Of all the easy quests I've seen in Thott with 10,000 comments on how to do it...taking longer to read the comments than do the quest...

This was a tough solo for my 47 NE Druid.

First you have to keep killing mobs in the area until you get the mouthpiece for the horn...which summons the dude.&nbsp Since I had to do this 3 times (explain below), I know this can take between 2 and 20 kills (or more).

You blow the horn and a pair of guards show up and climb the ramp to the horn.&nbsp No problem...if you can't handle those two, you might as well forget the rest.

Next group is two guards with a healer.&nbsp Obviously, getting rid of the healer is a priority - sheep him or whatever.&nbsp I don't have sheep, so I rooted 1 guard and killed the healer.&nbsp Easy, still.

Final group is 2 guards, a healer, and the boss. (Level 42 Elite).&nbsp This is why I had to find the mouthpiece to the horn 3 times...if you fail to kill da boss before the normal "mob respawn time" expires, he disappears and you have to find the mouthpiece all over again.&nbsp I.E. if your plan is to kamikaze a mob and return...well, you prolly won't have time.

I did it this way, solo.&nbsp Starfire the healer...immediately root the boss.&nbsp Moonfire the healer into oblivion.&nbsp Run like hell.&nbsp Lose aggro.&nbsp Rinse and repeat until it's just you and the boss.

He hit me for 200-300 a shot fairly quickly.&nbsp I popped in and out of cat form and had no real problem once it was 1-on-1...getting to 1-on-1, though, was the "fun" part.

Good luck.

The horn is located at the coordinates 29,53, up a long ramp from the north end of the Centaur's camp.

In order to blow it you need to get the mouthpiece which has a very low drop rate (about 1%), so expect to be killing Centaur's for quite a long time.

Once the horn has been blown you will face 3 waves of enemies. The first attack is two Maraudine Khan Guard's. The second attack is two more Khan Guard's along with a Maraudine Khan Advisor who will heal the other two if you don't kill her first. The final attack will be Khan Hratha who is an elite with two Khan Guard's and an Advisor.

Without outleveling the quest you'll have a hard time doing this one solo if you are lacking crowd control. It's probably best to invite someone else along, since getting the mouthpiece drop is so hard and everyone gets the quest item off the kill.

I was looking at the Khans' names and trying to figure out Blizzard's bizarre yet amusing jokes.

I got stuck on this one ... and then I realized: If "Khan Shaka" is "Chaka Khan," and "Khan Jehn" is "Gen Con" ...

... Then this one, "Khan Hratha," must be a play on "Wrath Of Khan" (prounced "Wrath o' Khan").

I completed this quest solo as a level 44 priest. The first two waves were easy: I simply killed the first wave incredibly fast and had a quick time interval to drink before the second wave spawned. When the second wave came, I nuked the healer while the other two were feared. The last wave I simply tab-mind soothed all the mobs, and then I mindcontrolled Khan Hratha. As you can imagine, killing the 3 ads was easy using him: he has a cleave ability that deals massive damage. After the three ads were dead, he was at about 50% and I killed him easily. Good luck!

The key here is the waves of attackers.

Blow the horn, run back down the ramp a ways and set trap.

Watch the 2 running up, Mark the first one and send pet.&nbsp Kill him and his buddy.

2nd wave, you can do one of two things:

1) On the platform before the top of the platform with the horn, go ove on the outside of the spear-wall as far off the path without falling (near mountain side) and wait.&nbsp Let the wave of 3 go past you up to the top while you regen mana, health and pethealth.

2)&nbsp Attack the 3 as they come up (same as first wave) making sure to kill the healer first.&nbsp Kill another and last (if you can).&nbsp If your pet is going to die or you get aggro, FD and let them run up to the top.&nbsp Then get mana, health, revive pet and finish them off.

3rd wave, I suggest you get the hell out of the way (near spear wall) and let them all go to the top.

Kill healer, let pet die, FD and revive, etc.

Kill guard, let pet die, FD and revive, etc. X2

Set traps, kill boss dude.

Only problem with this is you have to do it pretty quickly, because there is a despawn time.&nbsp So make sure you have plenty of bandages so you can bandage yourself and your pet rather than using mana.

The rewards kinda blow for a hunter, but the XP is nice and it feels good to solo this.&nbsp I used a similar strategy to solo him with my rogue a while ago, substituting vanish for FD, but the above rogue strategy is nice.

Good luck!

Nice challenge for a lone rogue, but doable: I died once only :-)

As you go up the ramp, make sure you kill the mobs guarding it (so if you need to be rezzed, they won't bother you).

First 2 waves are easy: blow the horn, stealth yourself, sap one of the centaurs and deal with the others.

For the last wave, it's the same thing (sap Khan Hratha) and fight the others: the only problem is that when Khan wakes up, you're dead... he has some kind of big damage that does around 600 hp and hurts... So I died once (but had killed 2 centaurs before), and when I rezzed, it was only Khan and 1 centaur left, so it was ok.

