did 2-3 mana breaks, stopping when the priest had 2K mana.

Our successful run was not clean, like our first 2 attempts. 1st attempted was for the hell of it, and had too many pulls and one too many bosses. Time was up after Rammstein. 2nd attempt, we wiped at the baron with 5 minutes to go. We're not thinking about that.

The squishies died at least 3 times each. If the priest went down, I shielded and healed. We ressed our mage into the charge of non-elite skellies, and he charged right into the mess and AOEd.

We did the Baron with the priest shadow buff, holy waters, and downed him with about a minute to spare. Then we had a little party.

It was not clean, and we had to do an extra pull or 2. If it's not perfect, keep going! It's still doable.

Keep in mind you don't have to kill the Baron within the 45 minutes. You just have to engage him. Unless you're critically short on time, get buffed, your cooldowns up, and to full health and mana before starting it up. After all, no matter how much time you have left you only get one shot at him if you want complete the quest.

I just tanked 45 min. rstrat! I can definitely say I have done ZG and other end-game instances but, they don't compare to this quest I finnaly got an epic geared hunter to go and, he got all his epic friends to go from his guild we all got on vent and it was instense, but we managed to do it with 3 mins left over. Our group was,
1. level 60 Orc Warrior (me)
2. level 60 Tauren Hunter
3. level 60 Undead Priest
4. level 60 Undead Warlock
5. level 60 Tauren Shaman
I had this quest for over 7 months b4 i finnaly finished it. And, I learned quite a few things
1. It is nearly impossible without at 3-4 epic geared guys (reccomended 4)
2. Vent definitely not needed but, yet again it definitely reccomended.
3. You will not finish it on time if you have anymore than 1 AFK so after that portcullis you must be fast.
4. It is impossible to kill everything and finish on time so, on spider boss clear out small space and pull him to you, on Baroness clear out 2-3 small groups and let your hunter/caster fight her at range you will avoid mind control, on malekei clear out half of his space and kill him, and finally on key boss skip him he takes much too long.
5. Don't use Master Looter you will not have the time to stop at every single boss.
6. All NPC's besides bosses don't loot because that adds up alot of time with all the things that drop in rstrat.
7. I reccomend a lock over a mage because you just need enough aoe to take down the skeleton attackers before the baron, and the lock can soulstone.
8. On abominations pul 2 at a time because, that's enough to handle and, enought to go fast.
9. On skeletons let caster get right warrior challenging shout and caster get right in the middle of it and aoe priest heal them even if they got full health cuz if you don't they will die quickly.
10. On abomination boss everyone just do damage to him it's all about just trying to kill him.
11. When the 6 elites come out if everybody does their classes jobs right you should be fine.
12. On the Baron Hunter stay back and shoot him, caster aoe all the skeletons before baron gets healed, Tank keep him on you at all times, shaman do dmg on baron, and priest heal.
Now those are my tips the final thing im going to tell you is where you should be by a certain time.
1. spider boss should be dead by 35 mins left.
2. boroness should be dead by 30 mins left.
3. malekei should be dead by 25 mins left.
4. you should be at abominations by 15 mins left.
5. skeletons boss and elites should be dead by 5 mins left.
6. baron should be dead anywhere from 3-1 mins left.
7. and you should turn the quest in whenever you fell like it.

Went to try a 45min run yesterday.

We were:

1 Paladin
1 Mage
1 Hunter
1 Warrior
1 Rogue (who left just before Nerub'enkan)

So we did this from Nerub forth with only 4 ppl.

Had a wipe due to fears after the trap by nerub. Corpse ran.

Rest went smoothly, hunter kept pulling.

Had 8 Minutes left when we reached Ramstein ^^.

Smashed the zombies and skels, then went in.

Mage and hunter went into barons room, and pet obviously ran off to kill baron by himself (Gotta love pet bugs) So door closed right in front of me (warrior) and pally. Mage and hunter died, and we were like oh noes :D. Well baron didn't kill Ysida (probably since whole group didn't get killed) And with 3 minutes left on the timer we ressed Mage and Hunter.

