Journey to Stonetalon Peak

Travel to Keeper Albagorm on Stonetalon Peak.

Description

The forest spirits tell me you are brave and willing to travel.

To the south, not far from Mystral Lake, there lies a tunnel named The Talondeep Path. Through this tunnel you will come to an area known as Windshear Crag in the Stonetalon Mountains. Once there, journey to the southwest past Cragpool Lake and then north, up the steep slope until you reach Stonetalon Peak.

There awaits Keeper Albagorm. Heed his bidding, <race>.

The journey will be perilous.

The opening of the tunnel to stone tallon is 43,71 of Ashenvale- a spot called 'The Talondeep Path'. Only a few lvl 22 bears in the area.
Once through the tunnel you drop out at Windshear Crag (78,43 of Stonetalon Mountains). Your quest objective is 37,8 of Stonetalon Mountains. To get there you must travel south to 60,71 (though a good number of lvl 19 & 20 mobs) before turning north. Can pick up another quest ('Super Reaper 6000) at 59,62.
If you have the 'On guard in Stonetalon' quest Kaela is 60,67 (after turning north) on the cliff. Once you get to 'Keeper Albagorm' make sure you get the flight path.

I'm not sure why so many people say they had a hard time finding the tunnel b/c there is a lighted path leading to it.

From the road through Ashenvale heading east: after passing through Astranaar you will see small ruins on the south side of the road just before you reach a tower called Rayne's Retreat. The path is across the road (or south). Look for two lanterns close together slightly off the main road, then the path goes down a little hill (watch out at the bottom of the hill for some level 23ish Furbolgs, but easy to avoid just keep running through toward the lanterns). The path runs along the west side of Mystral Lake, you can look for the lake on your map. Silverwing Retreat is on the lake with a few trainers and suppliers & a quest. From the lake retreat follow the path west toward the mountains. There are a few lvl 21 or 22 ashenvale bears blocking the way that you will might have to kill. Entrance to tunnel is at 43,71 in Ashenvale.

Once through the tunnel, make your way South through Windshear Craig. You will first have to make it through some spiders. Just take it slow to avoid aggro, or just keep running. Then you have to cross through the Venture Lumber Co. These guys should be more your level and pretty easy to make it through. Then you will find some more spiders, and finally the road. From here you should see a sign leading you back North up the road straight to Stonetalon Peak. Stonetalon Peak is at the end of the road as far North as you can go, it's a long walk 37,8. Don't forget to get the flightpath.

p.s. if you want to be lazy & avoid the mobs, just die and resurect at the graveyard, but you might miss picking up a quest. The graveyard is on the road and it's an easy run up to the Peak from there.

This quest was relatively easy to solo with my lvl 18 NE Druid. From Astranaar, travel south East to the Talondeep Path (Ashenvale 42,72). Watch out for the lvl 22 bears around that area! There are no mobs inside the pass however. Once you reach the other side, you need to travel to Stonetalon Peak, and Keeper Albagorm is at Stonetalon Mountains 37,8. Just after you get through the Talondeep Path, you have to go through an area with tonnes of lvl 19-21 mobs. They are close together, so difficult to pick them off one at a time. If you get surrounded like I did, try to run, but if you die just res at the graveyard (which is past all the nasty spiders) and continue on your merry way. Res sickness shouldn't be a problem, because the rest of the journey is beast-free if u stick to the path.

Look, the quest name is "Journey to Stonetalon PEAK" not Mountains! Therefore, the majority of coors given here for the keeper are bull#$%^ coords because they are not even at the PEAK. The Correct Coords are 37,8 standing right on top of him. In front of the moonwell. If he is not there then a horde probably killed him because he can be killed without aggroing others.

The cave by the lake is easy to find, the quest states the location clearly.

'To the south, not far from Mystral Lake, there lies a tunnel named The Talondeep Path.'

This is exactly where it is.

Once you get there, you have to make your way through the logging camp and all the spiders.&nbsp I used the Cat Form and Prowl to get by them.&nbsp THere were just too many in close proximity to try and battle them myself.

Once thru the camp, just follow the main path south and then north, you cannot miss it.&nbsp Then you will see the signs for Stonetalon Peak.

The location of Keeper Albagorm is 37,8.

this quest drove me nuts because the coordinates did not make any sence.&nbsp This girl is indeed at 59,66 BUT it is in the Stonetalon Mountains - No one specified that, so go through that little cave that is south of astranar and follow the road :)

Ugg. I must have died four times looking for the cave to WEST of the Ruins of Stardust. Its EAST as in ---> that way.

<bonks Chironua atop his dirrectionally challenged head>

If you don't yet have your Ashenvale map filled in like me, its easy to mistake the lake everyone is talking about for the Stardust one. Mystral Lake is South East of Astranaar town. The cave is just to the west of Mystral lake.

This quest was a complete pain.
Firs the walk is a LONG LONG way away from where it's picked up.&nbsp The description of the location within the quest is very deceiving.&nbsp It sounds as if as soon as you come out of the cave that you are there.&nbsp Not so.&nbsp It's a long walk and as far as I can tell the only point is to get you the transportation location.

