Tribal Leatherworking

Bring a Wild Leather Vest and a Wild Leather Helmet to Caryssia Moonhunter in Feralas.

Completing this quest will give you access to the Tribal Leatherworking arts.

The completion of this quest will prevent you from learning Dragonscale Leatherworking and Elemental Leatherworking; be sure this is the path you wish to follow before doing so.
Wild Leather Vest
Wild Leather Helmet

Description

To learn tribal leatherworking demands an understanding of how primal nature truly is; I know that you have already mastered the art of making wild leather armor, and I am willing to complete your training.

Know this, <class>: by choosing this path you agree never to learn dragonscale or elemental leatherworking; there is only room for practice of one of the three arts. Furthermore, bring to me the finest samples of your wild leather armor. From there, we will begin your mastery.

Here's what I've found in looking at the three areas of leatherworking:

Dragonscale
Lv Item
255 DragonScale Breastplate
260 Green DS Breastplate
270 Green DS Leggings
280 Green DS Gauntlets
285 Blue DS Breastplate
290 Black DS Breastplate
295 Blue DS Shoulders
300 Black DS Boots
300 Black DS Leggings
300 Black DS Shoulders
300 Blue DS Leggings
300 Chromatic Cloak
300 Chromatic Gauntlets
300 Dreamscale Breastplate
300 Red DS Breastplate

Elemental
Lv Item
250 Helm of Fire
270 Living Shoulders
270 Volcanic Leggings
275 Stormshroud Pants
285 Living Leggings
285 Stormshroud Armor
285 Volcanic Breastplate
295 Stormshroud Shoulders
300 Living Breastplate
300 Molten Belt
300 Molten Helm
300 Volcanic Shoulders

Tribal
Lv Item
250 Feathered Breastplate
265 Chimeric Gloves
270 Ironfeather Shoulders
275 Chimeric Boots
275 Frostsaber Boots
275 Warbear Harness
280 Chimeric Leggings
285 Frostsaber Leggings
285 Warbear Woolies
290 Chimeric Vest
290 Devilsaur Gauntlets
290 Ironfeather Breastplate
295 Corehound Boots
295 Frostsaber Gloves
300 Corehound Belt
300 Devilsaur Leggings
300 Frostsaber Tunic
300 Hide of the Wild

Of course, mail armor falls under the Dragonscale area (duh!) - primarily for Hunters.&nbsp Elemental has some good stuff but is primarily focused on rogue benefits.&nbsp Tribal also has some good stuff for rogues but primarily benefits the druids.&nbsp Of course, all leatherworkers can make the Scorpid (mail) armor - the majority of LW items remain open for all.&nbsp The really good items for all LW require Friendly, Honored or Revered with some faction (Timbermaw, Zandalar, Argent Dawn or Cenarion Circle).&nbsp So, the question is:&nbsp do you want to make items to sell or items for personal benefit?&nbsp I would guess that rogues provide the largest specialized market (Elemental) and hunters the second but farming for materials increases the difficulty of the DS area (none are easy materials to get).

So just off the top of my head here are the recipes you can learn with tribal... I have been a 300 tribal for a while and have most of them, except the new DM recipes.

Devilsaur legs and gauntlets(THIS IS A 2 PIECE SET)---> some of the best armor for rogues... better than elemental stormshroud for "most" rogues.

Ironfeather breastplate and shoulders (THIS IS A 2 PIECE SET)---> some of the best armor for casting druids till Wildheart...

Frostsaber boots, gloves, chest, and legs---> gives resist to frost and shadow.

Chimeric boots, gloves, chest, and legs---> gives resist to arcane and nature.

Warbear woolies and harnes---> gives great strength and stamina, but kinda disappointing armor.... still good for a feral set for druids

Hide of the Wild---> This is an awesome epic cloak that takes a LOT of hard to get/expensive mats... increases healing and gives int and stam.... perfect for any healer.

Corehound boots---> Hard to get recipe from MC.... gives agility, stam, and 24 fire resist making them awesome boots for rogues in MC/Onyxia

Wolfshead Helm---> useless helm unless you are a hardcore feral druid.

Well I think that is about it.... pretty much if youa re looking to make money you will pump out devilsaur items as there are an icredibly high number of rogues and almost all of them want a devil set.&nbsp You can also make some money making the ironfeather set because the drop on the breast is a pain not too many people have it so you can sell a set or two a week on a good pop server.&nbsp Hope this answers most of the questions that I know I had.&nbsp Feel free to add any armor I forgot which i am sure I forgot a few.

This does not require level 46. I can't confirm the minimum but 40 (or even 35?) would make sense. I completed this quest at level 43.

The quest -is- unavailable until you complete all the quests from the fellow in Feathermoon Stronghold (re: Wild Leather), including taking the letter to Darnassus.

&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp To change from tribal to elemental, talk to your specialist and pay the 50g to unlearn the specialty. Then fly to Tanaris and run to steemwheedle port to the house at 65,21. Theres a book on the table there called "Soothsaying For Idiots".
&nbsp &nbsp &nbsp Read the book and choose your new specialty, then go talk to your new trainer.&nbsp :)

This quest will allow you to (eventually) create these items - note that several are Bind on Pickup, and many are not available until much later in the game. These items can -only- be created by a tribal leatherworker, but the Bind on Equip ones can be bought, sold, traded, and given away. The items created with tribal leatherworking are primarily useful to druids in a caster role.

there is NO correlation between tribal (or any of the three specs) and getting your artisan (225 to 300 max) leatherworking.&nbsp to learn artisan lwing, you will need to go to the master leatherworking trainer.&nbsp for the alliance he is in aerie peak, in the inn downstairs.&nbsp you must be level 35 and have 200+ lwing.&nbsp it will cost you 5 gold.

for the horde, i believe you have to go to feralas (camp mojache).

To get this quest (and specialize in Tribal), first you need to do all of the Wild Leather quests that Pratt McGrubben gives in Feathermoon (he's next to the inn near the fp). Then he gives you a certificate to take to Darnassus to get the pattern for a Wild Leather Cloak. After you complete that quest you can talk to Caryssia to get the quest to learn Tribal Leatherworking. I tried to talk to her before I completed all of the Wild Leather quests and couldn't get the quest.

If you already are an elemental leatherworker and you want to become something different like tribal dont do the quest for the wild leather... complete waste of time... all you do is drop your current specialty go to tanaris 65, 18 read the book and pick your new specialty... you automatically learn in no quest involved..

I believe i have started the tribal leatherworking, but am not positive. I have turned in the first 2 parts of making the turtlescale armor to get my first wild leather patterns. By doing this have i locked my self into doing only tribal leatherworking now or do i still have a chance to switch to elemental leatherworking? I am a lvl 52 rogue and believe that elemental armor would be better for me. Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated thank you

Okay, when you are going to go to Feathermoon to begin the first quest, take with you 10 Thick Leather, if you have it already. I walked all the way there then had to go back to Darnassus to get my leather out of the bank.

Good luck and happy trails
