Chasing A-Me 01

Find a Mithril Casing and return to A-Me 01 in Un'Goro Crater.
Mithril Casing

Description

A little further investigation shows a panel that slides open. Clearly written above some wiring is the statement, "Replace Mithril Casing And Turn Power Off Then On."

Taking a moment to replace the panel, you wonder if it'll be that simple to fix A-Me 01 and get her back to Karna Remtravel near Marshall's Refuge.

Only trying it will tell.

You need a Mithril casing [https://classicdb.ch/?item=10561] to go on to the Final part of the quest [https://classicdb.ch/?quest=4245] which are made by 215 engineers.

The important thing to weigh out is not only the price, but the XP. If completing the mission gets you your level than to me its worth it.

I don't know if it actually works this way or is just a placebo, but whenever I enter a cave where I know the respawn-rate is fast (like the gorilla cave in the crater or the various insect caves) I just skip looting the corpses until I'm on my way out.

It seems that the monsters don't respawn as long as their corpses are there, and the corpses stay there as long as noone loots (atleast for several minutes)

Compared to the chicken escorts (oops! a gang of mobs appears out of nowhere for no apparent reason!) this one was a piece of cake. There are no suddenly spawning mobs and the only ones that will attack are the ones aggroed by getting too close.

You will probably have cleared out all the apes in the tunnel that leads outside so no need to worry about those. As for the rest, when I soloed as level 52 mage I needed to kill only three random mobs - a gorilla and two Tar Lords.

...you lot are all trippin' on somewhat, and here's why.

First, you all seem to be forgetting to add the cost of travel to and from the AH to get the Mithril Casing. I don't know about the rest of you, but I tend to subtract travel costs from the amount of money I make from any venture I undertake, quest or no.

Secondly, I'm looking at the AH right now, and if I can get a Mithril Casing for 1g, I'd be very surprised. First up, the cheapest Mithril Bars I can see are 2g18s84c for 4...and I only need 3, don't I? The next one down the list is selling 3...oh, but look, he (or she) is selling them for 3g...which is...um...oh, yeah, 1g EACH.

Ok, let's try getting the casing pre-made instead...Ok, there is one person selling Mithril Casings...but I just want one, and they're selling 5...for a tiny 13g77s50c...

So on both counts, it seems that our estimation of 1g for a Mithril Casing is a little bit off. And considering that in the 20-odd minutes I will have wasted travelling to the AH and back to Un'Goro, I could have made more XP and cash than the quest even gives me...

It seems there are a lot of people here who make blind, blanket statements without first doing thier research. Thank the Light that in my guild, we give each other the help and mats we need, free of charge.

ADDENDUM: By the way, for those who said that A-Me keeps running and cannot be damaged...if that was true, it is no longer the case, and has apparently been fixed in one of the patches. Still, she's definitely not as dumb as the chickens, and on the way out of the cave she even turned to offer assistance to another player who was being attacked by a nearby gorilla - and I'd give my eye-teeth to have seen the look on the player's face upon seeing a level 55 Rogue and her mechanical gorilla friend charging to thier rescue!

I would not "be very careful" about buying a Mithril Casing. Regardless of the fact that gold in Outland is vastly more plentiful, even by old world standards, the price of a Mithril Casing is low. Take this from someone who has farmed for their epic flying mount, and has always had enough gold for the prior mounts. Upon levelling up my 2nd character on a different server, I have a different perspective to gold in this game, and in my opinion, losing 40 silver or even more, is well worth it to gain 3950 exp at this level, considering it will help me get to Outland faster.

If you are doing the A-ME quest, I would recommend taking the gorilla hunting quest from the tauran who stands at the south edge of Un'Goro, then you can kill two gorilla's with one stone :-)

Not sure of the Tauran cooords - it is wednesday morning upgrade time - but he is standing to the east of the silithids, near the waterfall, right near the wall

You can not get a mithril casing drop first of all.

You either buy it from the AH or get a friend to make it.

It just takes 3 mithril bars and only engineers can make them. So in my case (Bsmith), I had the bars so I just found an 250+ engineer to make them for me for free...