Sheesh....&nbsp THIS took me over an hour just walk it.&nbsp ugh....

Oh, yeah and the coordinates are correct 39,8.&nbsp That's '8' not '80' which is another reason why I was confused.&nbsp I kept looking for '80'.

I had nothing on my map, so couldn't find Mystral Lake. Head south from Astranaar. When you reach The Ruins of Stardust ---> go east until you reach the lake. Just WEST of the lake where the mountain begins, you'll find The Talondeep path at 42.71. It's a big opening, you can't miss it once you're there.

In the quest there is the clue when you are through the cave: go southwest beyond the lake. I walked there and died several times for nothing. You must go mainly south and a little west. You do not want to go to the lake but must cross the river that comes from the lake. There is a clear pass through the mountens and there you will find a clear path. follow that all the way north. The path will end with some trees on the road. You must go on and keep to the left. Look at your map and it will be clear.
Use your stealthform often when you are lvl 20/21 or lower because the beast can be too strong or there are to many. The spidereggs look nice but there will come two little spiders who call for help from the big ones.

The mobs in Stonetalon after you leave the tunnel seem to be harder than the ones you meet enroute.

The quest description needs some work - I spent a while wandering around the initial valley looking for a "steep path" north, (i.e. up a mountain), which there are many but they all eventually lead nowhere.

When you leave the tunnel, you really need to head southwest a WAYS until you find a road, then follow that road Northwest. You won't be heading north, you'll be heading north west. It's not even a steep slope. The hardest part of this quest is avoiding the goblins and spiders while you're heading SW towards the road.

I am curious about how do you know the coordinates on the world map in the game. (E.g. map 58.67. Is there a key or function in the game that will allow me to see the coordinates in the game?

hi all
im stood next to the keeper albagorm as i type, and he is located at 37.8 not 58.67!.

This coordinate reference is in relation to the map you get AFTER you come through the tunnel from astrannar.

Head my warning, or end up walking for ages following the wrong coordinates!

:)

In answer to the other question. to get coordinates on your map, you need to download the add-on to enable them..

Type CTmod into google, download and install... many nice addons in that pack

I agree, I'm lvl 22 Hunter, went on my own, died 3 times. Getting to tunnel was the easy part. When you get out "Windshear Crag" is full of lvl 20-24 humiods and beasts. I used my hunter "track humaniods" ability to avoid most of the mobs but it was still a pain in the back side. The mods are ranged with concussion so if you get hit your screwed (which you will do a fair bit).

Recommend going in group of no less than 3, Lvl 18+ or solo at lvl 25+.

Soloed it as a LV 20 Druid, turned into Cat Form and prowled around the larger groups.
Finding the peak is an absolute pain if you follow the quest's instructions. The peak is to the VERY North, way past Mirkfallon lake. I was looking down South, never expected it to be all the way up there.

I knew some of the area due to my Horde Character, but it had been a long while since i been thru these spots. So Trying to avoid aggro and make it ..was most difficult. I know that I'm probably being really stupid but.......... I just can't find Stonetalon Peak! I've followed the helpful road signs to the Peak, turned left just before Mirkfallon Lake and I've found Stonetalon Mountains, but I just can't find Stonetalon Peak. Please can someone tell me where I'm going wrong, because if I don't find Keeper Albagorm soon I may go mad. And the prospect of insanely charging into Sun Rock Retreat isn't that appealing!

Don't bother, I've found it. The moral is if you can't find somewhere and you've looked everywhere, then look further afield! Having now travelled past Mirkfallon Lake and them some I've discovered Stonetalon Peak. The quest directions really don't do justice to the distance!

this mission is pretty hard to do at 18, and now that we are over a week into the game, there are lots of horde all over the place making it pretty tough to do unless you have a decent group to defend a possible ganking. i would wait until you're lvl 20 and get some other people together to help.

Well I just finished this quest, and am quite surprised that it's rated at 18 level. I was very lucky that I had someone show me the way to the tunnel, even though I had the coordinates, it was a bit tricky to find my way around and through the MOBS. When you are in Ashenvale, I recommend traveling north and around rather than south.

My problem was once you get out of the tunnel, you are in a state of confusion because you don't really know where to go. 'There is no defined path or direction'. I would suggest you follow xgecko's advice and head SW right through the lower level MOBS. I know most people try to find a way around the MOBS but it is nearly impossible on this one. You have to kind of go right through the little mining camp...but definitely do that because the MOBS there are only around level 18 and you can fight them off one by one. Once you cross the river, continue to travel SW until you run into the road. After you cross the river as well, you go through a small area of 'a lot' of spiders! If you have some good armor on you, and are at least a 20, what I would say is just do what I did and barrel your way through. Run right through the middle of them. They will chase you and you will take hits, but I made it all the way through with 50% of my health still remaining! Just run and don't stop! After you get through the spiders...the road won't be far.

Good luck. This was a rough one...but can be done if you're patient!
