Reclaiming the Charred Vale

Keeper Albagorm on Stonetalon Peak wants you to slay 7 Bloodfury Harpies, 7 Bloodfury Ambushers, 7 Bloodfury Slayers and 7 Bloodfury Roguefeathers.
  •
Bloodfury Harpy slain (7)
  •
Bloodfury Ambusher slain (7)
  •
Bloodfury Slayer slain (7)
  •
Bloodfury Roguefeather slain (7)

Description

As a protector of the forest spirits you can undoubtedly guess why I am alarmed.

You have traveled through these mountains to reach this peak. Surely you have seen the travesty which has befallen the land. Greed has led to the destruction of these sacred hills.

The Charred Vale to the south was set afire by the greedy mechanized army of industrialists. Worse yet, the Bloodfuries that have encroached on the land refuse us passage in to begin regrowth.

Drive the wretched harpies out, <name>!

I found the ambushers hard to find in particular. Finally I found some around (30, 57). This is the in north west of the Charred Vale. There is a hill to stand on, with a good overview point. There aren't plenty so you will have to wait for resets. Another useful remark may be that Harpys and Ambushers are mainly found in the north end of the valley while Slayers and Roguefeathers are found more to the south. Stick to the edges so your back is safe. This quest is good to combine with the following other quests: Pridewings of Stonetalon, Retrieval for Mauren, Enraged Spirits, Wounded Ancients.

Found this very easy as a 27 druid.&nbsp Just pull one at a time and you should be fine.&nbsp

Quest begins and ends at 36,8

Most of the mobs can me found around 32,68

I have now done this with three characters and I'm done. The best thing that could be said for it is that it is marginally challenging at this level. What it is mostly is very annoying. If you are a cloth armor wearer, forget it. It's not that all the trash mobs are so tough or even that there are so many of them it's just that almost everything you kill drops...nothing.

Except for the Harpies, the Roguefeathers and their sisters. They drop cloth, some silver and...not much else. Oh, some of the fire elementals and basilisks drop coal. Shouldn't forget that. Very valuable these days. Don't forget the old grey basilisk scale. Worth at least 3 copper apiece.

Mages - you will be thrilled to know that Mana Shield doesn't work against Storm Witches, who throw some kind of lightning at you, and yes of course, some of those are phantom adds, so plan on dying at least twice.

I guess there are some redeeming virtues here and in three tries I haven't found any, so I am just too stupid for words. Coming back the third time was really stupid.

But you can avoid making the mistake I made. Give this one a pass.

I've been all over the vale, and I haven't found any bloodfury roguefeathers.&nbsp I've killed all I need of all the rest, but the roguefeathers are nowhere to be found.&nbsp Where are these guys at?&nbsp Since "rogue" is right there in the name, I figure they are stealthed somehow, at least sometime.&nbsp But I've been up and down the Charred Vale now, and haven't seen any sign of one.&nbsp Give me some clue here.

I don't really think any grind is a waste. The idea behind it isn't just to get loot or be entertaining. Most times you grind to get XP. period. It may be tedious, but, it levels you up. That's why it's a grind.

You can do (at least) 4 q's at once there (Alliance). 3 you get in Stonetalon Mountains and 1 in stormwind (basilisks). If you don't like/aren't build for pvp, I'd suggest you do them all at once: time-efficiënt and you don't have to go there anymore. Doing the q's with a disc priest solo with horde groups running around, a great mob density and the GY miles away isn't exactly a piece of cake :P If you like PVP, this place is heaven for horde and alliance. If you don't want risking a long walk from the GY, bring some friends along.

These are harpy-types found in the Charred Vale. They tend to be found in clusters. They range up to level 27, and aren't too hard to pull singly -- just wait till one wanders out a bit and pull it.

Harpies, Ambushers and Roguefeathers were all pretty numerous. Slayers were tougher to find, and required a little patience waiting for respawns.

All of these mob types are melee. There are a couple other mobe types (Storm Witch, Windcaller) which are casters, are numerous, and which don't help with your quest kills at all.

Bloodfury slayers AND Bloodfury Roguefeather are located @
27,67

It's not too bad to get to, run the West mountainside until you reach the Coodinates.

