Mai'Zoth

Bring the Mind's Eye to Brother Nimetz at the Rebel Camp.
Mind's Eye

Description

Kurzen may be dead, but...that which drove him to evil still lives! Through my studies I have discovered this: An Ogre Mage - Mai'Zoth - dwells in an Ogre Mound within the eastern mountains of Stranglethorn. He is rumored to employ mind-controlling magic, and I am positive that he corrupted Kurzen.

If Mai'Zoth is allowed to live, then his evil may influence others, and may even cause another Kurzen to surface.

Kill him, and bring me his Mind's Eye, the artifact he uses to corrupt others.

ok is the info, no bs about how low lvl i was when i beat it or what ever.

Its in the Mosh'ogg Orge Mound, locate at cosmos 50,28.

Careful because you'll get zerged by 4 or more lvl 45 elites at a time. Then boss is lvl 47 elite who hits for 700+.

Have fun and leave better notes plz....

Mai'Zoth is in the Mosh'ogg Orge Mound, locate at cordinates 50.28

Be carefull because you can aggro 4 or more lvl 45 elites at a time. Mai'Zoth is lvl 47 elite and hits about 700 damage...
On the approach (in and outside of the cave) watch out for wandering mobs, so clear the front wandering mobs and the pull of the two front guards.

This guy is in the cave just south of where Bagthera hangs out.&nbsp You have to go down in the valley area and the cave is at the end, guarded by 43-44 ish elites.&nbsp They aren't too much of a problem.&nbsp Had a group of 4 (40-44's).&nbsp Got to the back room - it's him and two buddies.&nbsp Absolutely could not pull his buddies at all after trying everything.&nbsp The guy deals serious damage and kicked our butts 4 times before I gave up.&nbsp You'll need someone higher level to help you out unless you can defy the laws of WOW and/or lie like some people who comment above.

I can confirm coords 50:28 for cave entrance actual Mai'Zoth is nearer 52:27

As everyone seems to mention what level they were...

I was a 49 Shadow Priest, i died once on zoth, just MC the first till dead...then tried to take on the other 2, died, cam back...same trick again, Mind Control the other Lord, then took down Zoth with my shadow magic, not easy...not hard though.

I think i may have been lucky getting into the cave originally...it seemed too easy, maybe someone had killed some of the mobs at the entrance...

Anyways, GL! hope i was helpful to someone...

Be very careful on this one. These npc's aggro very easily and hit like level 48-49 elites.....a level 46 priest and seasoned level 47 shaman in very good gear tried 3 times to complete and were unable due to the mobs' extremely high dps and hp. Not expected from 41-45 elites...at all.

Found Mai in back of cave with a 45 "Lord" and a 43 caster, that's it.&nbsp Wasn't too hard.&nbsp I poly'd the lord and counterspelled the caster, concentrated on nuking the caster myself while my party's warrior and hunter killed Mai.

All elites.&nbsp The cave is full of 43-45 elites.&nbsp Some casters, some warriors.&nbsp Mostly fire mages with the odd shadow shaman.

Soloed as 50 Warlock, send in Voidwalker to tank his 2 guards, dotted up Mai'Zoth and feared him, then heal Voidwalker, dot up Mai'Zoth and Fear him again (Howl of Terror if Voidwalker is dead) and wait for Mai'Zoth to die. At this point however you will most likely be close to dead, but if you have a Soulstone, and no mobs close, ressurect, loot, and get out :)

You need to complete the following quest chains in order to get this quest.

Kurzen's Mystery: http://classicdb.ch/?quest=207
Special Forces: http://classicdb.ch/?quest=574

Except 'Special Forces', the other 3 quests are really hard one, take a lot of effort and time to complete, while the rewards, including this one, are worthless. Although I have done these quests many times, I seldom find any other one doing these at the same time, while STV is always flooded with players in other quests. Most of them must have skipped this one. Yes, you don't want to do this quest chain. Blizzard should make the reward a nice blue item, otherwise this is to be a deserted quest chain in STV. So hard, but reward so poor.
Well, I'm just doing it for SW rep to get a mount, and for some challenge.

