while you're here, if you look above the pool in the south west corner of the map, you'll find the egg that you need for the egg-o-matic machine thingy in Gadgetzan.
You can't tell if its a good one till you get to Gadgetzan, and you can only carry one at a time...save yourself a trek and get one while you do this q.

When you get to the 4th part of this quest chain, where you have to collect a sycamore branch, Go to Feralas and look for cursed sycamore to the west of the ruin of Isildien. Keep in mind your looking for a treant critter, and not a bush/tree.

48 Hunter solo (with pet, natch).

54,69 verified as good coords.

Ran mounted down into the hippo area, managed to avoid most of them and, by using Track Elementals, found Mr. Sycamore wandering around.

More through good luck than good planning, I only had to kill one hippo, then tapped Mr. Sycamore who charged valiantly (and died soon thereafter). The branch dropped just like clockwork.

When you see a treant, make sure he's called Cursed Sycamore. I died a lot of times hunting down this other treant called Ancient Guardian (I think), and not only did he keep kicking my ass because he could heal, but it didn't even give me the drop. (Cursed Sycamore dropped on the first kill though.)

Lvl 41 druid solo.&nbsp Ran on mount past everything til I got to him, ran up to the building near there where there werent any birds and killed the lvl 44 that followed me.&nbsp Saw I was only 1000xp from 42 so I killed 2 more lvl 44s and lvled.&nbsp Waitied til the treant got near and had no birds around and used moonfire to aggro him.&nbsp The guy was easy, dropped faster than the birds did.&nbsp Then I just hearthed out. :)

p.s. watch for the 46 elite, i almost aggro'd him by mistake >_<

i did this as a lvl 45 disc/holy spec priest. i got on my mount and rode all the way down to the lake. if you hang around the lake (i had to wait around 10 min), eventually it passes by and you can pull it away from the hyppos a bit and kill it. i had the quest and the branch dropped the first time. i only had to kill 1 hyppo. quite easy.

The grifs were dense, so I ran to the side of a hill to get away and health/mana up.&nbsp While sitting there a cursed sycamore walked by.&nbsp So, I attacked it and got my branch with little trouble.

My suggested strategy:&nbsp Instead of fighting your way through the grifs, find a nice spot and wait for one to come to you.

54,69 - yep, good coords
actually he's non elite, 45 (or 44, forgot already)
as long as you can avoid the birdies, he's easy

I liked the sound of the pond idea. I went into the pond and came back out and thinned out the hippo,s and there was the sycamore. Not hard this way.

54,69 is about right, plenty of red Hippos around, so just watch out. Easy kill though, he went down in a few seconds and didn't do anything special.

Easy! Go around the west side of the Ruins of Isildien in the south area of Feralas where the hippogriffs are. Theres a Cursed Sycamore that wanders around. DIFFERENT from an ELITE SYCAMORE that looks like it. Just kill and snatch the branch.

Responses here scared me into bringing a lvl 53 friend, but this would be completely soloable.
I (43 Paladin) rode my mount all the way to the tree, by which time I'd lost all mobs who aggroed on the way. The tree was lvl 44 and easily soloable. While picking up the loot, I was attacked by a lvl 45 hippogryph, also easily soloable at my lvl.

So ride to the tree, kill it, kill any adds, pick the loot and HS back to Westfall.

Lies, foolishness and disinformation. No "wandering elemental" here. The only thing you'll get if you go in this area is zerged by birds.

two lvl 41 rogues managed this very easily. the tree came walking down the small incline towards the ruins, on his own, no mobs around.
FYI, in the south west corner of the map, you'll see a little pool. On a ledge above it is the egg you need for that egg-o-matic machine in Gadgetzan. Since you can only carry one egg at a time, you might as well pick one up while you're here.

Cosmo coords are bascially right, although the sycamore does wander a bit. Tried this with my alt (NE warrior 45) Got mobbed by the flyin' nasties and died. SOooo I cheated? Left my alt's spirit next to the corpse. Then logged out, logged in my main (hunter 60, went to the spot, slaughtered everything that flew in the area. Logged my warrior back in,rezzed, took out the wandering sycamore and hearthed out. May not be purty but it got the desired results.