Mithril casing is created by engineers using 3 mithril bars at a skill of 215. The corpse at 68,56 does not contain one. It turns up as a random drop from some appropriately levelled encounters (ie. high level fishing, named gnomes in mauraudon, etc).

Well i did this with my Druid and throughout the entire escort i didnt attack anything. i Stealthed and stayed with her. she pulled in total about 5 Apes and 1 Tar Lord but i didnt attack them. there is a glitch when A-Me pulled anything they just followed her and couldnt attack her. She simply kited them until they gave up chase. All i did was tail her stealthed and watched i didnt attack anything.

Also in stealth when you see a member of the opposing faction they may see little A-Me getting attacked and because they cant see me (im in stealth) they help her :P because they dont know whether its alliance or horde doing the escort. i was a 53 druid and a 52 warlock couldnt see me. after killing the Tar Lord. the warlock saw me as i came out of stealth to thank her for helping me. She realised she had helped an enemy and attacked me. i carried on following A-Me healing myself when it said the quest was complete i ran away into the crystal cave at marshalls refuge. I regenerated and entered stealth then as she came into the cave i ganked the Warlock :D (Thank god i picked a stealthing class) :D

I had one of my alt's buy the Mithril Casing at the AH for 2g 50s and mail it to me. Flew to Gadgetzan and picked it up.

I am a lvl 52 Hunter and this quest was about average. I did die the first time on the first leg because I tried to hurry, didn't heal my pet and didn't pay attention to the sleeping gorilla by A-Me. I thought he was dead and had left my depleted pet fighting 2 others. OOPS!

A-Me has indeed been fixed so be prepared to fight on the escort part of the quest. The 4 Gorillas I killed at the entrance had rezzed by the time I came out and 3 of the 4 attacked her at the same time.

This was much better than the stupid aggro everything for miles chicken escorts. I personally will avoid those in the future as they are optional quests and not that much fun.

I had rested XP on this quest so it was well worth it for me.

If you have the addon QuestHelper it will tell you to get mithril casing in Gadgetzan. And other places you will see it say this is sold by a vendor. It is not. You must get it on AH.

Currently Mithril Casing ran a little under 4g on my server.

QuestHelper tells you Gadgetzan because that is the closest engineer trainer; as if you would suddenly pick up engineering just to make a mitril casing for this quest. The vendor "sightings" comes from: quote Aricitic, "When on private servers any addons you have continue working. I suspect that this was placed here because someone who was playing on a 'private' server (in quotes because they accessed it across a network making it an unsanctioned public server) with the Thottbot addon. The addon picked up this NPC and placed it here.
This has happened with other NPCs and possibly spells as well... "

This quest was super simple, found amy, killed mobs on way out, and followed her to "her home", did have to kill waves of mobs, wasnt slow. Easy. Just make sure you bring the Mithril Casing before you go! Unless you bring a group with a mage and a lock.

Ok, you get the quest from the NPC at the entrance to Marshal's Refuge. Then go to Fungal Rock at 63.16 just to the east of MR. A-Me 01 is about 65.17 - enter the cave and stick to the right. You will see the yellow dot on your screen for the completed quest.
I soloed this one as lvl 48 hunter - it is possible.

An awesome quest, well worth it.

Solo'd it as a 50 Hunter. Lost my pet early on when we had 3 gorillas on us, but was able to rez him when we got out of the cave. No unexpected attacks, just the gorillas that had respawned, and a tar lord thing.
Quite simple, and about 10k xp for all of it.

Be very careful if you decide to buy a Mithril Casing. The reward for finishing the quest line is only 1g 60s and XP. If Mithril Casing's are selling for a over 2g buy the mats Mithril Ore or Bars and ask an Eng to make it for you.

Jemccrystal says that the mithril casings aren't sold by the vendors, but they are, only sometimes. Different hours etc, it's just like with certain recipees for things it says that there's 1 of them, that means that after you've bought it, it will take time for it to ''respawn'' and sometimes other items ''respawn''. So yeah if the quest helper tells you to go to one of those vendors I would because the might just have it!