Left this quest to fester in my log until I was a lvl 47 (paladin) and decided to clean my log out.

I soloed it on the account of Desolace being... desolated. Shocker. Figured with shields and all the heals I could pop, I'd be okay.

1st wave of 2 melee with a 2H was easy.

2nd wave of 2 melee + caster (2H), okay. I went for the caster first, and saved my mana for heals.

3rd wave of caster + 2 melee + Khan = death. (1H + spiked shield) I managed to kill the caster, but stupidly thought I could heal myself without resorting to Divine Shield.

Res'ed at the horn, and fought them near the horn. 1 potion, 1 bandage, and many heals later, I emerged victorious.

If you die and go back, make sure you fight close to the horn. Otherwise, you'll have to deal with respawns.

Personally, I had to kill 20+ centaurs to get a mouthpiece. Then the first centaur I killed on my way back out dropped it. God, that sucked.

When I did this recently the first wave of centaurs came up the hill as expected. Then the second group spawned below us and just sat there while we waited for them. Meanwhile some Alliance came by, killed them, and stole Hratha, leading to a bunch of /rudes and a long look to get the mouthpiece again.

Eventually, we got the mouthpiece, blew the horn, the first wave came up, the second wave sat there, and after we'd killed them Hratha spawned and immediately charged without giving us time to regroup. I survived (a level 58 warlock can kill ordinary Maraudine centaurs without even looking at them), but the other party member (level 42 or so hunter) didn't. After another long search for the horn, we both survived the third try, which was still bugged.

As expected, we found four more mouthpieces before getting out of the area.

This quest officially sucks. Do the leadins for whichever faction they're good xp and good grinding. Don't even take this to drop it later unless you're already in a group. Finding a group is near-impossible, and soloing it is even worse. And for squat in terms of rewards.

Solo'd as a 41 Hunter, BM Specced.
I enjoy a good challenge :D

After you've dealt with the first two waves, take out the guards protecting Khan Hratha, one by one.

Meaning, after you've taken out one of them, your pet and perhaps yourself will be at low health, so use Feign Death, raise your pet, rinse and repeat until all the guards are dead.

Then go ahead and engage Khan Hratha, initiate Beastial Wrath ASAP and watch his health drop to about 30% ish, by then your pet would of died and just kite him with wingclip / concussive shot, keep serpent sting on him and get an arcane off every time you turn around (going back and forth from where the horn is to the bottom steps), If you can get a Mult-Shot in there too, Sometimes you'll be able to but other times you won't.

Also use your freezing traps when taking out his guards, this will always buy you some time specially if it gets Khan Hratha himself.

I'm going to recommend that you loot Khan Hratha as soon as you kill him, even if you aren't done killing the other mobs yet. Because I just did this quest and I didn't loot him right away, and he disappeared (as well as many of the other mobs) before I could loot him for the quest item. So I had to go through the whole process of killing a bunch of centaurs and finding the mouthpiece again. So be prepared!

The last wave, I killed the healer and one of his guards, bubbled and healed up a bit... killed the other guard... started meleeing him. Had to use a Mana Potion. Stunned him... Holy Light... start again... did a Blessing of Protection after my recently bubbled debuff was gone and first aided up a bit... stunned him again and meleed him down. I buffed up with the clamette surprise and used the aquamarine pendant of the warrior too. Primscale hauberk and dragonscale gauntlets the toons not a lightweight. Just soloed it Lvl 41 not too difficult for a shadow priest.

The first 2 waves aren't hard wipe those out then med up as much as u can b4 khan hratha and his lackies get there.&nbsp Kill the priest first then jump off the cliff (off the east side as not to aggro any of the mobs down there)&nbsp halfway down the cliff featherfall. (If you featherfall too soon hratha or his lackies might hit you and you'll fall to a terrible death).&nbsp (If you feel you might aggro on your way down remember that you have sooth mind a wonderful ability)

If you have to rekill the mobs on the way back up that's no problem.&nbsp Because you will likely want to use fear and you don't want to pull those guys.

Secondly... MC one of the weaker mobs and let hratha kill him.&nbsp Now you are down to 2 mobs.&nbsp Kill the second weaker mob and then jump off the east side again then halfway down feather fall.&nbsp Now it's just you and Hratha.&nbsp He's nothing without his counterparts.

Solo'd as 42 lock with VW...

First you need the mouthpiece which drops off any of the centaurs on ur way into the area.. (just past kodo graveyard for those without coords)

After you get that head up the tunnel at the northwester most part of the area up the long ramp...the horn is located there.

Three waves will occur without having to blow horn again:

1st wave: 2 centaurs
2nd wave:2 centaurs
3rd wave: 2 centaurs and boss centaur...

as of 2.3 there are no elites, and i found this quest quite easy, just make sure u heal / gather mana right after waves because the next wave will be there within 30 seconds.

Also drops dissappear really quick, so if I were you i would kill the boss last, and kill the healing advisor first.

