Woodpaw Investigation

Find the gnoll battle plans somewhere in the gnoll camps to the south of Camp Mojache.

Description

Gnolls aren't the sharpest tools in the shed, but they will no doubt have some sort of documented strategy on their recent activity. If we were to find those plans, then we'd have a clearer idea of what is making them so worked up.

I want you to head back to the Woodpaw and find anything that might resemble their battle plans. They have to have something; their attacks have been too coordinated to be done without them. Find them, and return to me when you have them.

its on a crate on a mound u can tell its there because the other camps have campfires and this 1 has a bonefire its gaurded by 5 or 6 peeps but u can pull 1 or 2 at a time so its quite easy.

TIP: dont try to pull em all at once
TIP: look for the bonefire :D

Note for stealthers -- Druids and Rogues:
You DO need to open this to complete the quest.. it has a 3 or so second timer that gets canceled when damaged so you can't just stealth in and complete it, you need to clear the mobs around it to complete the quest from it and get the new one.

I found the battle plans at 72,56 on a crate. Make sure you actually go to the right camp in 72,56. The camps are close together so you gotta be careful. It's especially hard since you're always having to fend off the Woodpaw that aggro you. But the paper is right there, plain as day, on top of the crate.

The plans are on top of a crate in the first camp you come to that has an "alpha" in it, south of the little lake.

The little lake is southwest of Camp Mojache.

The correct coords are: 71,55

The paper is hard to see as it sits flat on a crate near an Alpha, a Mystic, and two Reavers.
(I didn't see it the first few times either!)
Pull the Reavers one at a time and tag the Mystic with the Alpha.
Look REAL close and you will see the paper on the crate, but you have to be standing right next to it to see it.
Good luck!

For those without coords, there is a small lake in the northern part of the woodpaw area.&nbsp Go to the lake then go to the west side of this lake.&nbsp Now look south and you'll see a camp with yet another camp just south of your position (that's 2 camps south).&nbsp That's the camp you are looking for with the plans on the crate.

Stop what you are doing, buy or make an Ornate Spyglass (engineering creation).

Using this item (unlimited charges) allows you to see beyond your normal clipping range and be able to see and mouse over items such as herbs, ore, items or chests and even obtain a target on a mob.

Very handy item for everyday use and very nice for&nbsp warsong gulch. Now where did that flag go?

go back to where you killed the alphas and the plans will be in one of the small camps where the alphas are.&nbsp They sit on top of a crate so they are easy to miss.&nbsp I'm a hunter so it was easy for me to find them,&nbsp I just sat on top of a high hill and used my eagleeye to find which camp.

The plans are a sheet of parchment laying flat on a crate in any of the camps with an alpha in it.&nbsp It looks like it will be in only one of them at any given time, so you should be able to look around and see which camp has the plans before you attack.

Went to 72,55 and it wasn't there.
Went to 71,55 and it was there.

Looks like it switches around.

Very easy to do at level 46 as a rogue, as I could manage to aggro one monster at a time, except for the Alpha and the Mystic who were tight together. In the Alpha and Mystic's case I simply sapped the Alpha, and took out the Mystic. Yay!

See you all on Dragonmaw on the Horde side!
Tostitos wishes you good luck!

"i got it at 72,56 and maybe some peoples coordinate mods are different"

No, sorry. All coords are exactly the same. The mod doesn't make them up, blizzard provides them. The mod&nbsp (any mod) just shows them (not shown normally).

----

the reason for the 2 coords is there's 2 possible spots for it. You can see the other spot from the first, so should be pretty simple. Just pull with a ranged spell/attack until one camp is cleared, go check it. If not, rinse and repeat for other hill. It's good exp, so don't cry about having to kill them.

Did it easily as a 42 druid. On a side note I cleared these same mobs earlier today at 41 for the other quests, so should be possible at 41 too. Especially as a druid, be sure to make use of everything you got: cat form for a single one, bear form for multiple ones, heal as much as you can (I tend to do rejuv, war stomp + regrowth so that the HoT's are ticking as much as possible while I finish with a healing touch. This gets me back to full hp with HoT's still ticking. Then I go to bear or cat form as necessary. Remember you have innervate :). Also make good use of moonfire and faerie fire. DoT's are always good while healing, get their HP ticking down with DoT's and your ticking up with HoT's.)

This quest is pretty simple to find. From what i see there is only 6 or 7 camps in this area, the plans are definately in one of them. Finding the plans is easy, obtaining them might require some work. I found the plans at 71, 55 but it was gaurded by a 44 alpha a 42 reaver and mystic and a 43 mystic. Not so easy when im only 41. I hope this helped.

Ok most of these posts were handy in indicating what was coming up.
I totally agree that the "I solo'd this with my level 2 hamster whilst scratching myself and making a 3 course meal" comments are irritating for the humans among us.

On the flip side, I did just solo this as a 39 lock, narrowly.

Plan was to distract the mobs with vw, grab the plans and leg it with sacrifice, problem being the bugger died early.

Still, if you have a pet with high hp, you CAN solo it but be careful.

If you're not confident there is no shame in taking a friend.

Hope this helps.

The Alpha can be pulled easily solo. So can the mob to the right of the alpha. The other two can be crowde controlled or if youre high enough level taken out. I just intimidating shouted the last two and grabbed the plans.

This was rather simple.

Class: Shaman
Level: 43

Before entering the camp I killed the few dudes walking around. Then I used Earth Shock to agro one when the time was right. This caused the dude not to use spells so he ran towards me. Killed him and kept going this way until the entire camp was cleared out.

Walked up and clicked on the scroll then, since I didn't have any more quest in this area, I used recall <Hearthstone>.

its the easiest thing in the world.
start by pulling the melee mobs from the far side
pull them out one by one, or in pairs.

then go for the remaining caster --> retrieve scroll.

Soloed with lvl 42 druid.
