Description

The torn skin smells rotten, and is remarkably pliable for something that appears to be dry and fragile.

As you unroll it, you can clearly see the red markings of some kind of language on one side. At the bottom of the skin is a very clear symbol that you guess is a signature of some kind.

Perhaps it is something Maurin could tell you more about?

As the item states, this quest requires Horde - Neutral and is as such not available for Alliance. Orb of Deception won't work.

This item has a very low drop rate (around 1,5-2%) and is dropped by all Burning Blade mobs around Thunder Axe Fortress (~54,26, upper middle part of the map) in Desolace.
There is no prequest and you do not need to be on any specific quest for the item to drop.
The quest is combinable with:
- [38] Hand of Iruxos, https://classicdb.ch/?quest=5381 (kill a summoned 37 Elite)
- [33] Sceptre of Light, https://classicdb.ch/?quest=5741 (get an item from a Seer in a tower)
- [33] The Burning of Spirits (followup), https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1435 (drain souls of any Burning Blade)

The quest has three followups. The two first ones are easy. The last one, [40] The Corrupter (https://classicdb.ch/?quest=1488), requires you to kill a 40 Elite and a normal 40 mob.

This dropped on about the 10th or 12th kill of the Orc warlocks around ThunderAxe, which you need to kill for the Infused Gem quest (Horde)

Go to Thunderaxe Fortress in the North of Desolace at about 56,30 and kill every burning blade you see. It's a low drop rate to get it so you might need to kill loads. Took me about 30 kills last time, but got it on my 2nd kill once.

Click on it to get the quest, then goto Ghostwalker post.

This is not a bug, the item is a random drop for both factions but it is a horde quest.
I have talked to a GM about it and he said it is a horde quest and impossible to complete as alliance.
He also said he would look into it and suggest to development to either make an alliance version of the quest or make the item not droppable to alliance.

There are a lot of "this item begins a quest" items that drop all over the world that only apply to one faction, this happens to be one of them.&nbsp You could classify this as a bug, but I wouldn't say it is.&nbsp Games are allowed to have dead ends in them, learn to deal with it or you can keep butting your head against the wall.

The guy you turn this quest in to is on Undercity rep and the guards at Ghostwalker Post are on Thunder Bluff rep.&nbsp No alliance can turn the quest in, even with an Orb of Deception.

Listen up everyone.. if you are aliance and wanna turn this Q in you need to have orb of deception... Get alot of money and by it at ah but..

The Reward is only 5700 exp.

So my advice dont do it

While I was killing and doing quests in ThunderAxe today, the item [Flayed Demon Skin] dropped. Not once.. but 5 times, in less than 15 minutes.

Pretty annoying as I'm an Alliance character..

I just spoke to a GM and he informed me that this quest is obtainable by Alliance, but we are unable to turn it in.&nbsp He told me to drop the quest.&nbsp fyi

The orb requires level 54 to use.&nbsp This quest won't give you diddly for xp at that point.&nbsp Just drop it, it's borked.

You can not, i repeat CAN NOT, complete this quest if you are alliance (with out the orb, and you need to be level 60 and the quest is only worth 5700 exp points). I have spoken with a GM, they said it's a problem that is know of with no ETA of when it will be fixed.

The quest drops all the time for alliance or horde. Get rid of it if your alliance.

You guys are fools.&nbsp The Orb of Deception does not work with NPCs.&nbsp You can't interact with NPCs with the orb.

Orb of Deception is for tricking players ONLY.&nbsp It does not allow interaction with enemy NPCs.

This item will drop for either Horde or Alliance and 'Item starts a quest' - meaning either faction can accept the first quest.

But ONLY horde can hand it in so why on earth does this drop for Alliance. I see this as a bug unless Blizzard say otherwise.

I wonder where you would report such a bug to them...

Spoke to a GM and he said he'd advise against trying to complete the quest as an Alliance character. Which I read as saying its Horde only but they meant for it to be both and he'll no doubt pass this onto who needs to know.

Hopefully it'll be fixed in next patch.

The item drops actually very frequently in Thunder Axe Fortress. It starts a multi-stage quest, in which all stages are named The Corrupter. As listed here, first you take it to Ghost Walker Post. Then you are sent to retrieve a scalp from a Hellfury Shadowstalker satyr in the northeast of the zone next to get an oracle stone from a naga Oracle in the northwest of the zone. After this Maurin refers you to the orc standing near him, who commissions you to kill Lord Azrethoc (40 elite demon) and his buddy Jugkar Grim'rod.

The odd thing is it actually does list itself as a quest in my log now.. even though it seems there is no way for me to turn it in.. :p

This has been fixed as of today. Evade my NE rogue got the skin and the quest, so I submitted a ticket, low and behold it was an error. Gm thanked me and that was that, it no longer drops for Alliance players on the Khadgar server... Hoora!

1450xp as of 2.3 It's a random drop from any of the burning blade mob in or near Thunder Axe forteress. For me, i was not even aware of that quest, was doing Hand of Lruxos when one of the mod drops it.
