Destroy Araj the Summoner and bring Araj's Scarab to Apothecary Dithers at the Bulwark, Western Plaguelands.

Description

Araj the Summoner lords over Andorhal from the ruined city's heart. We know that he was the former leader of Scholomance before claiming the city as his own. To finish the key, we will need his signet - called a scarab - mounted as the head of the key.

Make your way into the heart of Andorhal, and break his hold on the city now that he is drawn into the open. Once destroyed, seize his scarab from his fallen phylactery!

The Key to Scholomance awaits, <name>!

Araj is located in the middle of Andorhal. Coordinates: 45,69 He has a few adds around him so I would suggest a group of at 3-5 level 55+ (Note:he is a 61 Elite)

You can use the attuned damper of Chronie vs Araj, this will help alot, so u can fight him with only two guys. Araj must not have 100 % hp to use the damper.

If you are a warlock and you want to get the warlock epic mount, you have to have this key in order to enter to Scholomance for the Imp Delivery quest.

I did this quest with a friend and&nbsp believe me when i say....."Its hard".....araj is easy to kill woth the right group but its the mobs that get i the way....we died but killed her so we ressurected and ra bck to get the scarab.

There is an NPC in the in of andorhall (nort west in andorhall) wich has a repeatable quest, where you have to collect some andorhall watches spreaded out in adorhall (see the specific quest for more info), that gives you a "damper" that can be used on Araj.
It does some damage to Araj and reduces his damage 25%!

You can solo Araj with a warlock or hunter

Just set your pet to go attack a distant mob, pulling agro from everyone around Araj, then focus all your DPS on Araj and kill him quickly.

If you dont have enough time to get the scarab before you die, just soulstone or rez there and send your pet off again...

if you are a warlock or hunter.

Just send you pet to attack a distant mob and let the agro follow him, then you have Araj alone who is fairly easy to kill despite being a 61 elite.&nbsp Kill Araj, die, rez,&nbsp send pet again to get the sracab (requires 5 secs / interrupted if hit).

You can (or you used to) be able to kill him on your main and then loot the scarab on an alt, same for the phylactery. Anyone else who had the quest in the area could loot the items as well. Haven't tested this since pre-2.0 but about to check now. =P

Once you complete this quest, you get the Skeleton Key, which is the key for Scholomance

I just completed this quest today. Araj had been killed already so I was planning to camp him. The Phylactery was there and I looted it so yes, you do not need to be the one to kill him to get the scarab.

I'd hate to spam all sections that have to do with Araj on how to kill him, so check out this section of thottbot in which I wrote a detailed description of how I managed it without using any cheap tactics (hunters can stand on items out of reach for mobs and do ranged attacks against him I read, though I don't know if that is possible still with all of the new patches)... for classes like paladins, there aren't very many ranged attacks in our arsenal... so this is one way that worked for me.

It is not worth it to go through all this if you're a rogue since rogues can pick the door to Scholo at 280 skill.

I dont think the "Alas, Andorhal" quest is bugged anymore. I completed that one a few weeks ago. Im not going to pay the 15g for the part of the scholomance quest if this one is still bugged though

Solo'd Araj as a L63 Warlock

The ghouls on the path on either side are the key to breaking the camp. When they are closest to the Skeletal elite guard, pull them, the elite will assist, allowing you to kill them before killing Araj

With the two elites down, sent in the Felguard and lots of dots, then chain cast health funnel.

Had to hit the Health Stone, but did not even lose the pet.
