Fire Plume Forged

Take the Skeleton Key Mold and 2 Thorium Bars to the top of Fire Plume Ridge in Un'Goro Crater. Use the Skeleton Key Mold by the lava lake to forge the Unfinished Skeleton Key.

Bring the Unfinished Skeleton Key to Alchemist Arbington at Chillwind Point, Western Plaguelands.

Description

You need two bars of thorium and a powerfully hot heat source to forge the key stem. You're on your own for the thorium, but I can help with the heat.

To our west in Un'Goro Crater is Fire Plume Ridge - a simmering volcano. The lava lake up top is hot enough to fuse thorium and bone together. Your gold has bought you a mold that simply requires you to dip it in the lake up top; the lava will take care of the rest.

That's it on my end. To finish your key, you'll need to talk to Arbington again.

Head to the Auction House and purchase your 2 thorium bars. (if you're already a miner, skip this step)

Then head to Un'goro Crater. In the center of the crater is the ugly Fire Plume Ridge where you can find many farmers farming the fire elementals.

Find the bridge on the NORTH side of the mountain, follow it all the way up - to your right you should see the lava lake. Then stand in the little nook facing NORTH (when facing NORTH you should be facing the lava) - get as close as you can and use the mold.

Bada bing - quest finished.

You have to stand near the lava lake, on the north 'shore', where Blazerunner is. Don't stand in the lake (it will kill you) or on the other side of the lake (it won't work).

Both locations of 52,42 for the ramp up the mountain and 48,48 as to where to stand for the lake were of great help. Solo'd as a 56 hunter which was very easy to do. Took all of 5 minutes.

When the item is used it forms a green aura around you and shakes the screen (Pretty cool huh?) You can stand on the other side you just have to be more to the south than north

If you're a Rogue and near 300 lockpicking, skip this and save yourself 15g. Just get to 300 :)

And FYI, only one person in your group or raid needs to be able to open the door to the instance.

I second the guy above that said "use the bridge".&nbsp This is way easier than trying to follow the lava trail which just didn't work for me.&nbsp The bridge entrance is on the N side at 53,42.&nbsp Just look for the huge tree with the fallen tree bridge next to it.

when u get to un'goro crater, head directly south. when you get to fireplume ridge, look for a wooden bridge on the northern side. just go up to the very top, hop into the lake of fire (i used divine protection) get the key, hop out, head back to chillwind camp. you will prolly have to fight a few lvl 55 range fire elementals, so be ready, unless someone is there farming them.

You will need to kill him again, because if you dont have *that* quest when you kill him, he doesn't drop *that* quest item :) So hold off on doing Alas, Andorhal till you decide to do this quest, get everything in one shot.

The easiest way to get to the top is to start climbing from the north side of the Fire Plume Ridge (coordinates are 52, 42).

Once you get to the Lava Lake, as others have said, go down right next to it (but not into it) and use the Skeleton Key Mold in your inventory.

Once you have reached the ridge, you have to make your way to the south side of the lake near the overflow to the southeast. You will be able to forge the unfinished skeleton key. Good Luck.
