The Perfect Poison

Dirk Thunderwood at Cenarion Hold wants you to bring him Venoxis's Venom Sac and Kurinnaxx's Venom Sac.
Venoxis's Venom Sac
Kurinnaxx's Venom Sac

Description

My brother and I run the poison operations out of the manor Ravenholdt.

Lord Ravenholdt tasked me to track down a new and extremely effective poison compound that can be crafted from the venom sacs of the inhabitants of Zul'Gurub and the Ruins of Ahn'Qiraj.

There are two particularly venomous beasts residing in those blasted ruins that possess what it is that we might be looking for, <class>. Bring me a venom sac from the beasts Kurinnaxx and Venoxis and we would be eternally grateful.

This is a single-part quest that was introduced in the 1.10 patch the NPC is in Cenarion Hold, inside the inn, to the left of the innkeeper. As said in the quest text, you need to gather two venom sacs: one from Kurinnaxx, first boss in AQ20, and one from Venoxis, one of the easiest bosses in ZG.

Kurinnaxx is not hard, but if you don't know what to expect, he will give you a bit of trouble. Everybody in the raid needs to keep moving around to avoid sand traps if the damage they inflict isn't much, and can be resisted (and absorbed with nature protection potions), the main issue is the silence effect, definitely a problem for casters (can't cast anything), and even warriors (you can't taunt or shout when silenced). Tanks will get tagged by him, the debuff increases damage taken and it stacks it's crucial that when one tank has 5 or 6 debuffs, another tank picks him up until the former tank has lost the debuffs (30 seconds or so). So, warriors taunt and keep Kurinnaxx moving around to avoid sandtraps, and share the job as debuffs rain on them, melee DPS keeps moving along and burn him down. Avoid standing -behind- him at all cost, his tail does a very nasty cleave, hit his sides instead don't stand infront of him if you're not a warrior, his frontal attack is even worse. Kurinnaxx isn't hard, and you don't need epic gear to win this, it's just basic group coordination and communication.

Venoxis is the easiest boss in ZG, found on the south side of the instance past the nook where the bat boss/Jek'lik is (ZG is all nooks, there's no order in which you kill the bosses). 4 serpent adds, one priest that turns into a big snake. Have mages sheep and/or druids sleep 3 of the adds, the main tank picks up Venoxis and drags him to a corner secondary tank picks up the non-sheeped/sleeped snake, everybody kills it, repeat with the 3 other adds. When all 4 adds are dead (they're easy), everybody moves on to the main tank and help him burn down Venoxis the only real hassle with Venoxis is the poison clouds he spreads around (acid green clouds, hard to miss them), they hurt a lot if you stand in them. The main tank will need to move Venoxis out of those clouds, melee follows out and keep burning the big snake down. And that's pretty much it, hence why Venoxis is called the easiest boss in ZG (if you want a real fight, head over to Jin'do lol).

Doomulus Prime is the most valuable to vendor sell.

Also, I was revered with Cen Circle when I turned it in, and there was no followup.

This sword is Very nice for a hunter... paire this with the old Vanquisher and that is 54 attack power.

Preference is 2 bonescrapers though.

The X-Bow is very nice, the increased dps over any of the 55+ Ranged, wileys, carapace spine and ancient bone bow is quite nice, add to it the + chance to hit and this makes a nice ranged wepon to take into MC for tranqing (if you don't already own a Strikers mark)

You can enter AQ20 with neutral, otherwise getting friendly would be too slow.

Secondly i would like to point out, for fury warr, with imp dual wield, ravenhold slicer is the best choice, because in the offhand it will do alot of dmg, at least crits of 300+, which is better result than what you would get with fast weapon. Also the Ap+ helps with bloodthirst.

AQ20 has never been popular with any of the guilds I have been a part of. its a bit too hard for the level of gear it gives. Much better to utilize your time in BWL and AQ40. There is gear that is better than ZG, but ZG is so easy as to make farming the place lucrative. Also, ZG reputation never fails to be useful where as CC rep lacks the repeatable enchants you'll want on your gear upgrades.

That being said, this is an easy quest. I finally ompleted it after one lazy night when I downed the first boss in a PUG. The only shame is that the rewards are lackluster. The weapons are alright, but simply by attending the instances that you need to complete it will leave you with better. The Healing Mace is better than the one from BRD that Paladins still like and sometimes have a hard time replacing, but otherwise there is nothing that you will find extraordinary.

This is a decent quest for a character not yet in a big raid guild and is attending PuGs to get geared, and it is a quick hundred rep you will latently complete, but not much else to see here other than ten gold for the Doomulus Prime and gold reward.

I have both venom sacs, and the question mark above his head is yellow, and he is turning up as a yellow dot on my mini map, but when I go to turn in the quest, it won't let me hit continue, anyone know why? Do you have to be in a party or raid to turn it in or something?

There would be no reason to use any of these weapons for tanking.&nbsp There are so many other weapons that most warriors would take the mace for a bad ass 2h.&nbsp I guess if your a duel wielding warrior you would take the Poker due to its Agi and decent damage.&nbsp Best weapon from this for a warrior in my eyes is the Mace.&nbsp

I struggle with which reward to take as a Paladin.&nbsp Finally something to replace Corruption for when I am solo or off tanking (better to keep aggro) in 5 man, vs. the obvious healing mace choice for end game raiding.&nbsp If someone knows of an obvious replacement that might come right after, please let me know.&nbsp Both of these would be substantial upgrades to either my damage or Healing set (yes, I am retnoob so that I can actually get things done when I am alone, but I take pride in my +Heal set.)

Thanks.

Every class gets a SWEET weapon from this quest line...but then there are the mages and the locks :( Arguably, Locks have it better than the mages, as they need stam a ton, but seriously, look at the rewards, and the usefullness that every other class can possibly get out of it, then look at what the mages have to look forward to.

Doomulous Prime > Arcanite Reaper - So Warriors and Pallies can pretty much forget about the Arcanite Reaper, and spending between 500g and 700g for a weapon they can replace with one that's free (other than repair costs).

The Thunderwood Poker > Heartseeker - Again, this weapon just makes Heartseeker completely not worth while. Why spend a HUGE amount of G on heartseeker when all you have to do for this is get into a good guild. (Considering how old most servers are these days, that's not a hard task)

And if you look at almost every other weapon, several classes could justifiably use them until end game content like MC, BWL, AQ40, or Noxx when it comes out. But then we all look at the Shiv... Like I said, locks are probably not to unhappy with the Shiv. Mages on the other hand got squat. :( Poor mages.

Don't get me wrong though, I think Blizzard did a tremendous job on the rewards for this quest. They are going to save a ton of people a ton of money.
