Description

Ah, the sea life. I ain't gonna say it's the good life, but it's my life.

When I get into port I like to find me a good bottle of grog and some high quality snuff. Nasty habits but what's a pirate without his vices, right?

So you can imagine how heartbroken I was to find out the herbalist here in town has gone and sold out of the stuff. Says his shipment got hijacked by those damned Bloodsail Raiders.

I bet a fearless <class> like you could convince 'em to share the goods, eh?

Turn right out of Booty Bay to the beach, it's called the Wild Shore.&nbsp Follow the beach south and you will find Bloodsails.&nbsp Very high drop rate of snuff, plus the quest The Bloodsail Buccaneers can be done in this area, the only downside is the pirates are levels 42-44.&nbsp Go with a group and kill two quests at once.

I'm doing this quest right now (in fact, I'm resting, waiting for my mana to regen, heh), and I find that snuff also drops off of the Bloodsail Swashbucklers, and pretty abundantly too.

I'm doing Up to Snuff together with part 3 or 4 of the Bloodsail Buccaneers (where you need to kill 10 Swashbucklers, etc.) and that's how I found out the snuff drops.

After killing a Bloodsail Warlock, I find that they also drop the Snuff.

The Bloodsail Buccaneers
"Pretty Boy" Duncan
Up to Snuff
Keep An Eye Out

All of these quests require killing bloodsails.&nbsp The eye and snuff can drop off any of the bloodsail in STV so the best thing to do is pick up these 2 quests and then just do The Bloodsail Buccaneers quest chain until they drop.&nbsp No need for special excursions to get snuff or some guy's eye.

Fairly easy quest. It's a good one to pick up when you get to killing Pretty Boy Duncan and killing the Naga (Akiris by the bundle). You can bounce back and forth between Pretty Boy's camp and the Naga to keep you busy without running out of mobs.

This is probably a quest that can be tailored to your level. As SJ stated, any of the bloodsails will drop this. That means the level 40 mages and the tougher level 44 warlocks both drop it, so if you're on a grind to 40, this can help, if you're trying desperately to level up so you can get out of STV and on to tanaris, this is also a great quest to do. Don't ignore this quest! You'll get quite a bit of experience while farming for the quest items.

To be clear:

While it it not true that you have to had *completed* Bloodsail Buccaneers in order to get Deeg to talk to you and offer this quest, it IS true that you must have completed the first 2 legs of Bloodsail Buccaneers - just the parts of locating the camp, finding the map on the barrel, and returning to that quest giver.&nbsp THEN Deeg will talk to you.

just take a right out of booty bay then go south. you can do The Bloodsail Buccaneers quest where you have to kill the swashbucklers and the notes are in a camp all the way south.

Just be careful, they are almost always in groups and they are not afraid to get wet so running away into the water wont work like it does sometimes.

you can go left or right straight out of bb, and its good grinding quest anyway.&nbsp i got it done in 15 min and got enough xp doing it too.&nbsp too many whiners, everyone expects quests to be in and out.

The above poster was killing in the wrong place. You should take a left once out of Booty Bay and along the shore are pirates. I killed them for around 20 minutes and got my snuff.

Wasn't really hard.

If you finish the first 3 parts of bloodsail buccaneers then attempt up to snuff, the drop rate will increase ten fold. finished in 20 min solo. Will drop from all not just raiders

Thought that I might mention the fact that the guys at 23,55 are lvl 43.
I did this as a 39 druid along the beach (on your left as you exit from booty bay), where there were lvl 40/41.
Not difficult, but time consuming.&nbsp Enjoy!

The Questgiver is to your left as you enter Booty Bay. When you are going for the Snuff, I'd recommend going directly east of the Entrance to Booty Bay, and then heading to Wild Coast where there are several different Bloodsails.

I've found that off of Bloodsail Swashbucklers the drop rate is the best, and that's who I would try to kill.

Overall I don't think that it's worth it to do this quest, but you should keep it in your log, and as you complete other quests, you can tack up some Snuff, and gain an extra 1650 XP.

I'm lvl 49 NE Hunter with pet. Took me about 20 minutes or so. Every three or so dropped one. Got a bit of xp. Scored (Twilight Orb of the Eagle) 6 Intellect. 6 stamina. I'll it on AH. I also scored 2 pages 21 and a pg 16 and 18 which I will also sell at AH.

I started from the road and worked me way all the way to the end. Came back to road and got them all by the time I hit the first camps for the second time. Not a bad quest. Got ganked by 59+ Orc Hunter and had a grey horde near me but obviously she wasn't a prob so I left her alone.

From what I remember, the Warlocks were the only one's that didn't drop them but I still killed them. XP.

Just combine it with the quest involving killing the swashbucklers. You need to kill 10 of them and find the plans and orders. Easily done when you combine them.

If you read the quest it says that Bloodsail Raiders took it.&nbsp So you get it from them.&nbsp Can find some just to the east of the entrance to Booty Bay (32,72).

This quest should only be taken when you got all the other bloodsail buccaneer quests, as the people below me already posted: It's completely worthless except as a little add-on.

Horrible quest as a warrior. If you're doing this on the Wild Shore the Swashbucklers will disarm you and the Warlocks are usually close together and wander quite a bit, so don't be surprised at aggroing more than 1 and taking massive shadow damage. Good luck on this one with the terrible drop rate too. The only up side is you'll probably get a lot of experience because of the sheer amount of mobs needed to be killed.

At first I was getting a snuff about 2 out of every 3 Bloodsail mobs killed, but once I got to 14 (only needed one more) it took eight kills to finally get that last one!

If you have the other quests for charts/orders, then doing up to snuff is fine, and if you come over to Pretty Boy Duncan's camp, the Raiders and the Mages drop the Snuff as well, so in all there are at least 2 quests you can double up on and 3 or more mobs that will drop the snuff item.

I recommend taking this quest despite the other posts. At 42 it was decent xp just for the killing. 1650xp @ 42.

Not only is it WISE to have started the Bloodsail Bucaneers quest tree when doing this and Keep an Eye out, but it is required. I was level 43 and could not get this until I had done the first quest or two of that tree.

This quest was fairly poor, since it has no real reward but some xp and faction.

The wife and I each did this while we duoed the final 2 Bloodsail quests, and got all the snuff just as we finished. So, instead of viewing this on it's own, if you consider it just an add-on to doing the last few bloodsail quests, it really isn't so bad. I mean, you are killing those guys, anyways...

Easy to accomplish as of 2.3 update. At about 30,88 there are 3 boats anchored. Swim out to one, go thru it... and so on. I had 13 of the required 15 snuff by the time I made it thru the 3 ships and alot of other goodies. I ran the deck of one ship a 2nd time and filled the quest.

Start at 27,69 and slay the group that includes "pretty boy duncan". move across the bridge and kill the group there, and by the time you are done move back to where you started. Did this as a 39 hunter and it took FOREVER. the drop rate for snuff is terrible but they all drop cloth and some drop volatile rum which vendors for 4s or can be sold on the AH for a decent profit. happy hunting :)

Just as a note, there seems to be a better drop rate amongst the swashbucklers then amongst the warlocks, despite the listed rates being almost equal. I got snuff off of maybe 2 or 3 warlocks I killed in the camps and got the rest of the snuff from the swashbucklers.

On a side note these are pretty lame pirates. Only one of them dropped any rum!