Attacked Baron with a good 2

I just did this, with my group it technically took one try (had a warlock and a different rouge the time before the winning run). We weren't that well geared, I'm a priest and I had just most of my dungeon set on me, but here's a nifty trick tp cut a decent ammount of time:

(This really applies largely to Horde, but if you have a warlock that works too)
Go about how you would regularly do the run. Kill the spider, baroness, and Malakai. When you make the transition to Malakai be sure not to take the gated trap where all the bugs spawn, go the back way from the Baroness. After you come from the alleyway only kill the pats and the monsters on the right side working up to Malakai. When you kill him (here's the nifty bit (and make sure you have a shammy who can pop or an SS on the priest)) shield the tank, cast a renew on him, and let him draw aggro all the way to the gates with the rest of your party behind him (to a resonable extent). Once you get in the gates die, pop, heal, pull the abominations. It doesn't sound all that great but it got us to the Baronn in time, and that's all that matter. You skip about seven or ten pulls, which is pretty precious time.

We were able to complete this crazy quest with a very unconventional group...

Pally (me)(holy) - all blues, only 1 epic
Driud (feral-tank) - all blues, only 1 epic
Priest - all blues except for 1 green and 1 epic
Mage (fire) - all blues, only 1 epic
Rogue - all blues

It is true that the more dps you bring to the party, the easier it will be, which is why we were concerned that we wouldn't be able to do it, but we were very organized and were able to get to the baron with 2 minutes left (time enough for us to lick our wounds, rebuff, and kill kill kill)

The biggest trick we learned was to have the Priest pull all of the mobs....that's right!&nbsp Our priest chain pulled mobs for 2 main reasons...

1)&nbsp They are the only ones NOT doing dps, therefore, by chain-pulling (ie, pull next mob while current mob has about 50% health) all of the damage dealers were able to NEVER stop fighting.&nbsp It was basically a 43 minute slug-fest.&nbsp

2)&nbsp Since he was the primary healer, he controlled the pulls and managed his own mana.&nbsp When he would need a break (3-4 times total), the pally would take over healing and pulling.&nbsp Also, an innervate or 2 (or 6 actually, lol) from the druid helped out a lot.

The order we took was Spider, Baroness, Pallid.&nbsp After the baroness, which we pulled way back to the gate so as to avoid the accidental agro from her fear, we continued counter-clockwise to the pallid.&nbsp

For all Zigs, the priest and mage cleared them after the boss was killed while the pally, druid, and rogue continued to pull and kill.&nbsp After the priest and mage caught up, we went back to normal.

We did save about 4-6 minutes by doing a Zerg from the 3rd Zig to the gates and Divine Interventioning.&nbsp Our priest was killed on the run down, so I DI the druid and he battle-rezzed me.

The Event took about 15 minutes, then we moved in to the Baron.

It took us about a dozen tries, but we were able to do it.

Summary:

1)&nbsp Let the priest do the pulls, it works great.
2)&nbsp Bring as much dps as you can.
3)&nbsp I think the best order is spider, baroness, pallid, but that is up for debate.
4)&nbsp Let the mage/priest clear the Zigs and the rest continue killing.
5)&nbsp Use DI (or SS if you have a lock) to skip from the 3rd Zig to the Event (remember to clear the Zig first, lol)
6)&nbsp Bring lots of potions (major mana, major healing, mongoose, strength, superior defense, greater shadow protection) and other buffs (dense sharpening stones, poison, crystal force, etc, etc).

The event took us about 15 minutes, so plan your run accordingly.&nbsp You should, therfore, be completed with the Pallid at the 27 minute mark just to be sure.

Good luck.

> Unfortunately a good part of this run is luck

Good players make their own luck. Having reached Exalted by doing Strat 45 runs (with ZG blues) with ~10 minutes to spare, it boils down to:

1) Group buildup. Tank and primary Healer are the obvious. We mostly opted for a two mage team, with some melee DPS to wrap things up. Warrior will duel wield most of the time, using 1H+Shield when fighting multiple mobs and/or mob type.

