The Essence of Eranikus

Bring the Oathstone of Ysera's Dragonflight and the Chained Essence of Eranikus to Itharius in the Swamp of Sorrows. It is there that you will make your choice to aid Ysera's Dragonflight or not.

Description

You engage the Oathstone, and Itharius speaks directly to your mind through the stone.

"By accepting the charge placed in this Oathstone, you agree to aid my cause and the cause of Ysera's Dragonflight in redeeming the corrupted soul of Eranikus. The first sacrifice, one of many you and I will no doubt make, will be to relinquish the gem to me that has chained what free-willed part of Eranikus' psyche remains."

"Do this <name>, and we will work together to redeem a soul worthy of redemption."

"More will be added to the Eranikus quest chain in a future patch (not sure how far off as of right now). I can't reveal anything further at this time, but from what I've seen it's going to be really cool and fairly rewarding."

After you awaken and defeat the Shade of Eranikus, you loot his essence off of him and use it while you're in there to start a mini-quests. All you have to do for it is "use" the brazier in the back of the room you fought him. You recieve the chained essence then. After you leave the temple, go to Itharius' cave and choose the last option you see. That riggers the quest but you lose a decent AoE trinket if you finish the quest. I'm not to sure what the reward of the next step in Winterspring is yet...

If you use this trinket at all don't do this quest for now. The quests that follow dead end and while you'll get some xp you'll be without the trinket. You can jump to here to see a GM response.

according to a GM response I read, the followup quest to this in Winterspring isn't complete yet, so right now you'd be losing your trinket for nothing. :/

people,

when you use the gem, eranikus will whisper something like"mortal, take me to someone of the green dragonflight to stop this"

is itharius a green dragonflight member at all?

becasue the quest of itharius appears to be a dead end, BUT:
south-east of the sunken temple of the atal'ai dwels a dragon, the champion of the green dragonflight!

like eranikus, he is corrupted aswell and will attack you on sight (hes a lvl 62 elite)

maybe wearing the item or using the essence of eranikus on him may cause a change that makes him neutral or something.

can anyone try? casue i handed my trinket in to itharius.

o yea and i completed this at lvl 60 i got 55s not much but the next quest you get by completing this one gives u a reward of 2g 52s

The quest starts when you are in the Sunken Temple in Swamp of Sorrows.&nbsp You find this Gem and turn it in right there, and get a trinket out of it.&nbsp The trinket is what you turn in to the elf in the cave.

Assuming the quest is fixed.&nbsp Otherwise don't do it.

No, that 62 elite is a dragon that the Horde side kills in their chain quest for the Onyxia key.&nbsp As far as I can tell, the quest ends in Winterspring.

by completing this quest, you DO loose your Chained Essence of Eranikus. so if ur in love with the chained essence, for whatever reason, i would not reccomend completing this quest

Since the quest doesn't give you much besides XP, I'd say don't bother doing this one. Keep the trinket instead, because yes, you have to turn the trinket in as part of the quest.

I was wondering around the swamp at lvl 60. Decided to explore the cave. After talking to him he gave me this quest. I didn't have any trinket at all from ST so maybe this is fixed....

I haven't done the quest or anything yet cause what do I need xp for if there is no further reward for it than that.

I had the chained essence before I got this quest. I just threw it away cause I didn't need it. Now when I got this quest I can't get the essence of eranikus again to complete this quest. Sux aholes..
