Battleworn Axe (10)

Description

The Blackrock orcs have travelled from the Burning Steppes and claimed Stonewatch Keep to the north. From there they maraud the areas north of Lakeshire and keep its citizens in town, penned like cattle.

Help rid Lakeshire of this menace. Kill these Blackrock orcs and bring me ten of their Battleworn Axes as proof.

And although Blackrocks threaten us from the north, we've received reports of more in the southeastern pocket of Redridge. If you find any there, then they too should be hunted.

You don't have to kill the elite ones in stonewatch keep to get these. You can get them from the non-elite level 20's or so up the path from lakeshire.

Easiest place I found for this quest was in the South East.&nbsp The orcs there are level 18-20 and there were no elites either.

Orc encampment at 69, 79, or just a bit south of Stonewatch Keep. Orc level lies around 19-21.

Just north of the bridge is a big boulder where 3 thugs usually hides out.
Guess what - same type.
Just wait for them and kill them.
Just plant yourself at 41,39 and they will come to you one at a time..

These axes have a somewhat low drop rate. Also, be careful: you'll probably have to take these on two or three at a time.

I'm a level 21 human priest and I soloed this quest using patience and reserve.&nbsp I positioned myself on a rock overlooking landspace (70,24) with a stream behind me.&nbsp A level 19, 20, and 21 would rez in the landspace and I'd carfully run down and take each out when no others were around.&nbsp It took quite a while to get all the drops, but with some patience, the reward is extra experience due to all the kills and eventually succeeding in completing the quest.

Good luck! :-)

It's true, Render's Valley is the best place to pick up those orcs..BUT, what no one is telling you is that you're probably gonna die a couple of times b/c the place is literally crawling with Condors and Dragon Welps!&nbsp When I was battling an Orc, two welps attacked me from the back.&nbsp You will also see a spider or two lurking around, but they don't seem to attack until your azz is almost dead from battling two of something else.&nbsp I love the fight..that's the fun of playing, but the way they have some of the areas set up is freakin' nuts!&nbsp This coming from a lvl 21 powerhouse paladin!&nbsp Oh btw..yes, there is an elite at the tower.&nbsp If you run around the bottom of the hill, there is a road that leads up to their outpost..that's where I met up with the elite.

You can find the majority of these mobs at Render's Camp, which you get the discovery to at around 44,20.

Also, the Battleworn Axe drop rate isn't too miserable. At least not within my experience. :]

It may be a good idea to do this quest along with Blackrock Bounty. In my experience, the champions seemed to have a higher drop rate for the axes than the mobs outside the cave.

I got them from the road up from lakeshire and the lvl 19-21 that I found there had a pretty decent drop rate. I killed about 15-18 to get them.

The orcs you kill for this are not elite, you don't need to kill the ones in the castle for the axes to drop...even though the drop rate is horrendous anyways.

I got an axe from the first Outrunner I killed, then nothing for the next 10 kills, whether they were Grunts, Outrunners, whatever. Then got 3 consecutive ones, then one every 5 kills or so after that. It'll take killing at least 40 of these orcs to get your axes.

I've got some axes just north of lakeshire where there were bit of orcs there and i killed some which was a bit hard to take 3/2 down 19+. Southeast orcs drop a better % which could be the main place for u to do but if u do north ones u can grind and they some time to get the Axes for u and it really isnt that far just like 5 steps near the big rocks, They spawn 3 or 2 but usually the ones u meet first are 3 and the ones on the rocks just upper are usually 2 so it wont be that hard if ur a hunter but im a rogue which i used sap, make sure ur sap wont miss or fail, if u do then its the end of u , lol. Enjoy now.

I did this quest solo at 18...

There are a bunch of orcs beside the road just up the hill north of the big bridge, they are level 19 to 21.

There is a fixed 3 spawn and then a fixed 2 spawn and a fixed single spawn and 1 wandering spawn.

The mobs are social, so hard to single pull. But if you can't take 3 at once (and I couldn't), just stick to the single spawn and the double spawn and the roamer (always kill the roamer as soon as he pops, because otherwise your 2-pull might become a 3-pull...ouch)

Decent experience quest.

You can find the axes on any type of Blackrock Orc, though the Elites seem to drop them more often. Consult the Interactive Maps if you cant find the Orcs (though they are pretty much anywhere North and West of Lakeshire).

There is a large camp of Orcs to the south east part of the lake (as the quest indicates). There seem to be much more here and are also more easliy taken out (as you will find several walking on their own).

Definately go southeast for this one. The orcs are easier to pull and the drop rate is better. There's a village at 72,79 with easy pulls.

Well we went southeast for this...I was with a 23 Draenei Shaman and she got hers really fast but it took HOURS for me. The drop rate is not very good with the orcs on the road but up the mountains there's a camp of them and the drop rate is pretty good there. However, be sure to pick them off the edge best you can because if you get them in clusters they gang up. Major aggro. We ended up having to call it a night when I had 7 of them...finished it pretty quick the next day. Orcs here are 19-21.

I should have gone southeast.

I killed tens of them and they gang up on you...I'm 24 and was working with a 23 and we both got killed twice. She's a healer too!

The drop rate was TERRIBLE. I still need 3 more and I've been on this for hours!

Ugh.

If you choose the cluster up in the northwest area, at Render's Camp, it's reasonably easy (lv21 or 22) with one exception: a single lv24 Blackrock Tracker who wanders up and down the path to the camp itself every few minutes. I think he must have killed me twice before I learned to watch out for him.
