Reclaiming the Charred Vale

Travel to Falfindel Waywarder on the border of Thousand Needles and Feralas.

Description

The Bloodfuries have been subdued. But they will regroup soon enough if action is not taken.

Far south of the Barrens lies a land known as Thousand Needles. If you travel west in Thousand Needles until you reach the lush forest's edge of Feralas, you will find a druid named Falfindel Waywarder.

This great and wise druid is capable of calling forth great forest spirits which can aid in the reclamation of the Charred Vale.

Send word of our need! Seek him out at once!

there are a couple of ways to get this one done if you are in your 20s

the safest way is to get to Astranaar in Ashenvale, go east along the road until it forks straight south (to The Barrens) - when you get near the horde's defensive wall, do not go through the western opening - it is guarded.&nbsp Instead, look to the eastern end of the wall - there is a gaping hole in their defenses, meant specifically for alliance to get through for things like this quest.&nbsp You can then run south through the Barrens to the great lift - avoiding the level 30 guard and 25 guard can be challenging, but if you watch how the lifts run, you can time it so that you run past the 2 guards and make it onto an approaching lift - you just have to survive a couple of hits and then it lowers and you're alright.&nbsp head west through thousand needles - but be careful, mobs are everywhere.&nbsp on the western edge of 1k needles is thalanaar, where Waywarder resides.

you can also go to Thereamore from Menethil, and try to get through Dustwallow Marsh (the only road out of town will run into the southern barrens eventually), but this is somewhat dangerous as 35 and above crocs and spiders will jump you along the way - but only a couple of times.&nbsp again, you must survive a couple of hits and you can make it.&nbsp same strategy for the great lift.

if you are in your 20s, I would not recommend going through Desolace, and then Feralas.&nbsp it is more of an agro-fest than the Marsh is.&nbsp All of the above will vary given some classes stealth abilities etc (this makes the journey much more assured, if not slower)

Lvl 25 Night Elf Rogue and Lvl 26 Night Elf Hunter with a good pet

From Stonetalon Mountains we entered the Barrens (for those entering the Barrens for the first time, the main path from Stonetalon into the Barrens is guarded, but there is an alternate way in if you turn left off the path before reaching the guards).&nbsp Once in the Barrens we made our way to the southernmost part...the Great Lift.

My hunter companion "found" the same way that Arky00 suggested in his post.&nbsp There were two guards (lvls 25 and 30 I think).&nbsp One guard was covering the lift and the other was covering the clifftop to the right of the lift.&nbsp No guard on the left, so we decided to look down and see what we would run into if we could kill the guards.&nbsp After a small mistep, we found that you can indeed fall to the bottom, die, and rez within say 30 yards.&nbsp No need to fight when the rez is that close and "painless" and the splat is fun anyway!

Once at the bottom (Thousand Needles area), we made our way to the center of the canyon and followed this west with little harrassment to Feralas.&nbsp DO NOT GO INTO FERALAS if you are of similar levels.&nbsp We did, we died, and we almost died after rezzing when we were running out.&nbsp Several lvl ? waiting for snacks like us in the forest.&nbsp Instead, at the edge of the forest, turn south and follow the forest edge until you reach a night elf encampment.&nbsp This is your destination.

There is a flight path here, but at this point I only saw it connected to Theramore Isle, not Auberdine, Stonetalon or Astranaar which I had the paths for.&nbsp Don't know if there is a good way out for similar leveled characters, so I'd suggest getting the Theramore Isle flight path by taking a boat from Menethil Harbor (I think) or hearthstone it.&nbsp You might be able to go back and use the lift...good luck with the guards at the top.&nbsp Seemed like an odd place for a night elf encampment.

BTW, if you take the flight option and then fly back from Theramore Isle to Auberdine, have a book handy...2nd leg is a 10 min flight!

Hope this helps somebody!

8,19 on the Thousand Needles map
90,47 on the Feralas map
34,91 on The Barrens map

From the bottom of the Great Lift, folow the road south intil you see the sings to Feralas. Take that road west (go to the right). This will help you pass by some lvl 27+ mobs (if need be). After a short trek you will come to another sign post pointing you to Thalanar, which is in plain sight (to your left). Falfidel is just inside Thalanar. There is also a flight point there.

BEFORE YOU START, if you haven't already visited the Gryphon Master at Theramore Harbor then make sure you take the boat from Menethil Harbor that goes to Theramore. At Theramore, go visit the Gryphon Master to "discover" the flight path. You'll need this to get home from this quest.

As you enter the Thousand Needles, there are a pair of elevators that will take you down into the canyon floor. There are guards. I used my Druid's Cat Form to sneak past them -- though they are about level 30 and I could have taken them (I was level 29 when I did this).

Once you get into Thousand Needles, most mobs are in the mid-upper 20's. Follow the path to the west to get to the forest.

When you arrive at the border of the forest, don't continue (the mobs inside were checking as level "?" for my lvl 29 player -- so you don't want to mess with them. Instead, turn south and just follow the border of the forest. You'll see a moonwell. This is your destination.

There's a Hyppogryph Master located at the moonwell. Talk to him to "discover" that flight path and you'll be able to fly to Theramore.