2) Crowd-control. Priests are always healing, so they'll never shackle. But having two Frost Novas for spamming during four mob pulls is critical. Three are pinned to the floor, allowing the group to kill one mob that is extracted from the group.

3) Fast pulling (and counterspell from Mage), but one that allows a slight pause between kill/re-entering combat: this allows drinking (even if of small amounts). Most pulls are from the Warrior, but some are better if they are sheep pulls,

4) Fixed pulling order. You aren't pulling all of the mobs, and we had our mob pulls numbered. Our path is different than the one below, but it gives you a good idea of the notion of mob avoidance.
http://www.wowwiki.com/Image:Baron45.jpg

5) Use line-of-sight to move mobs to kill locations. Depends on your pathing.

6) Mage solos a Ziggurat. Once the group kills Baroness Anastari, four players continue to clear to Nerub while a mage solos the zigg. Mage will solo the trap, while the group is killing Nerub, and then solo the zigg. Mage will solo zigg on Maleki while group is clearing to the abomination gates. This buys us time.

6) Cleaner. Put the loot in FFA, and have a enchanter shift-click on everything. Each one of us made ~70g minimum per run by disenchanting everything that was looted.

This quest is one of the greatest challenges in the game. It has more to do with skill and teamplay, than with gear.

You just have to start the battle with baron within the time limit!

Hunter (with pet)
Mage (me)
Warrior
Priest
Shaman

(Used allot of Major mana potions and Major healing potions)

All with blue+ eq.

1) The first boss (spider) to the left down the street, avoiding the group to the right side of the tower.

Mage and priest did the inside tower while hunter, warrior and shaman continued back to the baroness walking the left side of street to her.

2) Baroness: we continued left and around and BYPASSED her (avoiding the group to the right side of the tower), and killed the grps down the narrow alley - when the narrow alley was cleared the hunter pulled her down and we fight her there.

Mage and priest did the inside tower while hunter, warrior and shaman continued down the narrow alley to the third boss.

3) 3rd boss killed him easily and time showed 20 mins on the clock. We did the grps on both sides of the tower (you dont need to do that, but the time looked good) and continued to the right side of the street - bypassed the grp of 4 standing on the left side of the gate and pull the grp of two standing on the right side of the gate and dragged them into the tunnel and killed them there.

4) Killed the "fat guys", the boss, the 1000 small skeletons and then the door has approx. 1 min cool down to open .. When door opened the time showed 1:57 mins left on the clock. (used CT_TIMER)

Killed the 5 Elite skeletons and time showed 27 sec.

Rested in 17 sec and starting to run in with 10 sec left and with 2 sec left - we fired the first shot at the Baron .. and killed him.

Did this flawlessly last night with my guildies on Bonechewer alliance. The group setup was...

Priest (me)
Warrior
Mage
Rogue
Rogue

Pull like crazy and you can do it :p need a good priest who can pull continuously though and is able to tell everyone want to do in ventrilo (aka which mob to attack next, which mob to sheep, when to use counterspell/kick to avoid agroing mobs you don't need to do..)

Here is a screenshot of when we entered baron's room and fully rested up. we had almost 5 minutes to spare. We pulled baron with 4:52 on the clock.

----http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/Taliic/baron452left.jpg

After baron died we had 3:21 on the clock.

----http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v288/Taliic/baron321left.jpg

None of us except the warrior were geared. The warrior had a bunch of epics and tanked really well. Myself, the mage, and the 2 rogues were in 90% blues except for our epic hands that we all had from the previous quest.

Our group consisted of,
A hunter, A pally, A warrior, A priest (me), A mage

We had no buffs execpt Fort, Spirit, AI

We started by wiping on the first pull three times, just because we wern't paying attention. It sounds stupid but it happens.

We decided to give it one more try, and start pulling the walls that were the inner circle part. (UD strat's like a big circle *outer walls are bosses inner has nothing*)

During our run, we had a total of 4 d/c's, 4 people dieng *including me*. BUT we kept focusing and trying our best.

When we got to baron's room, all we did was have mana a little up and we rushed him because of our delays. I lagged and when I came back the warrior was dead and the group was almost finished. I managed to get everyones health back up to full *excluding warrior* and I oomed, everyone nuked the boss and we all died. INCLUDING THE BOSS. Ysida came out and it showed we completed the quest.