This quest is really hard. I am a priest 44 and had with a full group lvl 40-44 and we got wiped out 3 times after the third time all the other ogres respawned and we could not rez in the cave.
Max 5K XP and an orb I will not use that even if I disenchant what i would get is easy to find.

Opened quest log and Abandoned.

BTW the quest tells you were the Ogre is, in the Ogre cave.

I'm a feral druid on level 49 (2 levels above the Mai'zoth, so his level was still yellow) I used stealth to get up behind him and his 2 guards, I managed to attack him without aggroing the others, he don't have much health/armor and is mainly a caster, so rogues and feral druids can just solo this quest if they bother to wait for level 49 (don't know if the aggro range is okey below that)!

Edit: Oh yeah, for me he had 2 Lords as guards, they HIT leather for 200 and can crit for up to 600... so be carefull.

This guys aoe is wicked. Tried this with a 48 pally 47 'lock and a 42 hunter and got wiped. Went back with a 60 warrior in tow the hunter died again as well as both pets and the pally had to loh with less then 100 health remaining. All from the aoe. The pally wasn't even on Mai'Zoth he was off tanking one of the adds.

The hardest part was managing the mobs getting to him. Me (45 rogue), 43 hunter and another 46 rogue. Sapped the two lords beside him, beat Mai before the sap wore off, beat the two lords rather easily.

did this with a 48 pally(me) 45 warrior and a 46 warlock. Was pretty simple, the lock kept mai'zoth feared while we took out his two bodyguards, then we took out maizoth. Lost only the warrior, right as mai''zoth died, so we all got the loot.

Did this quest as a level 45 druid with help from a lvl 43 warlock and a lvl 50 warrior. The minion held one of the helpers, the warrior got aggro from the guy himself, and I spammed healing till he was dead, then took the two helpers easily afterwards.

Did this quest as a 48 pally with a 44 'lock, and two other pallies, a 39 and a 41. All got wiped the first time Mai'zoth was pulled, went back in the second time, the 'lock/walker and I tanked 'zoth, other pallies healed... he went down pretty fast, and then we were able to take out the two casters he had with him :)

basically when you enter the cave take the first right and he is down at the back

im a 47 hunter and did it with a 43 preist and 42 hunter and a 43 mage, was no prob

poly'd one, pet tank another mypet tanked boss, and priest healed my pet. and yes his aoe is damn harsh. basically we killed mai'zoth and grabbed the loot before we all died. not the best way but it worked

Did this at level 41 with my warrior and 2 druids (60 & 46). An unlikely team that struggled a bit at first but made through (one was resto and other was feral) on the first try.

5050 xp. 150 Stormwind reputation increase.

Strongly recommend a party consisting of at least 1 level 50+.

Duoed this quest and maury's foot with me (43 BM hunter, and a 45 Pally). Lay a freezing trap, then have the hunter pet dash in, hit bestial wrath and intimidate him off the bat to hold agro. Fire off a multi shot to pull the lord into your trap, while the pally will get healing agro from the caster add and just tank the damage. Then just stand back against the wall on the ledge so the only thing getting hit by Mai Zoth's volley is the pet, and nuke Mai Zoth down while the pally chain heals your pet. Lay a new trap so the lord is retrapped, then when mai zoth is down switch target to the caster mob and nuke him down. At this point King Bang (my pet) wasn't taking much damage, so the pally can add dps instead of healing.

Soloed as a 48 hunter, was pretty easy actually. There were two two-pulls on the way in, and one of those was accidental near the entrance; the others were all one-pulls, and not too many of em either.

Mai'Zoth himself does have adds. One's a melee guy, one's a caster, both hit quite hard. I had to put pet on Mai himself, trap melee, and unload DPS on Mai before they killed both of us.

Blizzard apparently forgot to edit Mai'Zoth's damage.
Bassicly this means that his friggin frostbolt volley still hits for over 600 damage.
Not to forget that he has two annoying adds that you have to take care of aswell if you want to solo this quest.
Brilliant Blizzard.

Sincerely, Xarlequin.
