Description

While I study those legends you acquired, gather for me implements of evil troll magic. Enter the territory of the Skullsplitter trolls, a second tribe to the distant south, and acquire Skullsplitter Fetishes from their Witchdoctors and Mystics.

There are at least three troll hangouts. They form a sort of triangular region in the central part of SV, east of the road.

1. the Ziata'jai Ruins (42,35) are along the road, to the east (right) of the road, between the Arena to the south and Lake to the north.&nbsp Here, the road runs almost straight and almost due north-south.&nbsp There is a Temple icon for these ruins on the Map.&nbsp This place is mostly populated with lvl 39-40 Axe Thrower and HeadSplitters.&nbsp I found only a couple Mystics or WDs nearby.

2. the Ruins of Zul'Mamwe (46,41) lies to the SE of Ziata'jai.&nbsp There is a Temple icon on the map for this location too.&nbsp As I hunter, I used Humanoids tracking to 'scout' the area and found near zero Mystics or WDs, but saw large groupings of Warriors and others.&nbsp &nbsp

3. The most promising spot I found is north and east of Ziata'Jai in the Balia'Mah Ruins (43,41).&nbsp The are about where the letter 'o' in ogre for the Mosh'Ogg Ogre Mound appears on the map.&nbsp I found good numbers of Mystics around here.

It's worth noting that there are patrols, usually 3 of mixed types, patrolling the paths between these three sites.&nbsp You are warned.

I definitely found that most Troll types were dropping Tusks (for the other quest).&nbsp But, the Fetishes are only found on the WDs and Mystics

Overall, I found the drop rate to be okay.&nbsp :-|

This is info to the ones who isn't reading their quests : The "skullsplitter fetish" ONLY drops from Witchdoctors and Mystics !

Don't waste time on the other, if you aren't on the Q called "skullsplitter tusks" it drops from every trolls in that area ..

If you follow the road towards Booty Bay, youll find Balia'Mah ruins on your left where the Skullsplitters are. Use Anonymous's map to find the place.

But keep in mind that you only need to kill Mystics and Witch Doctors for those are the only ones who drop the quest item.

I would highly recommend trying to do this quest with Stonesplitter Tusks active as well. It's almost inevitable that you'll end up having to kill non-mage trolls while you're gunning for the shaman and witch doctors, so it makes sense to benefit from killing them as much as possible. I went to the ruins with both quests active, and by the time I had 4/4 Fetishes, I had 15/18 Skullsplitter Tusks. The quest givers are on opposite ends of the map in Stranglethorn, but it's always nice to be working through two quests at the same time ^^

Looks like I got lucky on this quest, It was 100% drop rate for me. Killed Mystics around 46,41, didn't spot any of the Witch Doctors. Lots of damn hunters and axe-throwers around though.

Lordbear's set of three co-ords are all three good places to get the Fetishes, not bad drop rate either, as long as you kill the mystics!

Also good to do the Skullsplitter Tusks quest at the same time because all 8 generally drop while killing for the Fetishes. :) Just thot I'd say

There also seemed to be alot of hassle bout the co-ords for this quest so, http://i7.tinypic.com/2145b9l.jpg the purple squares, that're circled in red, are the areas where the Mystic's are an where the Fetishes drop. Have fun

there is a third camp with mystics and also hunters and rouges just south east of the first camp.

just follow the patrols if u have trouble finding the different camps, they visit all

The biggest difficulty with this quest is not the bad guys - they are not that hard. the difficulty with this quest is the the drop rate of fetishes from mystics. I spent 2 HOURS killing mystics to get 4 fetishes.

Be warned! The drop rate is about 1:10, for every fetish you get you'll have to kill around 10 mystics...well i did...and its no easy feat as they are usually in the little villages with 4 or so warriors around them.

If you do this in a big group be prepared to spend all night waiting for everyone to get thier fetish drops.

Nice xp but tedious quest

i am a lvl 43 priest and did the quest, drop rate was good and I am one of those "retards" to whom people are referring. Math hates me.
The dictionary defines retard as: A slowing down or hindering of progress. A delay. So, please remember that some people need help in order to do thier quests quickly and efficiently! It refers to a situation, not a persons mental ability.

Maybe I'm lucky but I only had to kill about 10 or so to get all 4 not including the adds i had to kill. The drop rate didn't seem TOO bad for me but maybe it's different on some servers or something.

I just did this quest today. I went to the Balia'Mah Ruins right off the road to the east going to Booty Bay. Then I just stayed outside the ruins in the back and picked off the Mystics I saw one at a time and avoide the patrols of 3 and it only took like 10 minutes or less to do.

Watch out for the 3 troll patrol in the area, I also completed the "Skullsplitter Tusks" quests here, they dropped from the warrior's, Mystic's, and Axe Thrower's..

I think you will find, around 46,42 is the place to be. I went to 43,34 and all I could find were axe throwers and warriors.. who dropped nothing. Where as at 46.42 there were plentyful mystics and witch doctors that dropped 1 each kill.

So yeah.. check out 46,42.
and for those without co-ordinates.. it is pretty much in the Ruins of Zal'Mamwe.

The larger of the 2 camps is really full of mobs, and you need to be careful.

Be patient, and try and roam around the outskirts of this, and you will have a bit slower but easier time picking off singles and duos.

These seem to drop about 1 in 3 or 4, so it doesn't take long. If you combine this while working on the Skullsplitter Tusks quest, you kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

While doing this one take your time....I stayed at the northern camp took out the surrounding mobs then cleared the ruins. They were easily pulled one by one out of the ruins b4 sending the pet in. The traveling 3 consisted of 2 warriors and one axe thrower, they were easily take down by sending pet to take the axe thrower first and using ranged on him the picking one of the others and send the pet there and using ranged again....by the time they approached me I usually got down to one left.

The Ruins are at 42/34 but you find them all around that area. The dropped very quickly (7 mystics) done this within 20 mins.

There are some scattered ones at 43, 38. They are kinda spread apart, but it is better than fighting through the mess at the other places listed.