So basicly the points to this story are...

1) You really don't need to spend money on buying pots or anything.
2) D/C's are possible, just keep pulling mobs, skip bosses until there back.
3) People can die, just rez them up quickly.
4) If you wipe on Baron, but still kill him, you completed it
5) Ysida DOESNT despawn when you run back to her after dieng at Baron
6) IT IS COMPLETLY DO-ABLE we had every problem in the book with some of our runs and we still did good.

*note the path we took was the banshee, spider, then the third guy I can't remember his name off book.*

just a helpful tip.... If you can mannage to get a priest and 'Lock in your party for this 45 min run you can easily save 10 min of pulling... After you kill Malaki and clear Zig&nbsp 1)Soulstone the priest&nbsp 2)priest bubble warrior or tank of party&nbsp 3)run for the gates...force wipe just inside the gate (just far enough to avoid agro from behind, yet not too close to Viles.

even if the tank dies... as long as 'Lock priest and any 1 other make it inside gates you are set.... summon upon reentry to instance....once you pull vile's gate closes behind stoping agro from ghouls

warrior, rogue, mage, priest, and I ('Lock)
Baron dead 39 min

Blizzard responded to my trouble ticket - for some reason by email despite the fact I was online at the time. They said "Make sure that you're not in a raid, and make sure that you're on the right quest." They may as well have said "Make sure you're not a total moron wasting our time." GG Blizz. I love spending my time trying to contact GM's rather than playing the game. I guess I'll try again by email and include the screenies.

Well it took 3 trouble tickets to finally get in contact with a GM, and they said they had a theory that if by chance a hunter's pet got the killing blow on the Baron, it would bug the quest as it did for me. They said they didn't have a good solution that they knew of other than to call pets off toward the end of the fight. Looks like I've got to do it all over again. Pisser.

I did this quest the conventional way, but my buddy wasn't with me when we did it, I owed him a run but didn't want to do it. Then I saw this post and how to do it, it worked like a charm (just be sure the Lock released prior to resetting the instance, so that he is standing in the graveyard. After reset, Lock accepts rez and you are home free).
For those of you who think this is unethical, let me point out that no mod or cheat code is being used, you are simply using the tools available to you. Many quest are done in unconventional ways, this is simply one way of completing this quest.

Priest
Rogue
Warrior
Mage
Hunter

Basically we killed Baroness first, then spider, then maleki.&nbsp Good thing is there was no wipes and no deaths involved.&nbsp DPS is needed all the time and basically it was an almost constant non stop pulling of mobs from start to finish.&nbsp We managed to engage the Baron with under a minute left on the clock.&nbsp I must say, it was a true challenge.

Did it today with 2 warriors, 2 shamans and 1 warlock. We pulled pretty much all the time often having almost too many mobs. No shield unless at one of the bosses - was all about doing max damage. One shaman would heal in one combat, the other rest. The double utility with all the totems was a nice boost as both poison/disease could be cleansed automagically with totems. Especially having both GoA/WF-totem up was a nice overall boost to dps.

We arrived at the baron with 5min to spare and had a wipe in the start on the baroness (MC'ed the rank14, popped recklessness on him, tore us to shreds and lastly feared us into mobs)

1 of the warrior had some bwl epics, the other a former rank14 so can't say it was ordinary warriors. The remaining 3 had normal blue gear tho.

I think it's all about keeping the speed up and pull almost to your limit of handling. Knowing exactly the way to go and what mobs to pull is a big big plus. And having an overall gauge of the time spent.

We spent alot of holy water potions on the mobs at the baron and the loads of skellies near his domain, so stock up on these before hand and generally just boost yourselves as much as possible with potions, juju and whatever you can find.

All in all, it was the most intense run I've ever had and damn fun.