Its much more easy to go through the breach in the Ashenvale-Barrens norder and just walk all the way south. The only thing you need to care about is to pass the Crossroads.

And... the spirits do not attack...

Gives good Exp (2200 at my Lvl 26). Then you can get a new flight path to Ferals, but other than that the quest has no purpose.

It just ends abruptly and the NPCs there do not give additional quests.

Before going, you might want to pick up the "highperch venon" quest in Theramore at the Inn. The quest area is on your way to Ferals. These are all lvl 29+.

When you come to the lift, you will see a small wall on the right (east) go behind that wall to avoid the guards. This will get you a little closer to the lift and make timing it a bit easier.

The best way is from Theramore Isle to the South Barrens. I went left of the Great Lift, there's a little "curtain" thingy and jumped from there. I found a hill to land on, which gave me about a 1/4 of my health and then I bandaged myself to full health and jumped the rest of the way down. I'm not saying you have to do it this way, it's an option that worked for me. I preferred it to dying. Just look first and find a spot to land on, you don't have to jump blindly.

I dont know if your goin to like this idea but here goes.

You can take the boat from booty bay to Ratchet then you walk to Felaras because from Ratchet to Felaras is closer from walking from Stonetalon to Felaras. But you must have discovered the Booty bay flight path otherwise you will be walking and you wont like the idea. Good luck

Do the spirits actually go kick ass in the vale or are you just meant to pretend they do? It seems unlikely but some quests do seem to trigger events. Never saw the result of someone else completing this while I was in the Vale. I'm guessing this one gets finished even less than Stitches though.

Another fun way to get to Thousand Needles (Alliance) is to get to Ratchet, run south to the Great Lift and just run off the edge because there are Horde guards. You die of course, but the graveyard is right there, so you rez and go about your business. NOTE: this is only if you are lower than level 30, because the Horde Guards at the lift are level 30, so no problem to kill them and take the lift down.

I have been reading through most of the posts on how to get into Stone Talon.&nbsp Perhaps the easiest way, but it is a long run, especially if you are only around lvl 20 and on your&nbsp own is to go to Auberdine in Darkshore, run south into Ashenvale.&nbsp Follow the road all the way past Astranaar.&nbsp Head out to the Silverwing Refuge and run west and south out around Mystral Lake.&nbsp You will find the Talondeep Path at approximately 42,73.&nbsp There are no mobs in or around the entrance of the path so just run through.&nbsp This will bring you out to Windshear Crag.
While not the quickest way, it is my favorite, and best of all practically no chance of dying on the way!

I have traveled to a Thousand Needles and came across a road block. On one side was 3 29 elites and the other side the elites just had a skull for the level. Being only 22 I decided to leave them be. At the lift was a 25 mob and a lvl 30mob normally not a big deal but they both add if you try to take the other single. Anyone on the Alliance side found a way to get to Thousand Needles safely?

The correct coords are 89,46 (Cosmos). Only It took me a while to get there and to see the right thottbot location.

What you need to do is fly/ship to Theramore Isle. Just walk out there and follow the path (a long way) until you see The Barrens on the roadsigns.
Go there. It took me a while and I died a few times (lvl 26).
Use a pet as distraction. Let him attack and run as hell. Revive him, or just summon him and do this until you are at the barrens :)
Most of the creatures are skulls, don't be afraid, you can get there.

When you are in the barrens walk in the direction of Thousand Needles. You will see a road after a moment, just follow it. The creatures that are walking here are lvl 23. Follow the road until you are at the great elevator.

When you can't handle the guards standing there just jump of the cliff.. You will die but the graveyard is down there next to the elevators.
Now just walk to the thottbot location

i no longer see any boats come in to Menethil . . . and at Auberdine, you have no choce but to go to Menethil. 8/

I found it easy by starting in Ashenvale, and taking the road south to the Barrens. Before reaching the gate head east and look for a smoking hole in the fence, it is not guarded. Then follow the road, Gold Road, south to Thousand Needles. The Barrens is lvl 10 - 25, but there are some skulls. Stay near the road, but avoid The Crossroads and any other Horde post you come across. To enter Thousand Needles, you will need to take the great lift down. It is guarded by a lvl 29 & a lvl 30. I killed them, but you could just run by onto the lift as they will not follow you. At the bottom follow the road south a short way to a crossroad. Then follow the signs west toward Feralas. You can easily avoid the Horde posts near the road and the meandering beasts. When you reach the forest's edge called Lower Wilds turn south and follow the border a short distance. You will soon see a Moonwell & a Hippogryph FP, this is where you will find Falfindel Waywarder. The coords are when standing in the Thousand Needles 8,17 and jump to 89,46 when you cross into Faralas. The only encounters I had the whole run were with the Lift guards.

If you had previously found the flight path in Ratchet, you could possibly try taking the road from there West to Gold Road and then turn south. I have not tried this, and no one else suggested it, so i don't know if it is safe.

Sixolon had it right:

If both guards are present, go to the west against the rocks and go to the back side of the little wall. Wait until the near lift comes up and then make a run for it. The Lvl 30 guard does not jump on the Lift.

I too received 2200 for this quest.

Be advised that the hyenas at the bottom are all 26+ and aggro as a pack.
