Take note that you MUST be hated with Booty Bay in order to get this quest. There is a bug/exploit you can do to get to Friendly with Bloodsail and still be friendly with Booty Bay, but you will be unable to get this quest.

Dont waste your time on the exploit. But get this hat, its very worth it for the novelty! Dont be afraid of goblin rep. You can reobtain that within hours with just about 200 gold by buying cloth and turning it in (or farm instances for it)

For those that looked for more then just basic info on the quest Avast Ye, Admiral!

I have 2 warnings you should heed.

1. On the way to the Inn is nasty business, many times along the way there are 'check points' where your presence will spawn bruisers who will immediatly aggro you. If you kill them, then try to eat, or even just take a breather, they will spawn ontop of you again, within a window of oh, lets say 5 seconds. With that in mind you need to KEEP MOVING.

2. You won't just get aggro from the Bruisers, I was also attacked by other NPCS on the way up.

I was able to solo this but I died several times. You can spirit rez but most locations bring you right into combat. The one spot I found you could rez in without immediate aggro was the clear spot in the Inn, where there are 2 rooms , right after the bridge, and right before going up to a bruiser room and your intended targets.

If you have died in the general area, and would like a place to not get instant aggro, this is it.

The targets themselves were a joke, the bruisers are what is fierce. Remember keep in melee range, those guns will drop you in the ocean, send you to more bruisers. Very deadly.

I recommend you bring pots and sat food because if your going to solo this every bit helps.

There are men in Naldir's Cove (southeast Bay in Arathi Highlands Jump from Thandol Span and Jump to it) that are from Booty Bay which give 5 rep. They are lvl 38-39 "Blackwater Deckhands"

After getting the pirate hat, go to https://classicdb.ch/npc=1016318 for a quest to rapidly restore your Goblin rep.

That, or kill Venture Company goblins and be on good terms with both BB and Bloodsail, but that takes far, far longer :)

Should be noted that anyone considering alliance to the bloodsail forfeits his/her possibility of attaining the t0,5-set.

The glove/belt-part starts at Mux Manascrambler, a Booty Bay-Goblin in Gadgetzan. You won't be able to talk to him once you are hostile with the goblin factions.

The "Level" of the quest is 60, but it does not list any actual level requirement. There may be no level requirement at all, also remember that rep is shared with the party so if you can get a big group to ransack BB, you can get way more rep way faster.

You need to be friendly to pick up this quest.

And btw, grinding rep with the Bloodsail was one of the things ive enjoyed most with World of Warcraft. Many lowbie allies had to give their lives though...

It was easy&nbsp as a warrior before some patch came out. I got 5 of them on me and hit with normal blows only. When my hp started to drop below 1000 i spammed CMD shout. Piece of Cake.

Kill Booty Bay Bruisers in bb or Cape of Stranglethorn right with the exit of bb. It is easier to kill them there.

With the goblins now at lvl 67 does anyone know if they give any more rep? Because if I'm not mistaken alot of larger rep gains such as this one with TBC were made easier.
Oh, and there's an easy solution to the whole "Booty bay/steamwheedle rep" problem...I had gotten from 30-40 on quests in STV and did every single BB quest and it seems like from what I see my BB rep isn't in danger whatsoever - I might get unfriendly if I'm unlucky.

This has been mentioned on another thread but killing Booty Bay guards only loses you rep with Booty Bay, not the entire Steamwheedle Cartel.

By Anonymous on 12/03/2006 (Patch 1.12.2)
I started at 0/36000 hated with the bloodsail buccaneers. So in 4.5 days total, I killed over 1800 booty bay guards. It didnt take as long as I thought it would because I also had help on my 2nd day of farming. I met a random level 60 tauren druid which later became a friend. It took me about 4.5 days to farm enough faction to get the quest.
If you have a job and not very much time then its probably gonna take you at least 2 weeks if you start at my level. Due to me currently being without a job, hehe it didnt take me nearly that long. I spent about 3 days just to farm enough cloth to get my faction back. I am now Honored with Ratchet, friendly with Gadgetzan, Neutral with Everlook, and Almost honored with booty bay.
I highly recommend farming for or buying linen from the Auction House and then doing the linen turn in quest at ratchet until you are no longer allowed to do the quest, then Silk with booty bay, Mageweave with gadgetzan and Runecloth with Everlook. Doing it in this order is cheaper and less time consuming on farming for the materials.
Not many people have this hat, so its worth it just to be unique or if you just want to be a true pirate.

Ragefire Chasm / The Deadmines = Linen
Scarlet Monastery = Silk
Netherguarde mines = Mageweave
Runecloth = Deadwind pass

._. ... o_o ... O_O ... WTF?

It's crazy enough anyone took the time to test out what happens, if you're go and kill armies of Goblins just to get on with the Bloodsail Buccaneers. (Thank you)

But: It's nothing less than insane to do so, knowing that all you will get from hours and hours farming and getting ganked by players of the other fraction, wasting a lot of quests and destroying your hardly obtained Steamweedle-fraction just to get a fancy looking Hat with a bird.

Guildmember: "Hey, let's do some Quests at <fill Goblin-Town here>."
Man with the hat: "Sorry, I'm with the Bloodsail Buccaneers..."

I thought I was far from normal, but this is... I think the word Insane is just not fitting. It's even more...
(I post again, when I found a word to describe such nonsense.)

You have to bored silly, addicted to rare clothing that has chump stats, or a really serious silk farmer if you are willing to wreck your faction in BB, Gadget, Everlook and Ratchet. The upshot is, if you got this hat, then killed the 30,000+ mobs it would take to increase your Steamwheedle Cartel back to Neutral, even at 1 sp per mob, you would make back 300g raw before any loot drops.

But again, a helluva waste of a few months if you ask me.

I started off by killing a few Booty Bay bruisers. Then out of bordom, I'd kill all the zepplin masters in Org, STV, and UC. Then I went to Gadgetzan and had a blast getting Hated by all the goblin towns.

For some reason I was a little off, because I wasn't really paying attention.. my goal was just to be hated by goblins! Rather, I should have been at BB the whole time, where you actually get + faction with the Bloodsail pirates.

*sigh* that's ok though, it's fun

Only reccomendation before attempting this: don't do any Booty Bay quests before you're 60 if you can avoid it. The Bloodsail faction hits you take HURT when you're farming for this hat. That said, with a good 5 people or so, the farming doesn't take more than an hour or 3. Ideally, get two AOErs (at least 1 mage unless you're masochistic) and 2-3 good healers, and just go to town. Horde have an easy way to get the Baron and Fleet Master: fly in from Grom'Gol when you want to do them. If you're not too picky about survival/maxing your WIN, just DPSing down those two is a breeze, they're flimsy.

My group wanted to go out with a bang, so we went from the cave, past the blacksmith, through the upper bar for our assassination. All of this while dressed as pirates. Masochistic? Maybe! Fun? Ohhhhhh yes.

You can get Avast Ye, Scallywag(prerequisite for this quest) as low as level 55. I started trying to get this quest since I was level 41 and since checked back at "Pretty Boy" Duncan to see if I could get this quest.

You can farm Bloodsail rep at Faldir's Cove in Arathi Highlands if you want to finish this rep gain as early as lv 40. I started farming Bloodsail rep in Faldir's Cove at level 37.
