I would like to add that the tree is found not in the canyon, but on top overlooking the canyon on the eastern side.

Check in Searing Gorge. On the eastern side of the actual gorge/deep canyon like area there is a tree you can click on.

54,50 u can go there without a fight. just enter searing gorge from badlands, follow the road to the south and when u see a camp of dwarf on the left side of the road, go to the right side. it is like a burn tree

23,300 xp in total for the quest chain. Even though the rewards are a bit crap it's worth doing just for that. It's also a very easy quest and shouldn't really take very long - probably about 45mins to an hour if you know where you're going.

It's rather well hidden behind that big boulder. It's NW of the Grimeslit digsite, on a ledge that juts noth over the Cauldron. A mithril vein spanws there all the time, might help the miners out.

Sigh, 54,50 works fine for me as well.. but just remember to go back to Westfall to get the next part of this stupid quest BEFORE you wander all over the zone trying to find the burning tree.. :p

To those confused about getting parts before/after you have the pervious part done:

This quest involes a Truesilver Bar in the first place, which means yes, it does require things that can be used outside of the quest chain. the same goes for the Holy Spring Water. i discovered the spring in my 30's, and always kept a spring water with me because it was a free health/mana pot. i am now 58 and i am doing this quest. i can confirm that the Holy Spring Water is not an item only obtainable on the quest, as goes for the truesilver bar, but the rest are quest-pickup only.

I noticed nobody mentioned how to get to the Searing Gorge. I have never been there before and you need key to go there from Loch Modan.&nbsp But if you keep asking the person there at the locked tunnel entrance, they will let you know there is another entrace through the Badlands.
Enter the Badlands, then head to the far eastern section of the zone. There is a path south of Kargath (horde stronghold) that will lead you into the Searing Gorge. From there, just go to the coordinates listed in the above post.

There is a charred oak tree at 55,51 in seering gorge.&nbsp Its pretty easy to get to if you run straight there from the entrance in the badlands.

This is located in Searing Gorge. Go through the tunnel in Loch Modan if you can and follow the path. You should be able to find it near the pit.

A kind soul took pity on me - after I had been searching for hours... (probably found every mithril deposit in the are - not a bad thing heh heh)..

If you look on your map and see the piece of land jutting under the words "The Cauldron" - you will find a burning tree (and yes there is also a mithril deposit nearby).&nbsp It is not at all far from Grimesilt's camp.

Is this bugged? I did this quest on my druid I know where the tree is, completed no problem. I have this quest (still) on my 60 lock, I know where the tree is, and cannot interact with it. I now have this quest on my 50 hunter, still know where the tree is, still cannot interact. It's not that I cant find the sweet spot where the gear turns yellow, I don't even have a gear. Anyone else?

I would just recommend paying a rogue to open the door from Loch Modan, much faster that way.&nbsp

I went to the Searing Gorge coordinates and didn't see anything clickable either. After running around a few times, I was just about to give up, when the tree became clickable. It could be that the respawn rate for this is very long (maybe a couple of hours). If someone has just tagged this earlier, you may not be able to get it. I'd make sure you go on an off-hour.

PS, the other posters were correct. There's very little mobs in the way. As long as you have mount, you should totally be able to do this.

FOTV is correct and the directions in that post were the most understandable. 55,51 SOUTH side of Cauldron...I spent a long time on the wrong side. The oak is next to a large rock and is smoking.

I went to 54,51 in Searing Gorge, but I couldn't find any openable items to collect the bundle. I figured it was a bug, so I went all the way back to westfall to abandon and re-accept the quest. Now that I'm in Searing Gorge again, I still can't get the charred oak. I know I'm in the right location - is this just a bug?

If you enter SG from the gate you stay on the path until just past where the blue spiders are. Follow the lip of the gorge and you'll run into a huge gray rock. The charred oak is just on the other side. If you FP in you'll have to go to the other side of the gorge. If you enter from the connecting zone you just stay on a straight line. You can't miss it.