60 Priest
60 Warrior (me)
60 mage
60 rogue
60 Shaman
----------------
we first pulled the banshee when we opened teh gate and while i was tanking the shaman pulled 2 more crypt fiends and priest shackled one.. we skipped the ghouls to the right and took the left down fast we took 2 more ghouls to the left and pulled a banshee and gargoyles and quickly killed baroness with 38 minutes remaining... we pulled the shadowcasters and the ghouls towards the left for some reason.. and we pwned them and pulled the crypt fiend/shadow casters group and killed Nerub'Enkhan in about 30 minutes left.. we quickly went through the trap door from the south cleared way for the right and pulled the big shadowcasters group and took down maleki as fast as we could.. while the priest and mage were AOE'ING in the ziggurat me shaman and rogue would pull more (we did that for every zigg) and then we obviously skipped magistrate and teh ghoul group to the right and went into the abombinations with 18 minutes left... we kept pulling 2 at a time... 1 shackled sometimes i would tank 2... after about 9 minutes left ramstein was up and took about 1 minute and 30 seconds to take him down... then we used priest and mages and shamans AOE for the trash mobs along with my strath holy waters... they died fast... we waited a minute or more for the freaking black gaurds to come out.. we used mad aoe on them too.. all used strath holy waters... tehre was holy nova's fire totems and arcane explosions and blizzard and flame strike and everything! cleave/whirlwind and rogues blade thing... with 4 minutes remaining we made it inside baron and had time to rest and killed him with only 45 seconds left on our timer... lol! =) GG

Last night I just finished with this quest after a dozen trys.&nbsp And I finished it when I was least expecting it.&nbsp Because I joined a random pickup group looking for a tank, then I was told that two members (mage&rogue) in the group never tried 45mins before.&nbsp I was like crap, probably gonna be another waste of time.&nbsp But I went anyway thought at least can get some boss loots.&nbsp Along the way, I was talking stuff like no normal looting allowed, sit drink all the time, DI and death run crap.

After I got there and realized the mage and rogue are both EPIC ARMED and they are helping one of the group members (priest).&nbsp I was like..hmm..gonna be interesting..&nbsp As soon as we poped the first group before the second gate under 10secs , I knew we could do it, but not without some twists along the way.&nbsp

Right after the timer starts, we pulled too many bats and priest died.&nbsp Pally in the group rezed her.&nbsp Went on finish the spider at 38 mins.&nbsp Then went to baronese.&nbsp While fighting her, we pulled another group of mobs and a bat patrol.&nbsp Almost wiped, but thanks for the healing from the priest and dps from mage and rogue.&nbsp When exiting the second tower, pally went the wrong way and jump right on top of another group of mobs on the left of the tower.&nbsp Mage died right away, and we pulled 2 more extra mobs.&nbsp Fighting to our death and survived.&nbsp Look at the timer, at 25mins left.&nbsp Getting to the mage was easy and as was killing him.&nbsp No problem exiting this time, continue into the gate with 15 min left (no death run) when pulling first big, fat ugly walking meat.&nbsp And finished all fights and ready for baron with 5 mins left!&nbsp Then we killed him in 2 mins.&nbsp As a bonus, I got my valor legging off baron too. :-)

The moral of this story is if you have trouble finishing the quest, ask your epic geared friends or guildies to help you, tell them it will be no more than 45 mins of their time.&nbsp GL!&nbsp

We only tried it once though and i was wondering if maybe they patched it or something. Or maybe we were to slow at rezzing and reseting. My guild has been doing the Tier .5 quests in order to gear up our non-raiders in preparation for the expansion.&nbsp Of course we have all been to the Baron many times, but last night was our first official 45 minute attempt.&nbsp Our group consisted of:

Warrior (me)
Shammy
Warlock
Druid
Priest

All party members were equipped mostly in Blues with a smattering of Epics, except for the Priest, who was full T1.&nbsp I just want to reiterate a few key points for those who feel that this is such a difficult quest.

1.&nbsp Do this with people you know.&nbsp 45 min Baron pugs don't usually work, and that's a fact.

2.&nbsp Get on Vent or another chat service.&nbsp If not you will waste too much time typing.

