Tramping Paws

Kill 15 Mosshide Gnolls and 10 Mosshide Mongrels, then return to Rethiel the Greenwarden in the Wetlands.
  •
Mosshide Gnoll slain (15)
  •
Mosshide Mongrel slain (10)

Description

The Mosshide Gnolls have lived in the Wetlands peacefully for many years, but now grow in numbers. Their feet stamp flat the fen's bushes and flowers, and their foul axes cut too much wood to fuel their fires.

They are no longer in balance with the land. For the Wetlands to survive, the Gnolls must be reduced.

Kill 15 Mosshide Gnolls and 10 Mosshide Mongrels. Hunt them to the south, near the Dwarven gate of Algaz. After you do this, return to me.

yea great location for you if you plan on staying at the location for 100 years

most of them are fenrunners.. and only 4-5 mongrels

the camp is at 63,63 they are mongrel's and
gnolls

on that location be sure to eliminate the ones who are spaced further away from the tents and have a buddy with you if youre only lvl 20 on this. cause they attack all of them at once if you arent carefull and tahts 6 mosshides plus the ones you dont clear on the outside of camp

Don't forget you have to hand the quest in at the Greenwarden. I forgot, ran to Menethil and had to run back. Waste of time to do that

You can find gnolls on the outer rings of camps at the following approximate locations:
64,66
62,73
63,70

They're easily pulled off here and taken one on one if you're soloing.

By the time I got around to doing this quest, it was green to me. And, I grouped up with a Pally that needed to do it. Obviously, her and I cleared through the camps pretty quickly. Luckily, they have a really fast respawn time.

Well.. Yeah. That's my point. They have a fast respawn time. I hope that helps some of you out. :]

There are at least 3 camps in the South-East not far from the road. You can pull them out one for one, just take time for it.

I did this one when I was a little high for it, but the drops were good, I even got some blue gear from the gnolls.
The noises they make when they fight are hysterical.

These are not the gnolls found near the Harbor they are in the swamp closer to the tunnel to Loch Modan in an area called Mosshide Fen. Mongrels are easy to find. The gnolls appear to hand out near camps. Super easy quest when it's green and you are a level 26 Mage.

Take note that the mongrels at the south-eastern camp take longer to respawn that the Gnolls, and they are fewer. If you have killed all 15 gnolls and still need some more mongrels, kill them on your way back as there are some "scouting" just off the road. Do this instead of waiting for respawn.

These mobs are on an insane spawn time 4 of us (Lvl 25 (all) Druid/Hunter/Mage/Warlock) were massacring them, there was a sea of Mosshide Gnolls surronding us, unlooted, and yet the buggers kept on popping.

An easy quest with 4 involved but I can see the adds being a pain for a solo'er.

Yeah, you can pull them, suggest pulling them then running backwards as they charge toward you so when they run they can't get back to quick.

Crippling poison saved my butt by slowing them long enough so I could either catch up or hit them with a couple of arrows. Of course, as a rogue, would much rather Sap and Ambush, but the pulling factor made that not as workable. Only had to Vanish twice, once when a runner pulled two. After I Vanished they split and I could finish off the remainder.

I also benefited by finding a camp where a Lvl 65 was trying to up his gun skill and killing one after another at this camp. So I just roved around and killed the ones he wasn't working on. Lol.