Hope this helps

Upon turn in: 6000 xp and a choice between leather belt or cloth back armor

Rather difficult to solo due to the last wave. It contains a healer/caster, 2 melee guards (they can kick spell casting), and the 42 elite khan. The guards are 39-40 (similar to trash below). I advise CC'ing the elite and killing the guards first.

Khan has a fair amount of health so healing or good CC is necessary. You can die and run back multiple times before he despawns. One option is to kill 1-2 guards, die, kill 1-2, and leave only Khan left. Solo'd as 45 druid.

I didn't have any trouble with this quest sequence, but I won't brag about what level I solo'ed it at. Suffice it to say that it was grey for me. (I don't get to Desolace very often and couldn't decide which breed of half-horses to support.)

The mouthpiece dropped from a Maraudon SCout, which I killed on the way into the Valley, perhaps the third kill. Your mileage may vary. In fact, the worst part for me was finding the blasted Horn! Oh, sure, Uthek the Wise tells you it's "atop a high bluff in the Valley of Spears"... an area comprised almost exclusively of high bluffs. Methinks "wise" is an honorary title, passed down from inbred mother to daughter. Poor Richard, whose parents were not blood relatives, will be more helpful.

(1) Make your way to (30, 54) in the Valley of Spears. There's a platform atop which is a Maraudon of some sort, and often a chest.

(2) Now face due north. You'[ll see a hut, and a ramp beyomd it. Take this ramp. If you follow the spear wall you're on the right track. At (29, 50) it will turn into a bridge, which you should take.

(3) Blow. You know how to blow a horn, don't you? You just put your lips together and...

(4) Survive three waves.
A: Two level 39 fighters.
B: Two level 40 fighters, and a caster of similar level ("Advisor").
C: Two fighters, a level 39 and level 40. A level 40 caster. The Khan, who is I believe a level 42 Elite.

My own particular way was to put up various scroll- and crystal-based protections, drink a Trtoll's Blood potion and wait for it to allow use of potions again, and then I started the process. The Khan dropped a nice Symbolic Breastplate, L40 Plate which is desired by all the new Plate-wearers and wil sell for a pretty penny on the AH.

Funny thing: One of the half-horses dropped another mouthpiece! Since my buffs were still up, I figured "what the hey," and did it again. Similar results-- close to dying from the Khan's Executes, but lived to write this entry.

Tactics: The frist two waves are merely practice. Take out the Advisors, I'd say. For the third wave, wallop the Advisor and then concentrate on the Khan. He's dangerous even for a level 50 Warrior. I did use a Greater Healing potion the second time through. Good luck!

I get the horn piece and look all around for the horn to apply it with.

I finally get it and of course cleared the path to the horn easilly since I'm a level 46 huntress with the best trained pet I could have.

So I'm thinking it won't be too hard. I mean I've done 85% of the game thus far solo. So the first and second wave are a breeze. But the level 42 Elite comes in with three body guards. I put all my focus onto him then my cat drops half way on him. I knew I wouldn't last and just dealt with it coming back to my corpse. I wipe out one guard that time before once again I'm dead.

So I try again, managed to wipe out the rest of the guards well and try to take Khan. I bring him down a little bit due to trying to lose the aggro to my pet. I think things will be okay since I still had a healing potion left. But right there a Maraudine Stormer spawns and wipes me out again. I'm so pissed by that point since I read that some other hunter 3 levels below me did this quest. I come back to my ill corpse and look around to see that Khan has gone. I tried not to freaking kill everything in sight while dumping the stupid quest, taking my time to my account here just to say that if you don't kill him fast enough with profiency then you're screwed.

Best of luck to everyone else.

P.S. I don't think it was 15 minutes before he despawned... Since traveling back to corpse only took a minute or so and died quick everytime. So I'd wage to around 10-15 minutes even.

neither chain is worth doing, but i'd highly recomend doing the gelkis. magram wants target dummy, which is hard to get inless you are or know an engineer, then it wants you to fight all way through gelkis cave to get khan. magram khan is right there, fight only few mobs to find his spawn and he has only 1 guard, gelkis has entire camp. but either way the final quest is a waste. you will be in the 50s before you have a hope of soloing it, and don't expect to get a group for it. if they put blues on rewards instead of greens that you can buy in AH, it might be worth the trouble.

Soloed as a 42 Hunter, 41 Pet (Wolf) whilst waiting for a guildie to come and help.

After the summoning, I simply killed the first two waves with my pet as a tank (22/11/0 talents), focusing on the healer when it appeared in the second wave. After the first wave, I bandaged my pet and myself, then set a Freezing Trap which caught one of the two warriors. The final wave was finished by killing the healer, Feigning Death and allowing my pet to die, then retreating and healing. Then, I just had my pet tank the warriors, put the Khan in a Freezing Trap, and focused fire on one of the warriors. FD'd to drop aggro off the Khan, killed the second warrior, then used my Gift of the Naaru on my pet and bandaged myself as she held aggro from the Khan. The rest was easy :)

Should be okay for two non-hunters to handle at 40-42, or anyone over 46 solo.
