Provided Item:
Empty Termite Jar

Description

I've tried many times to rout out the Scarlet Crusade through force alone, but to no avail. So, as an alternative, I've decided to make their lives more difficult.

If you are willing to help, I want to infest that lumber mill with the most terrible species of termites ever found.

In Plaguewood, near the once-great Stratholme, there is a breed that survived the plague and the Scourge combined. Find their mounds and fill this jar with them, so we can prepare them to be unleashed on the Crusade.

The termite mounds are found in random locations throughout the area of Plaguewood in the NW part of Eastern Plaguelands. Mobs of level 53-57 are in the area. Each termite mound will yield a large number of termites (around 20-30). Soloed by a level 53 druid by prowling around to find the termite mounds.

Example locations:
32, 33
25, 26

You need to go to the zone named Plaguewood, it's on the west side of the Eastern Plaguelands.

Once there, you need to run around spotting big blobs of white/cream mounds, theseare the termites lair (nest?)

You just need to clik on it to get the termites, usually 15-20 termites, per nest.

It's pretty easy solo, you just gotta keep your eyes open for the numerous undead in the zone and specially one nasty Scarlet Courrier Patrol.

Took my 55 Druid an hour. It wasn't really hard as much as frustrating. Remember, when you're travelling along the road, you must go around Corin's Crossing if you're less than about lvl 58. It's filled with a bunch of trash mobs. Watch out for the Courier (60 Elite)& his bunch (about 5 or 6 57s) patrolling along the road.

Thanks to the previous posters, I went to the town in the north. Stealthed in and looked for termite mounds. Nowhere in town. Looked off both sides of the road. Nope. Looked along the bank of the lake. Nope. Looked to the north. Nope. Hmmm. Finally found my first one southwest of the town along the edge of the hills. Found the second one there too. Great, at last! Nope. That was it. Serached the hills in the east searched the rest of the hills in the west. Nope. Niente. Nada.

Went back to the southwest. Aha! Two more mounds that looked strangely familiar, in a strangely-familiar location, guarded by strangely-familiar mobs. You got it - same two mounds respawned. OK, whatever. Got those two and then only 10 termites left. Stealthed North. Stealthed East. Went back to my old pals. Respawned again! Success.

I never saw more than those two mounds and I covered that town for an hour. I went everywhere and was on a first-name basis with everyone. Bugged? Who knows but I finally got it done. Keep in mind, each of those two mounds was either guarded by a mob or (in 2 out of the 5 cases) I was attacked, when the loot timer was still running, by lvl 57 or 58 unfriendlies. I had no problem as a 55 Druid (except with the 58 bats - they have a tricky spell called Silence) but lower levels need to be prepared.

By the way, can anyone tell me why there is no flight path between the Eastern Plaguelands and the Western Plaguelands? Or between Aerie Peak and the Western Plaguelands? What's that all about?

The termite mounds are located around the Plaguewood area of the Eastern Plaguelands. Which is the NE part of the zone. You get at least 10 each time you open one, so you can get them in about 10 minutes or so. There are mobs ranging from 54 to 57 around that area.

Solo'd it at level 50. Got 5650 exp, 85s, and no faction.

Plaguewood is actually in the northern part of EPL.. Just continue on the path and you'll reach it. The quest is worth it because you get the quest xp, it's easy, and plus if you've never been to EPL, you get about 2k-3k xp in discovered places.

Note: this quest is accepted in western plaguelands, but the termits is in the eastern part plaguelands, with other words, do not try to get up the mountains in western plagualands! (as I did for about an hour..) go to eastern plagualands and then use the coords on the other comments above here, if you think the coords is wrong, think again, they are just for eastern :)

Check out the text of the quest. It says you get an empty vial to catch termites, but in the end you turn in the empty vial again, AND 100 termites who apparantly run free through your pockets -- they use an extra bag slot.

Ah well, it's not that important... )

While the quest giver is in the Western Plaguelands, the area where the termite mounds are found is in the Eastern Plaguelands. Plaguewood is located in the northwestern corner of the Eastern Plaguelands.

Most of the Undead wandering Plaguewood can be avoided, but I still wouldn't venture there if I were any lower than level 55.

Make sure you stop by Light's Hope Chapel for the flight point and for another quest that can be completed in Plaguewood. Light's Hope Chapel is in the middle of the eastern side of Eastern Plaguelands, just behind the Pestilent Scar try to avoid falling in the Scar, as it is filled with oozes with few ways out.

Doing this on my 55 Druid right now (the mobs are easy as long as you avoid Corin's Crossing and the wandering Stitched Horrors in the plaguewood area), found mounds at:

29,30
28,38
28,36
26,33 (careful of the stitched horrors :S)
24,29
22,33

22,33 is directly behind the Plaguewood Tower- there's a spectral gryphon master in there who can take you to the other towers, but since the other three were all taken by Horde when I did this, I figured that wasn't such a bright idea. (I don't really know how the PvP thing works).

also, remember to equip your Argent Dawn trinket so you get scourgestones from the stuff you kill.

Edit to add: For the way back, I strongly recommend taking the gryphon from Light's Hope Chapel to the WPL, just don't be like me and aggro a lvl 60 Scourge Champion on the way there...the mobs at the camp WILL NOT HELP YOU.

These are acutally found in Eastern Plague Lands, and its better to be about 55 or so and getting there can be a little tough but once you are there, watch out for the Scarlet Crusade Elite Patrol, It consist of 4-5 Bodyguards that are level 58 elites, and a level 60-62 Elite as well; I reccomend getting a group if your low 50s or even mid
Im not sure but i think they are random spwns

There is a short cut instead of going through the entire EPL.&nbsp Right after you cross the Thondroril River, turn north.&nbsp You will find a path that is partially guarded by lvl 54 & 55, buy you can ride past them.&nbsp You will come to a home and a quest giver, but also a tunnel.&nbsp The tunnel leads to the top NW corner, which you can easily get to the termite mounds.&nbsp There are some lvl 54 & 55, but you can easily cut your way through.

justa useful tip
it took me about 4 mins to get the 100 , as I realised that the mounds respwan like mobs do .
I used only three mounds on the eastern edge of plauguewood by the road, and by the time I had emptied the third one, the first was giving termites again.
Saved alot of time

Eastern Plaguelands - area of town of PLaguewood - near Stratholme...
Look for what looks like to me large broken 'tusks' with a greenish ooze on top (as a dwarf they were taller than me) - hover the cursor over it and click... I actually got 102 within 8 mins, and from approx 6 of these...
Easy to see, I only fought 1 lvl 57 enemy (by choice)...

Quite easy quest, the termite nests are fairly easy to find and to spot, so you don't have to run around looking carefully wherever you step.

The nests respawns on the same places fairly often. So does herbs. For example there's very often a stranglekelp north of the western bridge in menethil harbour.

Well, the cordinates seems correct. And be sure to kill as much undeads as you arse to. Becouse it gives you repuration.

once you obtain the quest, head to plaguewood, i found it was easier to find the mounds around Strat, the lake area the right side, the termite mounds are not white as a post above says, the mounds are a orangish brown at bas then fade to yellow as they grow in hight, and have green ooze dripping down the top, their about the size of a human or night elf and barely curve. I hope this helps.
