Jungle Stalker Feather (10)

Description

The items you gathered from the feline beasts of the Vale are only the first requirement for a powerful enchanted item. These jungle trinkets combined with my shamanistic ritual will provide you with a very useful tool in assisting the Horde and the Warchief.

But now you must gather for me some Jungle Stalker Feathers. The feathers are traditionally worn by the beasts on their armbands. You will find a tribe of the raptors directly south of Grom'gol, not far from the great arena.

To find the stalkers, follow the coastline southwest out of Grom'gol. The area from the coast to the Gurubashi Arena is filthy with these things, so you should have no trouble finding enough to kill. Drop rate is maybe 20%. Be careful of the elite raptor that patrols this area (he is the objective of one of the Nessingwary quests).

You can double this quest up with the Nessingwary quest that has you hunt stalkers.

It took me awhile to figure out...

I killed about 25 of the jungle stalkers with no drops. I got frustrated and just stood there looking at them...that's when I noticed they change colors.

When you first see them they are light purple, almost pink. If you watch them they turn to a darker purple..a bluish purple. When I killed them while this darker purple, they dropped the quest item. Every one of them that I waited to turn colors dropped the quest item. Just to be sure I killed a few of the pinker color and never got a drop. I got all 10 quest items in about 15 minutes after letting them change colors.

I know it sounds strange, but it's true :)

ignore the color-changing bs.

they change colors because they walk into and out of the shadows, it makes no difference whether they're in sunlight or shade- the drop rate is still low.&nbsp but, just about every drop rate is low once you pass the 30's.&nbsp

mobs are 40-41, easy lower lvl solo if you know what you're doing.&nbsp loc 33.37-35.40 confirmed... just south of camp.&nbsp

Of course the drop rate would be considered "bad." You're all expecting immediate results and get things done as fast as possible. It's considered a grind quest for a reason! Considering the amount of experience it takes to level, you'd have to eventually grind out some creatures and anyway. At least this gives you a reason to. Sit back, enjoy the scenery and realize like most MMORPGs, everything takes time.

I did notice that they changed colors slightly(and they were standing on the beach so I know its not the shade) but it didnt seem to change the drop rate.

What I did notice is some of them don't even have feathers on their arms. The ones who did had a much higher drop rate.

"The feathers are traditionally worn by the beasts on their armbands."

So I'm thinking that has something to do with it.

This wasn't so bad. The droprate was quite okay for me. It took me about 10 minutes.

It took me around 40 minutes to do this quest. I was around 31,42. There was a fairly steady drop rate, and easily done with a level 40 hunter.

I found the easiest and most consecutive drops came off the Raptors (Jungle Stalkers) on the west side of the jungle surronding the Arena (TLoc 28,43). The drops were very consistent versus the Raptors when you first walk into the jungle from Grom.

Considering the fact i gathered 3 stacks of Raptor Flesh and 2 stacks of Raptor Hides,I'd say that the droprate is closer to 1/20 for the feathers...nice grind, nice leathers for skinners but pretty boring, not to mention it's in a heavily grinded quest area which might make it really interesting on pvp servers...

Didn't seem exactly to work for me...

What I did notice is they do seem to change colors when they walk into and out of the shadows of the large trees that are nearby, haven't noticed any difference in drop rate though

These Feathers drop strangely easy off ALL the jungle stalkers, north of the arena. The only thing that pisses me off, is that the reward for 4 chain quest is a damn necklace that is sucky for hunters. Oh yeah, dont coordinates mess up your computer, please reply :-)

Drop rate isnt too bad, do it around lvl 40 and the exp is good so drop rate is excusable. I probably killed 30 before i got 10.

Well, I found my stalkers south of Grom'Gol, on the opposite bank. I wasn't paying to much attention to colour, but the drop rate was like any other quest for me, not frequent, but not never.

i got a great drop rate around 30.44.&nbsp Also if you see some of the raptors don't wear feathers, so don't go for them.&nbsp Also what i've noticed is that if you just blast ur way through killing one - as fast as possible the drop rate is worse.&nbsp take a bit longer to kill and u'll get it.&nbsp My drop rate in this area was about 1 feather in every 2 or 3 raptors killed. Some I even got two feathers from one raptor...take ur time killing them :D

There is definitely no colour change, they ALL have armbands so it doesn't matter which you kill and as dube801 said, the drop rate is almost exactly 25% off mobs northwest, west and southwest of the arena (i.e. around the back of it).

This quest is not too difficult as most raptors you find in Stranglethorn Vale are quite spaced out. You can pick them one at a time as a lvl 38 Troll Rogue (we do 5% against beasts), but hunting them at lvl 40 can be comfortably accomplished by most classes.

As of the last patch, Tethis the 43 elite is no longer an elite raptor. I found most of my raptors near the Arena. This was an...interesting quest on a PvP server being this close to the arena :).

Got most of my feathers fairly quickly...decent drop rate and EXP. Soloed as a level 41 Holy Priest.

This is a pretty slow quest. I finished it after 43 kills, so the drop chance was roughly 24%. The Jungle Stalkers can be found from 36,38 and then all the way down to the Gurubashi Arena. Do this quest together with the Raptor Mastery part 3 quest (http://classicdb.ch/?quest=196) for extra leveling efficiency.

i did this quest the same time with the nesingwary quest that told us to kill 10 of these raptor, by the time i kill 10 of them (finishing the nesingwary quest), i have 5 of the feather in my inventory, so i think the drop rate has increased a little, cause from 10 i have killed, i get 5 piece of feather.