The Mobs are 23-26 (occaisional 27-28)
Plentiful mines,

Truesilver , Mithril deposits, everywhere. - little hard to get to but if you're a miner, it pays off in gains.

died about 15 times on this quest from all the annoying aggro because when your low on health and you need to run, you just run right into another bloody harpy. those slayers are always right in the middle of the pack so they were the hardest to get.

Did as a party. Was an easy one but i guess it isn't able solo, too many mobs moving around there and the hordies as well. The roguefeather are located in the south.

location is 32,68 as everyone stated above. walk down the path towards Milkfallon Lake and veer towards the right and you will see a path heading west.&nbsp this path will lead to the charred vale.

harpies will be easy to find since you will see them individually one the path toward the charred vale. ambushers will be next.&nbsp you will see slayers towards the southwest. roguefeathers, for me, were the hardest to find because they are surrounded by storm witches which brings down a lightening storm. 1 on 1 they are not a problem but like everyone says they are close together and may aggro others.&nbsp I'm a 26 night elf druid.&nbsp I stealth to find the roguefeathers&nbsp but you can do it if you run around the rim of the basin.&nbsp If you have any pull weapons/cast use that to lure them to a safe location.&nbsp Again easy monsters but just tedious.

Just like the horde guy said about alliance ganking him, it goes both ways. This quest just is not worth it if you're going solo. It's not that the harpies are tough or anything, but the area is just packed with parties willing to gank anything that moves. I guess what can you expect for 20-something people stepping into contested for the first time though :)

The Bloodfury Harpies are mainly in the entrance canyon to Charred Vale (approx 37,43 to 37,53) These are mostly level 23

Ambushers are scarce - I found them along the east side of Charred Vale as well as the northwest corner (approx 35,60 to 35,70 and around 31,63) though I suspect this varies from spawn to spawn. Mostly level 24-25 I think...

Slayers and Roguefeathers seemed to be mainly along the south edge of Charred Vale (approx 28,72 to 34,72) Mostly level 26-27...

I basically went around in a big perimeter circle of Charred Vale and was able to eventually get them all...

I would do this quest with Enraged Spirits (fire elementals), Retrieval for Mauren (basilisks),and Wounded Ancients (corroded shrapnel)

I am a level 29 Dwarf Paladin - not too much trouble solo but only 2 at a time at most...

Just make sure you don't wander too far S or into the middle of them. Too far S will put some 27-28 Basilisks at your back while you're fighting and wandering into the middle is a quick way to die.

I'm level 25 and kill the 7 ambusher's and 7 harpy's a level or two ago, but haven't been able to locate the slayers or roguefeather's yet.
Can't get south enough in the vale yet for some reason, not sure if it's the mobs ganking me or the horde being pricks, lol.

Just solo it with Warlock 26

They should rename this quest WOW Marathon, you just keep running back an forth. At least they gave us some Griffons get out of there!

Also, I agree with Kierun's note below. Keep to the edge of the vale, the middle is absolutely deadly with everything that is walking around. Also be careful, there is a Level 28 Elite Harpy in there.

Why does the quest list Harpy, Ambusher, Slayer, and Roguefeather, but the 'related mobs' above say Harpy, Ambusher, Slayer, and "Ripper"?

This quest is a big pain.

The Harpies group together and are quite easy to pull together, plus beasts and elementals wander around this whole area that is very tight and very small.

Watch your back with this one, it is easy to pull other mobs while killing harpies.

NOTE: If you die, take the shortcut through the Horde town to come back into the area, much easier then going all the way up and back down.

I solo'd this at level 23... one of the things that I found useful were the mounds of rock in the center of the area... I would climb on top of the mounds, and then draw the mobs to me one at a time... by standing on top of the mounds, I seemed to be able to register better hits, and didn't have to worry about the basalisks that roam the area.

The Slayers are in short supply, and congregate near the East end of the area - they fly in the midst of the Roguefeathers, and are the same color as the harpies.

It did take a while to nail down all of the slayers, but it paid off... I received 2200 for the quest.

Watch out for the 26 Elite Harpy near the middle. She's light blue and surrounded by her own circle of guards.
