Soul Shard

Description

I need only three things now, <name>, then we can finish your robe.

First, the fine gold thread Xizk is making for you. Return to him in Booty Bay and get it.

Second, bring me two smoldering coals from the fire elementals in the Arathi Highlands. If I recall correctly, they are to the west, near Thoradin's Wall.

Finally, a soul shard created by you.

After you have all the components, return here to the tower and I will complete the robe for you.

Burning Exiles can be killed at level 31 if you stock up on Cresting Charms (https://classicdb.ch/?item=4481), either through the AH or through a higher-level alt farming Cresting Exiles. Gather enough charms, "tag" the mob by doing some damage with a spell (it has to be *your* damage, not your pet's!), then simply right-click the charm to kill the exile immediately. As long as you tagged it, you can loot it.

Getting the initial "tag" is the hard part at level 31 as the resist rate is very high. I found using my VW to tank as long as possible - then saccing him if needed - was a good way to buy me the time needed to get a few points of spell damage on the Exiles' health bars.

Smoldering Coal is a quest item that is dropped from the Burning Exile https://classicdb.ch/?quest=2760 in Arathi Highlands. They are level 38-39, so it is a bit more difficult of a quest when you are level 30-32, but you can get a higher level friend to assist you. The drop rate is around 4-5% not very high but they still drop quite frequently, usually takes 2-8 kills for both of them.

To get the Fine Gold Thread you have to go talk to your Tailor friend in Booty Bay, the one who you gave the Gold Bar to earlier in the quest. He wont have a question mark or exclamation point on his head, but he still has your Fine Gold Thread if you talk to him.

/tloc 26,34 - Circle of West Binding in Arathi

Solo'ed at 35 - sent in void, pulled the elemental to the road.&nbsp Cast DoT's, then hit with the void + nature wand hard.&nbsp When the elemental tried to come after me, I Banished and healed.

Rinse, repeat.&nbsp Done.&nbsp I didn't die once, had to kill 10 elementals to get the 2 stones.

To get to the area for the smoldering coals, travel from Tarren Mill to the Circle of West Binding (Arathi). It's quicker then from Hammerfell

If you have high lvl alternative character, it is easy (I used my lvl 40 BE pali....lol).

Just goto (66,29) and start killing those Cresting Exiles. When you've done collecting Cresting Charms (I got 20). Send'em to your warlock.

Then all you do is goto the elementals hit'em then use the charm on them....job done (only used 4).

Now my BE lvl 33 Warlock as a new robe! (looks good to)

Never looked on AH, but someone is going to sell'em (I have some spares....lol)

Have Fun!

Easy way to kill these. Go to the Circle of East Binding by Hammerfall and kill the Cresting Exiles. With luck they'll drop the Cresting Charm which when used banishes a Burning Exile. Just do some damage before using it and bam! One dead BE.

If you want to have an easy time with the infernals and elementals at level 32-33, get out your Felhunter. He has Tainted Blood and will reduce the attack power of your enemy enough so you can get your curses and corruption on. Send him in first, autocasting Tainted Blood and nothing else. Let the mob get some hits in, then go to work with dots so you don't get aggroed. If the mobs are 5-6 levels higher than you they will resist your spells a good deal of the time - this means you need to be affliction-specced with 5 points in Suppression if you want to have any chance of winning. If you spam shadowbolts, it doesn't matter how much aggro you think your pet holds... the mob will come to you. Banish will also be resisted a good deal of the time, and takes time to cast. You can easily die trying to fire off Banish.

Or you can just take a friend out there with you... but what fun would that be? :P

By far, the hardest part of this quest is the Burning Exiles. I was 34 when I did this and I could only solo 1 Exile - the rest of the time I got pwned. I think I died at least 4 or 5 times.

Now...I was lucky enough to stumble upon a group that was farming them. They let me in the group and it took maybe 10 Exiles before I had the two Smoldering Coals.

I would recommend you either be at least 37 to solo or have group if you attempt like I did at 34.

I got both pieces of smoldering coal after killing about 4 burning exiles, lvls. 38 & 39.&nbsp Not that difficult at 36 if you have a decent amount of +shadow spell damage.