4.&nbsp Nominate a leader who knows exactly what needs to be done.&nbsp That means someone will have to do some research.&nbsp

5.&nbsp Come prepared.&nbsp Bring those potions, foods, poisons, buffing tools, and all the other consumables you've been saving.&nbsp Use it all and keep using them during the fight.&nbsp This is not the time to be leaving the things that can help you back in your bank like some noob either.

6.&nbsp Don't fight anything you don't have to.&nbsp This includes the Magistrate.&nbsp

7.&nbsp Constant pulls.&nbsp The puller should be pulling the next group just before the one you are currently fighting is down.&nbsp The group leader should also be using icons and voice chat to designate the next pull.

8.&nbsp Mana breaks before ziggurat bosses only.

9.&nbsp Due to the above rule, casters *will* be low on mana most of the time.&nbsp This means that everyone melees.&nbsp With Battle Shout and other buffs up even clothies can deal out noticeable damage with a 2-handed weapon, so don't just stand there like a dumbass.&nbsp Get in there and start swinging, and trust your tanks to keep aggro off of you.&nbsp

9.&nbsp Don't waste a lot of time looting.&nbsp

10.&nbsp If you get to the Abominations with 14 minutes left, and you are constantly pulling them as I advised above, by the time you kill the skeleton warriors you should have *exactly* 2 minutes left to drink up and tag the Baron.&nbsp Easy.

Notice also that we did not have to use the Soulstone/Pally rez trick that others have described.

In short, stay relaxed, fight hard, but above all come with your game faces on.&nbsp No screwing around, no noob mistakes, no bio breaks, put your cat/dog outside, send your significant other shopping, send your kids to granny's house and ffs turn off your phone.&nbsp Come like you intend to get it done, and you'll be fine.

I tanked this as a 60 paladin in 6 LF/2 SF. I'm loving prot spec now, and I have the GM swiftblade. With righteous fury, and the occasional taunt, I was able to hold aggro ok. Kept crusader on baron, with seal of righteousness, holy shield, and constant consecrations, held him the whole time. The key was dps. We had

60 pal
60 priest
60 mage
60 lock
60 rogue

The real hero was the 60 priest who did an incredible job. She died twice and had SS both times. The rogue, who had just dinged 60 and was in greens and blues, died once on baron, and those were our only deaths. With all that dps, baron went down in...probably 30sec-1min.

Only me and the mage were guildies. The others were pickups. And we didn't use vent or ts. So don't let anyone tell you you can't pug it. Just get an awesome healer, something resembling a tank, and a lot of dps. Good luck!

Faedan - 60 Shadow Priest, +250 Shadow Damage (recently respecced from Holy).
Kaerin - 60 Marksmanship Hunter, full Tier 2.
Pea - 60 Frost Mage, working on Tier 0.5.
Yiz - 60 Demonology Warlock, +547 Shadow Damage.
Along with our superb MT / OT combination of Kaspar the owl, and Flaatom the felguard.

We really didn't have any problems.&nbsp We're all old hands at the game looking for stuff to do before the expansion comes out, and know exactly how each other plays.&nbsp We were doing the place in a little over an hour just going "quick", and got the 45 done on our second proper attempt (the first was plagued by us backing into groups of ghouls we weren't used to leaving).

Pet tanks healed by Vampiric Embrace is the way we did it.&nbsp We're used to not having a tank with our group, but Kaspar has 7.3k armor thanks to it scaling with Kaerin's Dragonstalker, so he can take a pounding.&nbsp Lots of fun, most intense thing we've done in a long long time.

I was the warrior we killed every add in our wary and we still had 7 mins to kill him . we done it this way . I was keep pulling mobs sometimes with my bow sometime with charge it depends the mob group the holy pala was healing only me and the retry the rest of the group wile he was fighting . the ziggurats was taken but the mage alone so the rest of the party to carry on. Also the fact that we had 2 palas with us the hole party had 2 auras (defense , shadow res ) and 2 blessings we did rec one simple sec and I was always in compact .The only pot that we used was holy water and only by me to aoe&nbsp a bit and gain some more threat. Maybe you shoud try this if you are a alliance if you are horde well maybe you should way till you have some good palas -)&nbsp