You can find the burning exiles in the Circle of West Binding, which is almost directly east of the entrance to Arathi from Thoradin's Wall.&nbsp About halfway between Thoradin's Wall & Northfold Manor if you're taking a straight path.

To clarify, to get the Fine Gold Thread, you go back to the tailor 'Xizk Goodstitch' in Booty Bay, he will have a BLUE question mark above his head, click him and you will be able to recieve the fine gold thread.

Take the main road through Arathi Highlands north/northwest toward Southshore (away from Wetlands).&nbsp You will hit Thoradin's Wall.&nbsp Just before the wall, turn right (east) and u will hit a small circle of stones (think Stonehenge).&nbsp They're all around that area, easy enough to pick one off at a time.

The hardest part is killing those elementals...
Here is my trick:
- You should be fully loaded with soul shards
- Of course you should focus on lv 38 elementals
- Use your vw as a tank and dot as usual, keep healing him and when he's about to die use banish on the elemental, and just summon another vw
- If you manage to get far from other mobs you can even use fear and do some drain life, but if things get worst just sacrifice your vw and run :P

Hope this will help out someone.

I noticed that someone said the tailor would not have a mark above his head when you return for the gold thread but he had a blue question mark when I did the quest. Just thought that might help.

This was the best fight I had in a long time. I had to kill 4 of them damn fire elementals to get the coals and managed it only dying once (soul was stored of course). I sent in the VW, set up the DOT's and pelt shadow bolts. Use sacrifice if the VW can't oulast the elemental coz then maybe u will still manage it. Outcome of the fight really depended upon how many criticals I got or how often he resisted. Anyhow tough but good fun killing 38 elementals with me lvl 35.

The robe is fab.

Easily soloable at level33 for affliction spec

Stick to the level 38s though

Cast shadowbolt, load the mob up with COA and Corruption, send in the suck and cast siphon life, and then just drain tank, u should be on about 1/5 health when they are dead :) Good luck

As a 34 I decided to use the succubus for the dps since my void cant hold aggro.&nbsp I got within 30 yards of a 38, dot agony, dot corruption, run, attack with succubus, corruption again, face up and wand it to death.&nbsp I took alot of damage but my shadowbolt was resisted everytime, so i just used the wand to finish.&nbsp Got the 2 coals after 5 or 6 elementals.&nbsp Not hard to do, but not the normal way of owning equal level stuff either.&nbsp Was wearing the Robe of Power so this is a decent improvement.

I took a stack of 10 crests to the zone and used 8 to get the two drops, and started 0-for-6 ... not sure if it's a 25% drop rate or not, but be prepared to burn a whole stack on this leg. Soloed the entire chain at 31, by the way. The toughest part was ponying up 12g for the robe at AH.

Just soloed it at 35. Followed Malagoth's advice about killing Cresting Elementals to get the Cresting Charm, it worked a treat on the first Burning Exile. The second I hammered with Shadow Bolt, Corruption and Frost wand, just killed him with about 0.5 life left, but hey, he be dead and I be off to get my new robes.

Pull with CoA from max range, then Corruption, Siphon Life, Drain Life/Life Tap as required. Easy, but I had to kill about eight of them. Respawns are fairly quick so it's a good place to grind if you're in the mood.

just completed w 32 lock. all easy except last two parts, the elemental and the fire guys. those were just about totaly immune to everything I had. used all spells, potions, void, etc on the elemental and only got him down to 80% before i cashed in.

w help from a 39 pally for elemental and 37 mage for the fire guys it was easy.

but at lvl 32, forget it, no way.

robe is very cool and worth all the effort IMHO

I did this last part in lvl 33,

I was with a fellow lock same lvl as well, and we managed to do all parts of the q bar the last 1.

The elementals we came across were mostly 39 and we could not touch them, Immune to Immolate, resist most of other spells and since they are elementals our shadow bolts did 11-18 dmg :)

Also 1 of them would terminate 2 VWs pretty fast.

Get friedns for this part, we were lucky and a guildy 51 lvl was around and analed them really fast.

Robe is fantastic.
